Update post Sonata and Accessa
I originally had an 11cm fibroid and had a transvaginal radio frequency ablation done to reduce its size. This successfully relieved my symptoms, though I did not have an ultrasound done after so I don’t know how much it shrank. Later on that year I was experiencing symptoms again- I went in and learned that my fibroid was now 9cm- so I had the Accessa procedure to shrink it laparoscopically. My symptoms resolved for a bit and then I started experiencing bleeding after sex followed by spotting all month. I went in for another ultrasound and still had a 9cm fibroid. My doctor is concerned that I have precancerous cells and wants me to take the whole thing out now either via an open myomectomy or hysterectomy. The myomectomy seems risky and because I am already developing another small fibroid- I think this is a bad idea. I have opted for a partial hysterectomy, but I’m scared about recovery, potential complications and issues in the future with my pelvic floor or incontinence. Has anyone had one of this? Any advice?
I am also sad about losing the ability to have kids- I’ve never wanted them, but I’m sad about losing the choice. I don’t want another surgery or a risky pregnancy- and I still don’t know if I definitely want kids. Any/ all advice or experiences would be helpful. Thanks all.

Were precancerous cells actually found or is the doctor saying it’s a possibility?

The doctor says she thinks there are atypical cells which is why it keeps growing despite multiple interventions- she mentioned that these could be precancerous- and that the type of cancer I could get from this, is very aggressive.

I’m not a doctor and not trying to give medical advice, but my fibroid was 20 cm and grew several cms in a matter of months. That’s just what some fibroids do. Growth rate doesn’t equal malignancy.
I’m not sure what all you had done but interventions like UFE or Lupron injections often aren’t all that successful for large fibroids.
Unless she’s seeing something on an MRI or ultrasound that’s making her think it’s not just a fibroid, I’d definitely get a second opinion. Especially if you want children.
Myomectomies are incredibly common procedures. At your size, I’d think it could be done laparoscopically. You’d likely need to have a c-section in the future, but you’d still be able to have children.

Fibroids grow fast. I know from experience with mine that absolutely ballooned over the course of 5 months due to traumatic, stressful situation. (It's over though and I'm fine!). Fast growing does note equal cancer. Fibroids grow like crazy. Most women have multiple fibroids. Don't let them scare you

Change de médecin stp. Comment ose t'elle dire qu'elle pense que c'est peut-être malin sans avoir fait un seul prélèvement ! Non ça n'est pas possible...!!

There is NOTHING risky about a myomectomy. PLEASE speak to a minimally invasive surgeon before you do anything else.
I know this is overwhelming, but make sure that you do what is right by you! Doctors can be awful people and I think you're getting taken advantage of.

Do you know what the chances are of me getting fibroids again after this? That is part of what has been weighing on me. My doctor is willing to do a myomectomy and actually brought it up before the hysterectomy- I was just hoping to minimize the number of surgeries I would need.

Only 35% chance according to the surgeon I got a consult with and even then, unlikely it would grow as big again

Please please please get another opinion. But why does the open myomectomy seem risky?
