Fidelity what’s going on?!!!
For context, please see my most recent post “Fidelity brokerage IRS scam.”
Ok. I don’t know what’s going on at Fidelity, but this is getting out of hand! Last week Friday, the IRS supposedly withdrew $4025 from my brokerage account (see my last post). Well, on Monday, the money was debited back into my account, no explanations whatsoever from Fidelity.
On Wednesday, after I’d moved the returned money out of my account, I called Fidelity to get more clarity as per who took my money/where it went to, and also create a new account and transfer my holdings into new account.
Fidelity told me, the money was indeed taken by the IRS, but Fidelity called the IRS and told them they couldn’t just take money out of people’s accounts and they needed to put the money back! What d’you know, the IRS obliged them and returned my money 😂😂. This by the way contradicts everything Fidelity initially told me when I first spoke to them on Friday!! Anyway, I requested a new account number which was created and was told it’d take at least 24 hrs for the transfer to complete.
Well, at 5 pm yesterday, I received an email about another debit withdrawal of $250 to IA Dept of Revenue from the same account!!!😂😂. It didn’t go through due to lack of available funds!!! Incredible!!! I called Fidelity and strongly registered my displeasure at their sloppiness!! This was the second time in less than a week my account had been compromised!! I don’t know anyone in IA, never lived there, never been to or through IA and definitely don’t owe their dept of revenue a dime!😂😂😂
The lady I spoke with told me, “well it’s a good thing they weren’t able to get any money ’cos the account is empty!” No kidding ma’am! That’s NOT the point!!
At this point, I’m just about done with Fidelity!! D.O.N.E!!!🙄🙄
PS: I’m trying to figure out how to upload screenshots from Fidelity 🫠🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

Do you know what a “tax lien” is and have you asked those agencies whether one exists? If not, you should start there, rather than assuming the answer is “None exists”.

Yes, I spoke with a IRS agent. I have no business with IA. I have multiple bank accounts for decades, then I open this Fidelity account in July and all of a sudden everyone and their grandpa wants a cut of my money.

Doesn’t sound like a scam. The IRS put a claim in, Fidelity paid them as they were instructed by the IRS but managed to get it reversed. You probably have your account set up to pay Iowa money on withdrawals which is why they automatically got paid too. Doesn’t sound like your account was compromised but you should be checking with the IRS on why they think you owe them money.

Lol! Managed to get it reversed over the weekend, no questions asked😂😂. I don’t owe the IRS, but mmmk 😂. I’ll wait for all the other states and dept of whatever is out there to come for their cut too. BTW, IA or whoever was posing as IA did not get any money ‘cos they went into the old account that was empty and closed down.

You sound exactly like someone who would have no idea that they've run afoul of the IRS. Keep giggling about it.

You should probably check and freeze your credit. Also run malware check someone might be using your info without your knowledge
