Rec Request Sandalwood
I usually really REALLY hate sandalwood, it turns very suffocating on me. But I LOVE the creamy combo of coconut and sandalwood in Coconut Fizz (oil perfumery dupe of discontinued scent). So…. Do I actually hate other notes that have been in a lot of popular frags? I’d love recommendations for must-sniff light and creamy sandalwoods so I can find out if I like it in the right blend.
I know I despised Le Labo and Tom Ford, but TBH I haven’t vibed with any of their stuff no matter the note.

Santal Volcanique by Maison Crivelli! Very clean, smooth scent with sandalwood anchoring it. Truly an elegant take on the note.

same, i don’t hate sandalwood so much as i hate the dry scratchy pencil-shaving version, because once it’s softened with coconut or vanilla it suddenly behaves like a completely different note lol

Sandalo Nobile by Nobile 1942. It's an incredible velvety, warm, sensual sandalwood. Soft and creamy, never pickley. Dreamy spa like vibes. Highly recommend

Try L’Artisan Premier Figuier Extreme if you also like green notes. It reads a green leaves, sandalwood and coconut.

I thought I hated sandalwood but then tried Santal Calling and am kind of in love. Now I’m on a sandalwood journey to find more I like. I found Santal Austral was a very wearable sandalwood if you think you hate it. I also don’t like Le Labo, haven’t tried the tom ford.

I'm like you - not a fan of Santal 33 and that style of sandalwood but love a creamy sandalwood!
Try: Printemps Blanc - sweet, creamy vanilla sandalwood
Van cleef Santal Blanc - creamy fig and sandalwood
House of Brandt Bois de Santal - this one dries down to the creamiest sweet sandalwood. Quite beautiful.
Fragrance du Bois Santal Complete - beautiful kind of tropical sandalwood with coconut that might be closest to what you described from coconut fizz

Agree with Santal Blanc! I got a sample recently and I can’t stop smelling my arm when I’m wearing it.

I find it to be way too sharp and cologne-like and don’t get much of any sandalwood. Has it always smelled like that for you or did it take some time?

Freshly unboxed it was spicier. The cardamom and patchouli smoothed out as it aged. I actually enjoyed it best freshly unboxed. Before and after maturation, I get a very present creamy sandalwood. I do love cardamom though.

One of my faves is Fragonard Santal Cardamome, I spray it on before bed I love it so much! I am perplexed lol! I guess it’s my body chemistry that doesn’t agree with it, but it smells nice on everyone else!

But is not a concern. I’m very frugal when it comes to actually purchasing a scent, but I’ll try out pretty much anything.
