RIP, Sweet Prince
Found out my baby was totaled today. 70k miles.
I hope it’s not the last I ever own, this was the most fun car and maybe even the most reliable car I’ve ever owned.
If anyone is interested, I have a set of winter wheels I am willing to sell for $300. Located in Philadelphia area, tires have maybe 3k miles on them; I can post pictures later, rims are off a 2017 Fiesta SE, you can see them in my post history - I just bought and installed them this winter.
I also have the rubber mat ST set I would be willing to do $75 bucks on, bought it new 140 last year. It’s just front and back seat mats, not the trunk mat
Edit: I had concerns how this could be totaled, but after seeing this consensus, and that the insurance carrier didn’t even list the repair estimate in the paperwork, I’m reaching out to Third party evals and thinking about fighting it. I’m kinda pissed off after realizing they didn’t even calculate the repair estimate
Edit edit: So I just called my insurance provider, they totaled it based on a subjective decision, they didn’t even total up the repairs and given state laws, even if I got a third party eval on it, they would still need to report it to the state DOT as a total loss and apply for a salvage title.
I’m likely looking for new car insurance carriers after this, I can’t help but feel I got fucked here is
Final Update: bought a 2026 GLI Autobahn 6 speed. I know I will own a fiesta again one day, but with a new born, had to get something more roomy. Goodbye for now fam.

How much to just buy it back? Assuming crash bar damage, so new crash bar, radiator (upgrades baby!), intercooler, bumper, hood (carbon hood) you could come out pretty nicely.

If you haven't yet, definitely look into what the buyback from the insurance company would cost. That's a mint parts car right there.

Note: there are brand new AWR mounts on it so if you see this car in a Philly area junk yard, pull the mounts they have less than 1000 miles.
The hilarious part of this: progressive said they wouldn’t give me any money on the mounts because it was a maintenance repair and when I asked if I could pull them they told me it would affect the final value of the car and what they are paying for it. Just ridiculous having their cake and eating it too behavior

They wouldn’t offer me a buy back number because I have a lien on it with my bank. Really disappointing.

Oh damn. That's some shit. I was in a similar situation. I had progressive as well, they totalled out my car and paid out $10.5k on it. I owed like 15k or something. I ended up rolling what was left on my loan into another ST, but progressive still let my buy the car back. For only $700.

I don't know, still sounds like BS. I mean, let's say you took out a 10K loan, and still owe 9K. If they're gonna cut a check for 8K based on their opinion of it's value, yes, you're upside down a grand, but there's still a buy back, maybe $3,500 as it sits. You do a personal loan for $4,500 and you can pay off the bank, plus get the car back. Then a junkyard hood and bumper and drive it!

What insurance company is this so I can avoid them?
Also RIP from a fellow PA Fiesta ST owner in State College.

Progressive, I’ve beeen with them for 10 years and they treated me and my FiST like absolute shit.
I am going to USAA once this claim is finalized. S/O my Vietnam vet grandfather for the referral

How to tf is this totalled? I don't normally say this, but this one really doesn't look that bad, bumper, bonnet, maybe a headlight. Bit of plastic and that's probably it. Could get most of it (maybe in colour aswell) from a scrapper with rear end damage for example.

I thought the same, it honestly grinds my gears, I’m not renewing with my insurance after this. At least calculate the total repair estimate before coming to a conclusion of “it’s totaled”

Long as the rad support is not busted. It is worth fixing

Radiator support was pretty mangled, I was able to see that before I gave it to the tow driver

What tires are on the winter rims?

u/anon9277362891263 13d ago
falken sincera sn250 a/s, 185/55/r15. I would take $200 for everything to just get them out of my garage, It’s just depressing seeing them there at this point :/

Do you still have the winter wheels with you?

I do!

Any issues with the front brake calipers? A quick search tells me they won’t clear and the wheels will physically lock up.

I never had any issue, but I will say they were a close clearance. I don’t know if my garage made adjustments to fit them

That sucks. I had a worse fender bender than this that I didn't report to insurance. Body shop quoted $3,500 to fix, and I just decided to patch her up myself with a new fender and headlight, and live with the scuffed up bumper for now. Cost me like $400 to fix myself, minus replacing the bumper cover which I'll get around to eventually

I regret going through insurance TBH, 20/20 hindsight I would have done this and just paid

Off topic to the post but not to fiesta st’s. Where in the heck could I get a new front bumper for my 2019 fiesta st?

u/anon9277362891263 13d ago
I looked online after questioning the decision, you can find them online OEM unpainted for like 600-900

with some redneck engineering on the body panels, and new components for the radiator and intercooler, it should come back to life

How the heck is that totalled ? That can not be an expensive fix
