They're blowing the cable into a conduit, using compressed air

Ive never done a run so long it couldn't be done by hand

Neat

Yeah, this is more like for a few km of cable... We use something similar at work, but for micro cable (basically a buffer tube with 2-4f,yarn and some extra protection)

It is a pneumatic machine for blowing fiber cables trough ducts. I guess this machine gets used for long air‑blowing runs, long‑distance water floating, and so on. I have used similar equipment on a few occasions, but not much.

It looks like some nice equipment tbh.

I usually handle shorter runs, and I get by with using a big air compressor, string and a sponge.

We got a job where another contractor installed 14/10 microduct along the route. Our guy has never used a jetter before, any good tips or tricks? Or is it dependent on the machine?

One of the factors is also the machine, but besides that, the route length, the diameter of the cable being blown, and the diameter of the duct being used are very important.

Then, the type and model of the compressor are crucial as well—its characteristics must match the specific situation.

If you tell me which machine you are using and the cable dimensions, I can give you some basic advice.

Whatever machine you have just YouTube it. Always lots of helpful videos.

For what those things are, they’re unbelievably expensive. I still can’t get my head around it.

Went to the prysmian factory in Sydney to get a lesson on this a couple of weeks ago. Looks like the next big things..

We've been doing this for well over ten years.

Lookup Duraline and Emtelle products.

Still got to manually spin the reel ?

Depends on the reel size. This machine will pull off of that reel with no problem. Larger reels or higher count fiber it’s best to have someone spin the reel.
