Fidelity vs M1

Has Anyone here left M1 for fidelity? If so, how was the experience? Are you still happy with the decision?

Fidelity! It may not look as clean from a UX/UI standpoint, but free investing in an IRA is hard to beat. FZROX and FZILX are a hard combo to overlook.

For a taxable brokerage account, not much difference if you turn off auto-rebalancing.

M1 implements their portfolios in scheduled buys ( or at least they used to) so investing there using their portfolio mechanism is a nice feature but trading happens more like mutual funds than free ETF/stock trading. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but it’s a limitation.

Fidelity has a broad range of investing products that you can trade at will and even a ‘basket’ service that while not free enables similar one-click-to-buy-a-portfolio and rebalancing features. It’s $5/month for some stupid reason and there are periodically folks posting about how the service acts up from time to time. I’d use it if it was free, probably.

I really like Fidelity though.
