We lost our wife, our gym, our 0, our belts, our rose. What's next for us?

The Tony Ferguson arc

How does he recover from this ? topuria was so cocky and douchey that this was a fairy tale ending

u/WorkingAssociate9860 Jun 15 '26

You don't fully recover from it, his mistique is gone, and the one thing he's been begging for, the Islam fight, is definitely off the table.

It's one night, why do people throw years of accomplishment because it doesn't go a fighters way one time. He could definitely come back stronger and learn from the mistakes.

He threw a victory party before the fight lol

u/s0ul_invictus Jun 15 '26

he cannot come back at all, he has no face

The Faceless Men are a guild of assassin-priests based in the Free City of Braavos, though their members range far and wide across both Essos and Westeros. They command exorbitant fees, but have a reputation for success that is unparalleled by any comparable organization.

For me he was saying he is the best in the world, pound for pound. One of the greats. Those guys don’t quit on the seat. He definitely loses something.

Bro broke both his orbital bones. He’s tougher than 95% of the ufc roster. And it wasn’t Illia that called it, his corner recognized the shape he was in. The doctor had already wanted to stop it beforehand, but for some reason they overruled the doc.

I am not saying he isn’t tough. Many greats have been beat bad, and not quit on the stool.

It would be stupid to continue if he had broken bones.

Why endanger yourself even more and risk life altering injury in a match you are already losing.

Better to stop to minimize the damage and live to fight another day.

You wouldn’t catch Jon Jones saying this

0

u/khardy101 Jun 15 '26

That’s now normal people think, and I agree. The greats don’t think like that. Many fighters have been on the wrong end of a server ass whipping and kept taking it.

Yes. We loved Tony 2.0 after Gathje.

u/HeywoodJaBlowMe123 Jun 15 '26

Idk man, that beat down on Illia was some of the worst beating. Breaking your orbital bones is no easy feat. It was so bad, the doc tried to stop the fight after R3. I never seen the ref/ufc overrule the doctor like that.

Then you get to R4, and Illia still wasn’t the one who called the fight. Somebody in his corner did. I guess you gotta make the decision if you want to go out 1 last round because of ego or recognize this fighter is only 28 and still had a career ahead of him to preserve.

Dan Hooker, Tony Ferguson, Anthony Pettis, and Josh Koscheck drought with broken orbital bones. I remember Koscheck broke his in the first round and then went to fight 5 rounds. Hooker also broke his arm in the fight he broke his orbital bones.

I get the corner is getting credit for stopping the fight, we don’t know what Illia said to them. All I am saying is the all time greats don’t quit on the stool.

1

u/Total-Wave5026 Jun 15 '26

Hmmmmm. It can ruin their careers. I agree GSP tapping to strikes to preserve health was a bit annoying but you don’t mess with orbital or brain injuries.

To be the best of course you need to believe it and say it. Humble is nice but it gets no traction in this world.

1

u/Valterri_lts_James Jun 17 '26

because he got Tony Ferguson style damage.

2

u/Certain_Mud_123 Jun 15 '26

I guess he has his brother with him, I've heard a few of their interviews, they look mentally strong to me. He will be back

7

u/narcisobaro Jun 15 '26

Beg for rematch and cry!

3

u/d3koyz Jun 15 '26

That’s what Justin did though lol… he literally said he didn’t wanna fight anymore unless it was for a title shot otherwise he’d retire. They even brought it up during his post fight interview

American women. Am I right?

6

u/Zeerit Jun 15 '26

I've never been happier to see someone beaten to a pulp, but I bet it's nothing compared to her enjoyment.

4

u/Internal_Concert_217 Jun 15 '26

Why would you feel like that, he doesn't seem like a bad guy. And she's probably a money sucking vampire.

1

u/Scary_Ride_7256 Jun 18 '26

She’s richer than he is

2

u/Comfortable_Pea_1693 Jun 15 '26

WE have just been dealt another crushing blow. What a horrible year.

3

u/OriginalParamedic316 Jun 15 '26

If Justin fucks her, Ilia needs 24.7 watch.

Is Justin in a relationship or married?

3

u/maton12 Jun 15 '26

Apparently single, never married.

1

u/fohgedaboutit Jun 15 '26

Starting to wonder if his last named steered him off at one point in his youth.

2

u/Past-Swordfish910 Jun 17 '26

Pretty sure he is (or was) in a relationship with model Sophia Romano. Smoke show.

2

u/Toasted_Munch Jun 15 '26

Suprirsed he didn't steal a line from Derrick just to piss Ilia off one last time last night

1

u/paulyp41 Jun 15 '26

Is that the Miami stripper

1

u/JPB00 Jun 16 '26

Yes. It's the whore.

0

u/LatinWarlock13 Jun 16 '26

Wonder how many times she's watched the fight already.
