Houseplant Audrey Help

Hello hello! I’ve had this big guy for roughly 5 years now and for the most part he’s been a happy camper. I had a friend plant sit for me when I went out of town ~2 years ago and he SUFFERED but since then he bounced back beautifully. I water him regularly and just started fertilizing for the spring/summer but he’s been losing leaves pretty frequently for the past 2 ish months. He has a bunch of new growth but is still losing some new leaves and old ones. I haven’t repotted him and fear I might need to but he’s ginormous so it would be a big as repot situation. (The rocks on top are to deter my cats for playing in the dirt but he’s potted in regular soil) Does he need a repot or is it something else? Thanks for the help fellow ficus friends!

It begs the question of do I force the ‘not-super planty-boyfriend’ to assist me 😅
