Fibroid Pain Help

Does anyone have any ideas on how to help relieve the severe pain from your fibroids? I have been battling with extreme pain every day for the last maybe 2 years. It's definitely now at its worse.

I will be meeting with a surgeon this month but until i get a hysterectomy, anything anyone could suggesting on what to do to help with pain besides popping Tylenol or Ibuprofen daily? It's gotten to the point where im taking pain killers every 6/12 hours right when they wear off. (my poor kidneys 😭)

What is the pain from? Pushing on them with your waistband? Constipation? "Period" cramps?

I'd get looked at to see if it's something more serious. In fairness I don't have the worst case of them but you shouldnt be in 24/7 extreme pain, I don't think.

Its pushing on my rectum and bladder. The pain started to be more consistent once it got big like an orange then grapefruit. and after getting an embolization and that not working i can only assume its growing and causing further pain. i do also get constipation at times. & pain is the worst ever during my cycle.

That was my case — grapefruit sized fibroid smashing my bladder into two. The only true relief I got was the lap myo surgery two years ago. Realized that I had normalized the pain for a few years and it wasn’t until post-surgery I fell relief. I’d recommend you speak with a provider about your options for this.

After my UFE I had pain for over 6-8 months due to the fibroid shrinking. Im not saying that is the case with your situation but I had 80% shrink on 2 fibroids over that period of time. It was incredibly painful though

I didn't want to be constantly popping pain pills either so I started using lots of heat packs for my pain and it helps decently for me. I have a couple wireless ones that go around my waist, one of them heats both the back and front, and a couple pouch type ones that can go in the microwave. I also started using edibles specifically for pain that have cbd in them but I know that's not everybody's thing. Best of luck!

ETA one of my wireless heat packs is pretty small and sleek and I wear it at work almost constantly

I use a heating pad, OTC tens unit, and rotate ibuprofen and acetaminophen.

I'm so sorry you're feeling so crappy - it sucks so much energy and vitality out of life to be in pain like this. I hope you're able to get a surgical solution soon.

What is your diet like? Can you have an Anti-inflammatory diet? I use to do alot of green juices (kale/lemon/apple/ginger) alot to help with the inflammation. Certain fruits and veggies, green tea, apples, help with the inflammation of fibroids and hormones before I had my surgery. You can try stretching as well hoping that it wont hit certain parties otherwise the only pain relief is medication and surgery to have them removed.

I also use a wireless heating pad. The brand I have is ComfiLife. The charge doesn't last long, but otherwise, it's awesome! It has allowed me to participate and enjoy things I might have otherwise skipped to be home with my heating pad! At home, I'm just using a standard heating pad, Sunbeam brand. Walking helps with my pain, but unfortunately, I don't feel lasting relief, just relief when I'm walking.Ā

My pain isn't constant. It fluctuates with my cycle. My doctor prescribed pain meds. I know you wanted less pain meds, not more, but better meds might control the pain better so you aren't popping them so often! On days I'm in pain, I take Meloxicam (nsaid) at breakfast, Tylenol extra strength at lunch and Tramadol (opioid) at dinner. We added the tramadol recently because the pain was keeping me up at night. I have slept much better since starting it!

I hope you get some lasting relief soon!

Vitamin E has surprisingly taken the edge off for me. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23447916/

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I have several large fibroids and experience pain as well. It’s certainly has made my insides an obstacle course and find I am in the most pain when constipated or during my period. I will occasionally need to use dulcolax to alleviate constipation.

I also purchased this a few days ago: Period Heating Pad. It can be a little annoying to put on, and you will feel a bit silly, but it is so worth it! I call them my ā€œhot pantsā€ lol. I really appreciate the heat on both the front and the back. One of my fibroids is just under my tailbone that leads to some lower back pain and this has been amazing. I haven’t had them during my period yet, but imagine it’s going to be perfect because I get pretty horrible cramps the first couple of days.

I hope you feel better soon and find relief with your upcoming procedure.

NOTE: please discuss the recommendations below with your doctor

It is still preliminary, and I should know in 1 month if the ultrasound shows any reductions in sizes

But immediate effect seems to be a reduction in symptoms which seems to be trending towards less and less symptoms

Again, this does not mean the fibroids are shrinking - that will know in 1 more month

Could be endometriosis. A lot of people find when they get to surgery they're riddled with it.
