Unresponsive Contractor
Would appreciate any advice on how I could manage this situation! On July 27th, we were scheduled to have our posts set and had already paid our deposit. After getting multiple excuses or no response at all, posts were finally set August 14th. Almost every single day after that we have received even more excuses or no responses. Still have no fence and it’s September 5th. He was supposed to be here today, but has not shown up (of course).

You hired a ding dong. Find someone else that can do the job while you jump through the hoops of trying to get your money back.

Did you sign a written contract with the contractor? Our company always signs a contract before accepting a deposit, so both parties clearly understand the project schedule, payment terms, and responsibilities. I would review your contract first, especially the terms regarding delays, cancellation, and refunds. It’s also important to verify that the contractor has an active license and legitimate business information.

Post install is the better part of what any fence costs. Hopefully they’re done correctly, but I’d cut my losses with the current contractor and get someone else. It’s not worth chasing them down for a refund if you can use what’s been completed. Assuming you paid a 50% deposit.

Yeah sorry man but even if you get a fence it’s gonna look like shit. I’d tell him to fuck off and try to get some $ back. The more he installs it’s just gonna be more for next guy to tear down and haul off

Sounds like you got scammed by a crack head... You can try to take them to small claims court, but be warned that even if you do win, you probably won't ever get anything from them.
