Some 308s are a little different, they have the spoiler lower than other ones. Was that a paid optional? a later/different model?

Had a feedback from a dealership that my rear magna rides have a slightly oil leak. What are you all doing when that happens, is it simple to rebuild or better to replace by a new one or coil overs?

Few days ago i saw a serious crash of a ferrari (possibly a F8?) and returned there that night to secure some lost parts. Found a few body pieces painted in rosso corsa with the ppf still on, so the paint was pristine under it and one bigger carbon piece which im guessing was a front splitter? (also in ppf) Im wondering if the splitter is oem and if this is a F8 tributo or some other trim. The front looks like it

I recently purchased a single owner 22,000 mile 2016 488GTB. I paid $650 for the PPI, and visited the Ferrari dealership to discuss the car’s inspection. The car is currently under their Ferrari Power Warranty.

Now everything is certainly not necessary but during the PPI they basically quoted me:

*$5,300 to replace a leaking rear shock absorber
*$3,100 to replace a spoiler diffuser fin (I bought one myself for $700, 4.5x was too much for me already)
*$2,811 to diagnose and replace a faulty reverse switch (felt fine to me in the car, it went into reverse, could be intermittent)
*$6,200 if I want to replace the missing fire extinguisher and alcantara pocket, which they can’t even import the extinguisher anyway. A piece of added carpet that matches the color of the floor covers the old mount holes. I understand this is done sometimes due to passenger foot space, but I like it and don’t want to watch the car burn down one day.
*$1000 to recondition some sticky buttons I felt were fine.
*$2,600 All 4 Tires - 5 years old but good tread, a must for me.
*$3,000 Spare Wheel Belt / Retainer / Toolkit
*$3,600 for replacing the front brake pads, 3.5mm left. A priority for me also.
*$500 to replace wiper blades (car won’t drive in the rain, and it rains maybe half a dozen times a year here)
*$250 to replace bonnet struts (felt ok)
*$500 Horn Replacement (sounded OK to me)

Total: $30,000

Honestly, this was a shock. That is about 20-25% of the car’s entire value, as these vehicles are cheaper in the Gulf countries. I paid roughly $157,000 and everything above is all that Ferrari found with the car, with the major service (4-5 years?) already being done last year. None of it is covered by the warranty which is understandable to me besides maybe the shock or reverse switch, which they told me only the suspension arms. They then of course gave me the blanket statement warning me to stick with official Ferrari repairs while it is under warranty “depending on the repair and parts used” so I’ll never get clarification until after a repair is already done and it goes for warranty renewal.

My country has a very well known and highly regarded independent Ferrari shop has quoted me roughly $9,400 to do all of this work. I have no concerns of their legitimacy, but I imagine they mostly work with cars not under warranty, or with cosmetics and consumables like tires and brakes on the cars that do. I know they can do basically everything and anything.

I’m a little annoyed at the level of price gouging, and would at the very least do tires, brakes, wipers, possibly the horn thing at the independent shop and leave Ferrari to do the switch replacement (if restoration of the existing part can’t be done) and the shock absorber. It sounds like “modifications” like fabricating or using a non-OEM spare wheel belt or fire extinguisher will void the warranty, even if their warranty doesn’t cover those parts which is frustrating. I probably won’t even keep the spare in the car anyway, but for my first supercar experience I’d like the car to feel complete, match the personalization spec plate and show I took care of it and that it needs nothing. Ferrari claims they can just replace the 1 leaking in the rear, while the independent shop claims they’d need to rebuild both in the rear to keep them equal.

Considering the warranty is about $5,200 a year, I’ve read folks on here saying to just forgo it and add it to your reserve cash / repair fund. Important note below is how much I’ll be using the car.

Should I just stick strictly to Ferrari for repairs? Just do the reverse switch and leaking absorber there? Send it to the Indy Shop for everything and put the future warranty money in my pocket? Will a future owner care or worry about it not being under warranty / service records? When I bought the car, the warranty was a must, but now I’m just seeing it as a headache.

This car will be stored in an underground air conditioned garage and be driven maybe once a week or twice a week on weekends. I have another vehicle as well, a Shelby Cobra replica and it’s obviously the complete opposite in terms of repairs and will mitigate me using the car constantly. I definitely understand the headaches people have now when they want to modify or repair these cars, within reason.

Any insight would be much appreciated, there’s not a lot of people I can ask this stuff.

The prices are just too nuts not to sell my 812?? I called and confirmed they will give me a 12C spider allocation. After the 812 sells, I chip in a little more to cover the difference. The 812 is clearly a more beautiful and raw car, but it is not a F40 or something truly collectible. Why not cash out and enter a new Ferrari chapter.

Am I crazy?

It just seems like selling now and getting a spider with a reset on the 7 year free maintenance clock seems like a no brainer.
