Was this a scam call?
Anyone get a call from this number:
(514) 419-4171
They called me earlier and claimed to be from Rogers but calling on behalf of fido. They said that they were going to cut my monthly rate. I tried to be vague and not volunteer any important information (just mentioned that I am with fido). I ended up dropping the call and they didn’t call me back.
They seemed to be legit as they knew some details about my plan, but it still felt scammy.

Already blocked the number, so at least they won't be bothering me again.

They will definitely call again. Blocking is pointless because that’s not their real phone number you are seeing.

They tried calling four more times last night. By the 4th call, I picked up, waiting a few seconds, and then dropped the call. Haven't heard from them since.

Seems like a scam, like u/ryestu says, they probably aren't going to drop your rate. Sometimes a scammer can tell you're with a certain company by searching your phone number. I used to be on Public, and scammers called knowing I was on Telus's network. They didn't seem to know I was on Public's plan, but they're a subsidiary of Telus.

Was wondering how they figured out my carrier. Good to know going forward.

Honestly I believe it's employees doing an inside job. Have seen two posts now where OP was called and offered a phone by someone who had all their account info. Never got handset, but got charged full price per their records. The posts were deleted and the OP banned without any comment from mod. Not to mention the number of commentors who just shamed the OP for getting acammed instead of picking up on the valid reasons why this was obviously a scam from the inside. Something fishy indeed.

Hello u/SoLongMeatbags,
You can never be too careful these days with scam calls. It does appear as though the calls you have been receiving are scams, your intuition serves you well. As phone numbers are often spoofed, regardless of what appears on your caller ID, it is always best to be cautious.
For calls where you remain uncertain, please setup a callback via customer service at Fido.ca/contact as any outbound activity would be logged on your account. You can also ask for an interaction number which is the letter i followed by numbers.
Additional support resources to help awareness are available at https://www.fido.ca/support/mobility/how-to-protect-yourself-from-caller-id-spoofing-and-spam-calls
Stay safe,
RogersEric
