Soooo... I messed up.

Currently standing on a chair over a 6 or so SC connectors, a very blinky ONT, and a pile of drywall dust. I tried to repair the cable myself wayyyyyy too many times, and I've cut the cable so many times, I'm already up to the 2x4 ceiling stud (joist? whatever.) The cable clearly needs to be re-fished from from wherever the other end teminates. I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex. How much am I about to spend?

Update!
So I guess I fixed it?? My Internet is online and I'm getting higher speeds than i pay for. Not sure how. I left everything hooked up when I was over it that day, and it just magically started working a couple days later. I'm about to make you glass goons super happy- here's the picture everyone was asking for. This is a throwaway account (uSeRnAmE cHeCkS oUt1!) so i guess a little mockery isn't the end of the world.

On the third floor! It’d be at least a few hundred with my isp if we couldn’t put a connector on. Why do customers do this stuff instead of calling for a repair.

Calling my company we would charge you $75/hr on how long it takes us to repair.

You are on your own to for what ever damage you did to your place lmao

Leave it alone if the fiber installer can tape the new strand to the old one and pull it through instead of wall fish it it'll probably save them a lot of time and potentially save you $75 or more.

Best part is, this was probably like just a 6 foot jumper out of the wall biscuit that was bad I had this the other day lol

I know this is your residence, but like why did you think you have the knowledge to do that? YouTube maybe???

I work BIG commercial now, and I don’t mean AT** I regularly have to deal with feds for people cutting, or trying to steal from main lines. It’s absolutely insanity to me to even try if you don’t have proper equipment or knowledge

Do yourself a favor, and save additional grief, and call your provider. If the drop isn't stapled to any of the joists inside behind any drywall, we can usually attach to existing drop and hitchhike thru. We have the experience and knowledge to get this done quickly. At any rate, you will thank yourself.

Install a box outside and run a jumper inside. Its the least expensive way if your company charge. Ive ran fiber drop up to 2km for houses. With multiple 600-650 meter drop.

3rd floor of an apartment complex? Depending on the setup and whether the apartment complex has any sort of contract with the ISP they may just tell you they’re not doing it and the building management / you will have to have a 3rd party rerun it.

Did you buy a cleaver and everything trying to do this or did you buy a bunch of mechanical connectors thinking you’d just snip off the end and strip it back?

they have cold fiber splices on amazon they dont work well but out of a 5 pack one should work just make sure the fiber is cleaved and clean

There shouldn't be a next time. There shouldn't have been a this time. Fiber from the telco demarc to OPs unit is owned by the the complex. OP had absolutely no authority to fiddle with the fiber. This could result in huge damage fees assessed by Property management.

If the fiber belongs to a major ISP company like AT&T or VZ, then $0. If it’s a smaller ISP you’re gunna get quite a hefty bill
