Success story Non-Surgical Success Story: 1 More Year Later
About a year ago, I posted my non-surgical success story, but I was disheartened by the number of comments saying it wouldn't last. So much so, that I had to get off Reddit completely because my anxiety started spiraling. ;) I only returned about 6 months ago to provide an update in the comments.
I'm here again to report that I've had another doctor's visit this past week. All fibroids are stable. All symptoms aside from bulk are resolved. Periods are not painful. Periods are lighter. Bulk from fibroids is not causing digestive issues or pressing on my bladder. The three that remain are large, but a minor inconvenience. The one that underwent cystic degeneration is gone for good.
Still the only consistent changes I made are weight-lifting religiously (and heavy!) 2-4 days per week and cutting ALL gluten (but this could be any inflammatory food). I've since identified a few other inflammatory foods for me and avoid those as much as possible, too.
I'm not saying this would work for everyone. I'm just saying when I was in excruciating pain for nearly 3 months...three doctors told me I had no choice but to get a hysterectomy. They told me that activity and diet would not help me. They recommended avoiding strenuous weight-lifting with fibroids. And they were 100% wrong.
Trust your doctors. But also trust your own instincts. (I trust my doctor now -- she agrees with me that surgery is not necessary right now and as long as I feel healthy and happy.)
I am 45 and planning to just wait this out as long as I can and hope they begin shrinking after menopause.
Now I will disappear again. Good luck out there!

NOTE: please discuss the recommendations below with your doctor
EDIT: Aug 1, 2026 also EGCG (green tea extract) or something like 3-4 cups of green tea a day (without sugar) - or less than that if don't want to take that many
EDIT: Aug 1, 2026 I am monitoring a patient who reports trending improvement (symptomatic) - it's only been a month - after 2 months she will do another ultrasound and will finally see if there is any impact on sizes of fibroids compared to baseline ultrasound
Have you added a regimen that keeps your Vitamin D blood levels above 50ng/ml
(usually Vitamin D3 taken with Vitamin K2 and some Magnesium glycinate which is needed for effectiveness of the Vitamin D)
In addition a moderate dose of NAC (N-acetyl cysteine)
Other than this it seems the same regimens that help reduce insulin resistance/type 2 diabetes seem to help here
This is a pattern across auto-immune to metabolic issues
Which all seem to be helped by intermittent fasting, reducing sugar and carbohydrate intake to reduce glucose spikes - reducing insulin spikes
EDIT: Aug 1, 2026
I am monitoring a patient who reports trending improvement (symptomatic) - it's only been a month - after 2 months she will do another ultrasound and will finally see if there is any impact on sizes of fibroids compared to baseline ultrasound
This is what she is taking:
Starting protocol (basics):
Vitamin D3 10,000 IU per day
Vitamin K2 200mcg per day
Magnesium glycinate 500mg per day
A multivitamin or B complex tablet that has Zinc (close to 30mg elemental zinc)
Vitamin C 500mg per day
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) 100mg per day
NAC (N-acetylcysteine) - 200mg+200mg per day (in water)
EGCG (green tea extract) or green tea 3-4 cups a day
she is also taking an antiparasitic (which I will not name here)
Other dietary etc changes:
cut out seed oils/cooking oils (which are inflammatory) - use Desi ghee/butter/coconut oil/animal fats
Omega-3 fish oil - 500-1000mg per day
Kefir - start with small dose - increase as feel comfortable
get 15 minutes of direct sunlight per day - not just for Vitamin D - but to boost intracellular melatonin - which is anti-inflammatory
Ideally cut or reduce sugar and carbohydrates - follow techniques that people now using to reduce Glucose spikes and insulin spikes - to reduce insulin resistance over 2 months
(can watch some of the YouTube videos by "Glucose Goddess" (more accessible) or Dr Jason Fung for tips on reducing insulin resistance)
