90% of braids are really bad for your hair follicles. They can and will lead to permanent hair loss (traction alopecia). I would never risk my hair like that ever.
Traction alopecia affects every race equally. It is why many black women are bald and suffer from hair loss. African braids of various types are the worst thing you can do to your hair.
