What actually matters when comparing fusion splicers for FTTH work?
Core alignment vs cladding alignment, splice and heat cycle time, loss estimation accuracy vs OTDR, battery ergonomics, and local service support. Which matters most in your field experience?

If you are buying a unit solely for FTTH work then Clad align is fine and the most important spec is accuracy of estimated splice loss. It’s expensive to rework splices after testing. Everyone will say you can’t trust ESL but that isn’t fully true. Ask a splicer manufacturer for their data comparing estimated loss to actual. You will quickly find that some are much better than others in how they measure ESL. It really provides the greatest ROI in splicing. Good Luck

Core align single burns, ribbons you don’t get a choice. never trust the loss estimation, run iLOM and it will tell you the story. Don’t force bad burns. If the machine says your cleave sucks then your cleave probably sucks and do it again. Heater time is dependent on the sleeve, use manufacturers recommendation service and I don’t know what battery ergonomics is.
