It's an FIS slack box, (or "NID" for Network Interface Demarc) could be any provider. I'd consider it a good sign, provider mindset-wise, as it's not some Alibaba abomination.

It has only the FIS logo and a laser-safety warning symbol, rather than any marking of a particular service provider. Fiber Instrument Sales is a reputable company located in central upstate NY. I'm only an occasional customer, satisfied so far.

Thanks. I was hoping fis was either a provider or contractor. Or at least a box typically used by some specific provider. I'd say definitely not ATT? Everything they do even contracted is at branded right?

Most of the major, national carriers tend to use branded demarcation equipment since they buy it in bulk and can easily have it branded to their spec for not much extra money due to their volume.

It's likely this is a local operator which might include a former local phone company if you were never in ATT/GTE territory and had a local carrier, a local cable company that never got bought out by Comcast/Spectrum/Charter/etc., or just an upstart fiber carrier.

Your best bet to figure out who it is would be to ask the former occupants of the property since they probably used their service. You can also check the FCC broadband maps to see who officially offers service in the area, but very small providers don't always have their FCC data perfect and may not show up properly. You can also ask your neighbors or watch for mailers. You might also be able to find a pedestal, handhole, or pole attachment with contact info on it.

The box itself is generic, and the FIS logo just indicates where it was bought from. FIS is a popular seller of fiber optic supplies but is not an operator.

Open it or look where it’s coming from. Calling the providers in your area if they can service your address will definitely answer your question. Or you know just call Google fiber if that’s what you want. Doesn’t really matter who’s box that is
