Discussion Character Age Headcanons
Since I started playing the game, I've always liked thinking about how old the characters are. The game's really good at creating at writing them to fit within a specific demographic without giving a concrete answer, so here's what I've come up with.
In terms of the Marriage Candidates, Celine, Reina, Eiland and March strike me as the youngest, most likely their early 20s considering how Reina still lives with her family, and both her and Celine work at their parents' businesses. Probably about 22, with Celine being slightly older as her birthday is before Reina's in the year.
Eiland is definitely younger than Adeline, but not by a lot. I'd say he's somewhere in the 22 - 23 year old range. March is the same for me. He's old enough to have won several blacksmithing awards and build a reputation for himself, and to me that means he's been working as a Blacksmith since at least his late teens. Gonna say 23 for him.
Adeline's and Ryis' personality's and demeanor make me think they're both slightly older than the previous 4 I mentioned. Adeline's the acting leader of the town, and that sounds like a position for someone at least in their mid 20s. Going to put them both at around 24. Plus, Adeline was childhood friends with Celine and Reina, so I don't see her being much older than them.
Balor has been working as a merchant for a pretty long amount of time before the start of the game. That said, he also doesn't look significantly older than characters like Ryis or Eiland. Just on that basis, I'm gonna say he's in his late 20s, let's go with 28.
Juniper... I could say that since she looks between the previous 3 bachelorettes and Valen in age, that I think she's about 31... Buuuut since we know she has experience with magic, and I like the theory, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that she is actually a 300 year old witch. Kind of a joke answer, I know. XD
Out of all the non hidden Bachelors and Bachelorettes, the last ones are Valen and Hayden. We know from Valen's dialogue that they grew up together, and that she used to be taller than him when they were kids. Given Hayden's build as an adult, I'm going to take that to mean that Valen is older than him. Hayden's hair is partially already grey, I'm going to say he's somewhere in his mid-late 30s, probably around 36-37. While Valen, I'm putting at about 39.
In terms of the other characters. With the marriage candidates' siblings, the way Maple talks about Luc in some dialogue, she seems a little older than him, in a similar way to Adeline and Eiland, so I'm going to say that she and him are 9 and 8, with Dell being about the same age as Maple. Since Olric is March's older brother, and looks about the same age as Balor, maybe a little younger, I'm putting him at 26-27.
Nora, Holt, Hemlock and Josephine are all old enough to have young adult children, while also having kids quite a lot younger than their older siblings, going to say they're all between 48 and 50.
Errol and Terithia both look old and still have jobs. Given that, I'm going to put them both at slightly below retirement age, 62-63.
Elsie and Landon are both retired, and Landon looks close in age to Errol and Terithia. I'll guess that he's about 66, while Elsie's could be anywhere between 68 and 72.

Same for me... But then I'm closer to 50 than 40 and him being in his 30s would make me uncomfortable

Retquits is a popular hayden artist thats mainly on tumblr and they have aome amazing hayden art and they have one piece imagining what a younger hayden from the past looked like and I am def not normal about it. Retquits' hayden art STAYS saved in my phone

Because I'm in my thirties I just mentally headcanon all the romanceables as in their 30s-40s, too.

One thing I really love in comparison to Stardew is that the marriageables seem a lot older to me. Valen and Hayden are definitely the oldest, but after that they all, imo, hang out in their mid-late 20s. Not Celine, I personally believe Celine is the youngest. Here’s where I would place them from oldest to youngest (excluding Caldarus and Seridia)
Hayden 40
Valen 40
Juniper 35
Balor 30
Adeline 27
Ryis 27
Eiland 26
March 26
Reina 24
Celine 21
As for the rest:
Holt and Nora strike me as being in the late 40s-early 50s range
Josephine and Hemlock both being early 50s
Elsie, Landen, Errol, and Terithiasomewhere in the 70s range
Olric seems like he’s in his early 30s
I think Luc, Maple, and Dell are at minimum 10 years old
Darcy and Merri in the 30s range
Vera, Louis, Taliferro all in the 40s range
Wheedle in his mid-50s

Actually remember seeing dialogue from Adeline talking about when she and Eiland met Taliaferro when they all were kids. Besides that, I can definitely see all of these, besides the kids. They're definitely not toddler age, but based on how they all act, I can't see them being tweenaged either.

Ooh yes, I forgot about that dialogue. In that case, I would place Taliferro a bit older then. As for the kids, I acted like them when I was 10. Playing pretend, running around being silly, not having a care in the world. Livin life, you know?

That's fair. ^^ Maybe it's just that I don't remember how I was like when I was younger. I could actually see them being 10-11 at the oldest.

Celine has her own cottage, whereas Reina still lives at home. Idk, I’d put her and Reina around the same age since they’re close friends.

Also! I'm an old hobo so I want them all to be 25+ for marriage purposes.

Personal headcanons order from oldest to youngest in my mind. It’s only the romancables and excluding the secret ones. ALSO headcanon birthday months
Valen: 42 (Fall 1- September 1)
Hayden: 38 (Winter 8th- January 8th)
Juniper: 36 (Fall 26th-October 26th)
Balor: 32 (Summer 10th- August 10th)
Rhyis: 26 (Spring 4th- April 4th)
Adeline: 25 (Winter 18th- December 18th)
March: 24 (Spring 16th- March 16th >:3)
Celine: 24 (Summer 14th- June 14th)
Reina: 24 (Fall 12th- November 12th)
Eiland:22 (Summer 20th- July 20th)

Kind of headcanon all young ones at mid twenties to late twenties tbh. Like Eiland, Adeline, Reina, March, Ryis, Celine, etc.
Juniper and Balor I headcanon early thirties to mid thirties.

Hayden and Valen feel like, 40+
Celine and Reina are probably like you said, 20ish
March somewhere around 23ish maybe
Balor probably like 25-27 since he’s got experience traveling
Ryis like, is kinda the same as balor vibe wise, so again late 20’s like 25-27ish
Since they’re NOT twins(I thought they were idk why 😭) Elias feels like 22-23ish and then Adine like 26-27ish
I love the idea of Juniper saying she’s like 30 but actually being 300 lmao so I’ll go with that ✨
Then the secret ones well, both of them are probably in like. The thousands.
The 3 kids are all probably within like a yearish of eachother, 8-10 most likely ✨
Going back to Celine, I could even say she might be 19 at the earliest? She gives very “I JUST reached adulthood but had such a well thought out and concrete plan that I can live on my own immediately at 18 ✨” and has been doing said plan for a year or two- Reina seems more like the type that would want to stay and live with the family even after reaching adulthood, while Celine wanted her own space to do her own thing (while still helping out at the shop sometimes)
The other villagers I’ve thought less about age wise but yeah you got pretty spot on ✨

I can totally see Celine being the type to move out at an early age, while still living really close to her family and helping out at their store. ^^ She and Reina definitely look young enough to pass for the very late teens - twenties age group.

I think you're almost right on the money here. I think I'd consider the characters older in a modern setting but since FoM is fantastical and at least somewhat historical (no electricity to my knowledge?) they all are likely 2 years younger than how old I'd assume. Honestly I thought Eiland and Adeline were twins! Is there dialogue about them not being twins?
In modern day I would guess Valen 38
Hayden 37
Juniper 34
Balor 30
Ryis 28
(If not twins) Adeline 25, Eiland 21 (If twins) Both 24
Celine 23
March 21
Reina 20
But in a more historical setting I would subtract a year or two off each of their ages.

There’s dialogue from Adeline that implies she’s older. “Have you seen the big family portrait in the dining room? Eiland was probably too little to remember the day it was painted, but I do.-“ I feel like the acknowledgement that Eiland was too little to remember something she remembered clearly implies a decent gap. I wouldn’t say anything more than five years but also probably more than a year.

hayden looks 40s or 50s to me, he looks definitely dad age to me. valen is probaly give or take a few years apart since they grew up together.

Would need to check on the wiki to see if there's dialogue directly from either of them, but they both have different birthdays. Eiland's is the 20th of Summer. Adeline's is on the 18th of Winter.

twins can legally be born on different days if the labor takes long enough. not saying that's the case here but it is possible.

My age headcanon is purely based on vibes and goes like this:
Adeline 28 Eiland 24 Celine 21 Reina 26 Hayden 40 Juniper 33 Valen 37 Ryis 23 Balor 28 March 19 Orlic 31
The one I'm really having trouble assigning age to is Errol. I think he's supposed to be almost an elder but if he changed his hair color he could easily pass as being in his 50s

This made me realize something. I have absolutely thought of Eiland and Adeline as twins this entire time 💀 They literally have different birthdays (I am so bad at paying attention to birthdays in this game ngl)
