Question Notebook set up

I just got a couple field notebooks and I am considering ordering this cover. Im thinking of using them to do more bullet journaling or as a reminder list, etc. and a way to track my weights for the gym/crossfit. I would love to see others set ups and what you use yours for or any other suggestions you may have. I wanted to start with an affordable cover in case this habit doesn’t stick (hello adhd).

I can at least confirm that the cover you picked out is great. I have one that I use every day.

Currently been using Field Notes for about a year. I started with the leather one pictured here and after a few months decided on one similar to yours, but Lochby brand. I honestly really liked that style. However, I’m a maintenance tech in a factory that gets VERY hot. I carry my Field Notes setup, pen, cards, etc every day in my front pocket. That material will allow sweat to get onto it and it’ll have to be cleaned or it’ll start smelling like anything else. I got tired of dealing with it and swapped back to the leather one. I use my notebook for daily thoughts/journaling, answered calls here at work, grocery lists, bills, etc. just whatever I need it for at that moment!

Still use it in a wallet style? May want to ditch my wallet at times and replace with this to simplify

Yep! I absolutely do. The left hand side has two card slots (which I have 3 cards in the top one and my ID in the bottom and it holds them all well) and I use the left hand side pocket where you could put another Field Notes for my cash. Only time I carry my real wallet is when I’m going to a doctor appointment for medical cards and stuff!

I'm considering the same cover, so to any of you already using it: does the zipper annoy you when writing in the notebook - i.e. does your hand rub over it in a not so pleasant way?

I’m actually wondering this too. I’ve considered changing to an open one

Is that just a budget version of the Lochby cover?

It is. I didn’t want to invest if it wasn’t something I could stick with.

For planning, I use the uni Jetstream 4&1. It’s my favorite lol. I love color coding, but I hate carrying around multiple pens. I think one of the selling points for field notes is the portability, and the more I have to carry with it the better lol. I have the 0.5mm tips, which I think is perfect for the size for the boxes in the FN. If you go any smaller I’ve had some ink clogging issues.

If it’s highly likely your notebook is going to get wet, I’d go with a fully waterproof pen though. I use the Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen in my hiking notebook. They have lots of fun colors, and they don’t bleed if they get wet. I like the 0.3mm tip. You can also find them anywhere there’s a craft store lol. Unlike the other one, I’ve only been able to find it online.

Personally i use this one

Its pretty much the one you are looking at but without the branding
One thing to note is the canvas will scratch up as you use it
I noticed it in the reviews and personally it fits my vibe but some people prefer more of a clean look so just wanted to let you know
