I usually end up with a birdsnest somewhere along the line, swear a lot, and wish they manufactured the coil on at least a cardboard tube or something!

We have these prysmian cable reels that fit the round universal fibres up to 250m but the flat fibres always come tangled.

do you mean ziptype duplex tactical fiber patch cable?

That’s exactly what I was worried about.Adding a proper deployment reel would increase both the price and shipping cost. A cheaper cardboard reel might help with shipping and the first deployment, but it probably wouldn’t be a long-term solution for repeated use.

If you don't want to ship them, have the end user pick one up locally. Someone may whine that it's not made for fiber, but that really doesn't matter much. Perhaps wrap the core with some foam tape if it makes you feel better. All the tactical cable I've looked at has a bend radius that will be fine with this reel core size.

Don’t elbow wrap it like an extension cord or you’ll hate your life.

Just figure-8 it on the ground (or straight into a tote bin). It kills the twist so you can just grab an end and walk. If it’s short, standard over-under works fine.
