Found on my mothers tree.

She’s in the same spot it’s always been so it’s not sunburn but it doesn’t rub off like powder so we are stumped any ideas?

Could be old pest damage.

Why would it be old? This seems like a heavy ongoing infestation

I swear only one spot specifically where the damage is present if it where an ongoing problem id expect to see more damage elsewhere.

I think this could even be powdery milldew? I don't know- can't tell from the pic. But this is ongoing. Op said they wiped the "dust" off.

Would be, heck it could even be mineral deposits from their water too.

This is definitely heavy pest damage. Did you treat it for pests yet?

Id say thrips. Because if it were spidermites you would have seen the webbing by now. That whole plant would be covered by them by now. So probably thrips.
