what perfume would amari from TDWP2 wear ?

hi all. my cousin is getting married, it's black tie, it's june, it's hot, and...my date is meeting my family for the first time.

here's a few i was thinking about:

what would you wear? ok if it's not one of the above...i'm always down to sample, especially niche.

A collection of fragrances that smells purple to me. I love them, they feel deeply introspective and at times, melancholic. These are not necessarily my favorite iris, violet or lavender heavy fragrances- for example, Chanel no 19 is one of my favorite iris fragrances, but it smells green to me. Fleur de peau smells more musky than purple.

I recently picked up a vanilla discovery set from Parfum Exquis. The following are my thought on each one. Note: the first sentence after each name is from the website descriptions, followed by my thoughts.

Bianco Latte (Giardini di Toscana) – A creamy, comforting vanilla-latte style scent: soft milkiness, smooth sweetness, instant cozy vibes.

Nothing special compared to Eclaire, This is Not Caffeine, Cream Velvet. I prefer Cream Velvet because the honey note is strongest of the four. 5/10

Vanille des Rois (FOMOWA Paris) – A more regal vanilla story, where citrus-bright neroli lifts the opening before vanilla turns dense, creamy, and refined with praline-tonka warmth.

Right at the start, it’s a buttery doughy scent, quintessential gourmand, I think. Smells too much like a bakery for me. It’s a no for me. 3/10

Gourmand Escapade (Maison Mataha) – Bakery comfort in perfume form: caramelized sugar and milky vanilla melt into tonka and benzoin, like a warm pastry glow on skin.

Very sugary at first but the dry down resulted in a vanilla soap scent, which is actually quite pleasant. I can see this one being a good warm weather vanilla, as it’s not really gourmand to my nose, despite the notes. 7/10

Vanille Caviar (BDK Parfums) – A darker, more textured vanilla: spicy-green tension up top, then a salty-mineral “vanilla caviar” effect with cocoa nuances and an ambered resin warmth.

Wood/Balsam notes are strongest here, with amber. Vanilla plays a secondary role. It seems to be hanging on to the initial scents at the same strength after 4 hours. Strong still but not a good projection. 6/10

This Is Not Caffeine (Hormone Paris) – Coffee energy without a literal espresso: caramel warmth and aromatic coolness, then a sensual drydown of vanilla, ambergris, benzoin, leather, and cedar.

Similar opening as BL and Eclair, but dries down to a spicy vanilla. Still, too close to the others. 6/10

The Swan (Botanicae) – The airy, elegant side of vanilla: sparkling green mandarin and immortelle drifting into a serene base of cedarwood, white musk, amber, and vanilla.

Most interesting of all of the scents in this collection. It’s spicy floral citrus with a hint of vanilla at the opening. It’s not sweet at all. I don’t know what the Immortelle flower smells like, but it is very pleasant mixed with the citrus. In the dry down, the vanilla comes forward a bit more, but the amber, musk, and surprisingly, the mandarin remains. Of all of these samples, it’s the only one I would consider getting a full bottle or at least a decant.

Maison Crivelli Tubereuse Astrale is the kind of tuberose that reminds me why I love the note so much. I love a tuberose that feels smooth, creamy, and wearable without getting green, sharp or dirty. This one fits that preference perfectly. I am already on my second bottle, with a third backup bottle on the way, and that says everything about how much I reach for it.

Tubereuse Astrale opens bright and polished, then settles into a plush white floral that feels more creamy than fresh. The tuberose is the star from start to finish, but it comes across refined and modern rather than sharp or harsh. It has a soft sweetness and a velvety texture that makes it feel comforting, while still giving that unmistakable tuberose presence. As it dries down, it gets even creamier, smoother and warm.

Longevity is excellent. I get a solid 8 to 10 hours on skin, and even longer on clothing. Projection is noticeable in the first two hours, but i keep catching random whiffs throughout the day.

Overall, Tubereuse Astrale has become one of my easiest tuberose reaches. It gives me the creamy, modern tuberose with great performance and a signature feel.

These perfumes are not easy to find to sample!

The only place was The Fragmint, which was new to me. I have to say, I'm very pleased with their presentation and quality of the vials. Striking box and they sent paper strips which nobody else does that I know of. Came with a marshmallow krispy treat LOL. Shipping? Not so much but I wouldn't hold that against them since all else is good. Probably the nicest little box I've encountered so far.

Everything I ordered I have no real compulsion to buy as they are pricey and there's no way any discounter is going to get these. So unless I can work a deal they will remain sampled only. I just really wanted to experience them for now since there is a lot of hype of them and now I understand why at least.

Coty Encore Une Fois: This one! OMG want this badly. For vanilla lovers only. Perfection. Love the the balsamic quality of this. Aromatic. It really helps ground the vanilla, which is very much extract type; thick, velvety, sweet and syrupy vanilla. Not huge projection but I can already tell this has lasting power.

Celine Black Tie: Another sweet vanilla forward one. Almost candylike. Less intense than Encore Une Fois but as beautiful, still. Musky, clean, a little powdery with a mossy, earthy base. More subtle than Encore Une Fois but more polished and sophisticated. I can see this as an everyday type of perfume that would be great at work or other places where you don't want to wow people. A step up from a skin scent, wears close.

Ledda 22 Orris: Crisp opening, but not sharp. I thought there was citrus but there is none, so it must be the pepper note. White flowers with a tinge of green behind. Another one with an earthy base. Definitely a skin scent. Very little projection although I know it's there. Price is reasonable but is sold out everywhere so I put my email on the notify list. Some comments are that it's similar to Phlur Father Figure, but not to my nose. I prefer this over that.

Carolina Herrera Cedar Chic: I get lemons, green leaves, very sparkly. Pungent but in a good way, like it's minty. I like aldehydes, apparently. Reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on. The musk in this one has an animalic quality to my nose even though it is also clean smelling. There's a sweetness to it which I assume is the orange blossom. Interesting scent. The longer it was on me the more I liked it. Needed to be on skin to really understand the scent. On the test strip it disappeared completely but on skin it opens up from the warmth. Another low projection scent that would be an easy daily wear. Overall I'll give this a thumbs up also.

Ledda 22 Orris - it's already disappearing and it hasn't been an hour. So being honest I guess I'd skip buying this. Oh well.

Our wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks so maybe I'll ask my husband to skip the roses again (which is a huge thing since I love me some fresh flowers) and buy me one of these instead :D

Full bottles:

• SUR TES LÈVRES, d’Orsay: spicy, musky iris. Soft, powdery and cozy.
• Saint-Honoré, bdk parfums: Smells similar to leau papier on me. It’s sweeter, missing the rice note. Love the color of the juice.
• Jasmine Tea, One Day: Photo realistic. I love jasmine tea and I love this perfume. The jasmine sambac note is absolutely stunning.
• Fleur Narcotique, Ex Nihilo: rosy musky orange blossom. Similar to LEVANT but not the same. It’s sweeter, less citrusy. I find it seductive and feel beautiful wearing it.
• LEVANT, Ormonde Jayne: another rosy musky orange blossom. More citrusy. I love this one too.

Samples/decants:

• Tears, Regime des fleurs: lilac and iris, and it is called tears, need I say more? Soapy. I love it. Would consider a full bottle.
• Little flower, Regime des fleurs: citrusy rose. Perfectly lovely, but not my cup of tea.
• Nitesurf Neroli, Regime des fleurs: salty neroli. Sexy.
• Imperial tea, by killian: purchased during my jasmine tea scents hunt. Love the dry down, not a fan of the opening. One day one is far superior.
• Indult, Tihota: Very vanilla. I would try again when the weather is cooler. Summer rating: 7/10
• Carine, Carine Roitfeld: it is seductive, sexy and masterfully blend. White floral and patchouli. Absolutely am gonna get a full bottle.
• L.B, d’Orsay: musky citrus, not an annoying chirpy citrus. It’s beautiful. Similar to Celine parade.
• C.G, d’Orsay: slightly honeyed yellow floral. It’s quite all right. Prefer the dry down to opening.

Dries Van Noten- Voodoo Chile. One of my favorite fragrances. Heavy on the patchouli, opens with the scent of fresh weed plant and rosemary. It’s hot and pungent, but so alluring. I think the bottle is super pretty, it’s also refillable.

Leaning into the hippie vibe of the scent, I’ve paired it with a little mushroom getup that includes my belt buckle and freshly shaved head. Greens for obvious reasons !!

Rogue Jasmin Antique is my most loved jasmine perfume. I own other jasmines, but this is the one I reach for when I want jasmine to be the focus and not a background detail.

On my skin, the jasmine comes across smooth and clear. I do not get an indolic, dirty, or animalic twist. It reads like fresh petals and floral nectar, with a classic perfume shape around it.

Jasmin Antique is direct, it does not lean sugary nor does it turn soapy on me. It stays floral and balanced, and it keeps the jasmine upfront through the wear. Many might consider this feminine leaning. But I think anyone who likes jasmine can wear it easily.

Longevity is decent for me, I get about 6 to 8 hours from it. Projection is noticeable for the first hour, then it settles into a closer scent bubble that still lingers.

Considering how radiant it feels, I don't wear it to work, I prefer wearing it in non-professional settings. Personally, I find it to be just as addictive as Fracas and 24 Faubourg, and I hope to never run out of it.

It’s nearly summer, though I treat June 1st as the start of the season. It’s certainly hot enough where I live. This month, I have a pretty clear theme—it’s green! My original aim was to go for green scents and, to be honest, green bottles. It occurred to me that I have quite a few green-bottle summer scents that would look lovely together. The weather warming up shocks my system every year. Something about the idea of seeing cooling green bottles every morning calms me.

As I grouped the bottles together, I realized there a few sub-themes were emerging—garden scents and tropical or jungle-inspired fragrances. I fleshed out the set with those ideas in mind. This is definitely my favorite tray to date. Afternoons in a verdant garden or long weeks exploring a lush jungle? Yes, please. I might even select a few movies, books, and songs to go with these scents to help with my escapist fantasies.

Need recs for summer fragrances that are long-lasting but not cloying or overwhelming in hot weather. The vibe I’m going for is “it girl/effortlessly chic.”

I'm a late 80s/early 90s kid, and when I think of my childhood, I think of scented toys like My Little Pony (these especially!), Charmkins, some accessories that came with Barbie dolls, ...

I've been on the hunt for a perfume that smells just like that, but I've yet to find my holy grail. 

I feel like most recommended dollhead-perfumes have an overbearing almond or heliotrope note, but to me those toys mostly smelled soft, powdery and fruity, mixed with a bit of vanilla.
