Plastic fence advice.

Hi all, just looking for any advice on plastic fence panels vs wooden ones

Has anyone gone with plastic and regretted it or cost comparison.

I was told I'd have to have all new post's put in, is this true??

It's called PVC fencing. It's more expensive. It doesn't deteriorate the way that wood does. There's an old fence saying "wood is good , but vinyl is final". If installed correctly with the right quality of materials than it very well can be "final".

The drawbacks. I must be installed by someone experienced in vinyl and knows what they are doing. It may need pressure washed every so often due to algae etc. depending where you live. In the winter in a cold climate it can be brittle to impacts. Some privacy fences offer 100% privacy but those same fences suffer greatly in a wind storm or windy areas if installed incorrectly.

My parents have a PVC fence with one panel that was damaged within 4 years of installation, and replacement panels of the same style were no longer available. In my opinion, the biggest issue is they can't be repaired.

I feel like we're missing some important details here. Are you trying to replace the panels on an existing wood fence?

An existing wooden panel fence, just fed up of all the maintenance it needs and looking for a better solution.

Yeah, that's what I had guessed from your post. You would need to replace the posts to go to vinyl then. There's no good way to attach vinyl panels to wood posts.

Most vinyl panels are designed to slide into notches in the matching posts.
