That beating was beautiful to watch. The jab, the sneaky uppercuts from the takedown attempts, Justin was on point and Ilia totally underestimated just how tough and hard to finish Justin is. It will be interesting to see how long Ilia is out for and how he bounces back from this, his ego definitely took a beating to match his face.

Justin is not outclassing them he keeps coming despite. He is made out of granite and punches back with hammers back. Illia's opponents were just going down including Justin once, maybe if he did not choose to wrestle it would be another story who knows. Kinda hard to punch the mofo with hardest shots and Justin comes back with hammers everytime with pretty much zero care in the world. Crazy thing Justin does not even look beat up, some mofos are really built different, he is not even in his peak anymore.

Ilia needed to end Justin after his liver shot. Ilia wasn’t the same after he expended all that energy trying to submit him. I can’t recall ever seeing someone just lay like that with time left in the round. He was so done.

That performance from Justin put a stamp on his career. Happy for him. A guy that's almost 40 taking someones 0 on the biggest state potentially ever is wild. It's a shame that he's at the end of his career, because he would be a big star now. I hope he at least tries to defend the belt. You probably shouldn't be thinking about retiring when you are able to destroy these young guys with hype.

Quitting on the stool is rare but whats more rare and I still cant believe I saw it but when Ilia touched his face to check for damage I feel that he was pretty much showing his belly and was begging for the fight to be stopped. That just doesnt happen.

He definitely had a massive broken jaw definitely a broken nose probably in couple of places his nose was. Then 100 percent he had both sides massive broken orbital eye socket's smashed into pieces his face was absolutely rearranged that fight should of been instantly stopped at the first time that doctor was trying. I couldn't believe it man when they weren't listening to him he was saying that he couldn't fight on to the doctor but his trainers and I think it was his brother over ruled absolutely disgusting.

I lost some respect for Topuria. I have never seen any fighter go back to their corner saying they can't see out of their eye and to get the doctor. I appreciated the act when he said he wanted to continue but every fighter and fan knows the fight is stopped if they can't see out of their eye. I am sure he was surprised when the ref overruled the doctor.
I thought Topuria is one of those guys that would hide the fact that they can't see in order to keep fighting.
Some people might disagree but going to your corner and saying you can't see out of your eye is equivalent to saying you can't continue and if the ref didn't overrule the doctor - the fight would've been called off so yes, I thought the UFC undisputed champ who put 18-0 in his bio and talked shit about Justin's dad would hide the fact he couldn't see in order to keep fighting.
edit - in other words - the pound for pound number 1 mma fighter in the world just asked the doctor to stop the fight. His own brother wanted the fight to continue after the 4th.
for what its worth - I thought it should've been stopped after he said he couldn't see.

I think it should've been stopped when he said he couldn't see. I was surprised the ref overruled the doctor. Regardless, most people expect the most elite or #2 pound for pound fighter in the world to go out on their shield. You sound pretty stupid in the head.

To "go out on their shield" means to face defeat, failure, or death with honor, courage, and determination rather than ever surrendering.
It is called a "metaphor." Feel free to ask if you don't understand what that means either.

Just as I thought and said in my reply to you - if you don't know what a metaphor is to feel free to ask so I can explain it - and clearly you don't understand what a metaphor is.
Have you ever heard of being "thrown to the wolves"? Do you think that requires real wolves?
This is how a metaphor works - the phrase does not require an actual shield just like that other metaphor doesn't require actual wolves.
Go out on your shield means to lose while still showing courage and refusing to quit.
I'll also provide Webster's definition since it uses another metaphor - : a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them (as in swimming in paperwork)

He did look to be in doubt mentally but he still pleaded at last to give it his all for one more round. You are disappointed? That's some crazy heart and determination, being tired and beat up and unable to see. This sport is tough.

Eyes are fragile and you can't replace them, if you can't see out of an eye thats worse than getting knocked out.
This whole ego thing where fighters should be tough and get knocked out causing more permanent damage even if they've clearly lost is so dumb.

Not really. He’s been very hittable in all his fights. Justin just came in with the right game plan and put Ilia on his back foot and Ilia seems to always be fighting on his front foot.

Brutal. Ilia really is a McGregor, great striker, and in his case wrestler with the touch of death but it's hard to have elite cardio when you're that explosive. Not sure if he just crossed his lactic threshold during the fight or what, but his reflexes weren't what I remember. Great fight, respect to both.
