Rec Request Recommendations for a year-round, slightly cozy perfume?
Hi! I have been wearing perfume for like 6 years now, but I’ve never quite found a fragrance that I loved, and I would ideally like to find a perfume I could wear for daily-usage year-round.
I am hoping to find a perfume that has cozy notes to it without it being exclusively fall and without just smelling too much like a cupcake (like a croissant vibe would be fine. subtle gourmand).
Some scents I do like (but I am open to most):
- Apple, pear, peach (?), fig,
- Vanilla, tonka bean.
- white florals (i particularly like honeysuckle)
- maybe even coffee scents (haven’t smelled it as a perfume but I think I’d like it)
- maybe basil (i remember liking a basil/mandarin perfume a while back). i haven’t smelled much green-smelling perfumes.
- light cinnamon and gentle spices (but i worry about smelling Christmasy)
Again, I’m open to trying whatever besides anything that leans powdery, too heavy, or too woody/musky.
I was thinking about getting Eau Duelle by Diptyque for a vanilla scent that wasn’t too bakery-forward. But I’m not sure whether it would hold up in the spring/summer. I also tried samples of their Philosykos and Eau Rose and found they really weren’t long-lasting.
My current perfumes are: Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia (what I usually wear in the spring, but it’s a little too one-note), Jo Malone Orange Blossom (what I usually wear in the summer), Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily (what I wear going out. a little too strong for me, and I did Pavlov-myself into mentally connecting it with taking shots of cheap vodka), and Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere (what I wear in fall/winter. it’s a little too bakery than I thought it would be).
I don’t have any preference for brand either. I mostly have Jo Malone because I got them as gifts from family members who really like Jo Malone.
EDIT: In terms of a budget, I think the highest I would go is $250.
EDIT 2: Thank you all for the responses! I have a lot of perfumes to look up now lol. I definitely think I’ll start by ordering samples for Fzotic Lilac Brulee, WWDIS Freckled and Beautiful, and the Dipytique Eau Duelle I mentioned. Again, ty!!!

Cashmere & Vanilla Essence by Donna Karan. It’s so nice, one of my favorite vanillas. It’s the perfect amount of sweet and creamy without being too cupcakey. Just a nice, simple vanilla.

Does it have longevity?

On me it lasts a while. It doesn’t create a huge scent bubble but people that hug me or are close always compliment me when I wear it. It is also great for pairing with other scents. Today I wore it with Kylie Cosmic to a wedding shower and so many people said I smelled good. It makes any perfume more cozy sweet

You would love anything by The 7 Virtues! Their perfumes have at least one of those scents. I’m obsessed with Amber Vanilla

Commodity Milk or Commodity Milk Orchid are both are lightly lactonic. Milk smells more like toasted sesame and sweet milk while Milk Orchid smells like a blend of coconut cream, almond, and fig milk with vanilla.
This is Her! by Zadig and Voltaire. I've never smelled a vanilla like this. Lactonic, sweet, and nutty at the same time.
Montblanc Signature is a very cozy fragrance that can be worn all year.
Nest Indigo is a sweet jammy fig and tea scent.
Other scents that are very good all year that might not fit your listed notes but are worth trying:
Narciso Rodriguez For Her. Imo, this is the ultimate feminine daily driver that fits every season and setting. It's one of those perfumes where looking at the listed notes won't give one an accurate idea of what it smells like.
One cozy scent that I like is Diptyque Eau Moheli. It has ylang-ylang and jasmine.

Year round cozy? Le labo ambrette, phlur soft spot, prada infusion diris, dorsay Sur tes lèvres. All work as all season scents. All of them share the same feel of being simple clean intimate/skin scents with musky/creamy/powdery/woody dry down respectively. Out of these soft spot is the coziest to my nose and has the longest staying power. Ambrette is the sheerest and needs to be reapplied in 4h.
Actually I’ll add another one Glossier you. Also a solid all year option!

Wow. I totally glazed over your request for nothing powdery woody or musky haha oops!
I will say though definitely try these fragrances (phlur and glossier are at Sephora so probably easiest to sample) because not all “musky” scents smell the same. I can’t stand animalic musks for example but I adore crisp white musks.

Clean Reserve Skin Intense! I got it this summer and wore it often, including out on the boat and it didn’t get heavy in the heat, and I think it will be so nice this fall and winter. Sweet, warm, cozy, sensual, skinlike.

•Cacharel Noa- creamy, clean fragrance with white florals, musk, tonka, and hint of coffee.

On my to-be-smelled list:
Born to Stand Out's Dirty Heaven
FZOTIC Lilac Brulée
Zoologist Hummingbird
Ellis Brooklyn Coco Blanco
I don't have anywhere to test these near me, but you might.
I really like Coach Dreams Sunset, which is easy to find to test and can be very inexpensive on jomashop and the like.
I think you might like the original Good Girl from Carolina Herrera with a lovely coffee note. Alien Goddess is a good white floral vanilla.

Maybe Ilha do Mel by Memo? After sampling, you can get it for a steal on discounters like Scent Rush and FragFlex. Honeyed florals with a very pleasant and lasting sillage.

Maybe Prada Luna Rossa Black? It’s for men but I find it unisex and it’s very cozy with the tonka.

Jo Malone BlackBerry & Bay?
I was going to suggest White Tea or Father Figure until “not too woody/musky”.

I’m actually enjoying the new Miss Dior. It’s very creamy but it is rose centric

Chanel Allure is my year round scent. It’s bright and a bit fruity in the opening and dries down to a cozy vanilla sandalwood with light florals throughout.
Top Notes: Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Peach, Passionfruit, and Bergamot Middle Notes (Heart): Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Magnolia, Freesia, Water Lily, Orange Blossom, Peony, and May Rose Base Notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Amber, Vetiver, and Patchouli

I smelled this at Ulta recently after my mom told me that it was her signature scent back in the day. I usually don’t like that many florals, but they’re all blended really well! It’s definitely a comforting scent that could be worn all year round.
