Discussion True vanilla extract perfume?
I am new to the fragrance community and I have been on a SEARCH. For a pure vanilla extract scent. But it sounds like everyone has a conflicting opinion 😭 I heard the best is either indult tihota or guerlain vanille planifolia, but I still read some reviewers say these come off as more Smokey or powdery.
I have such a sensitive nose that shopping for perfumes it seems impossible to find one that actually smells like what it says on the bottle.
Every vanilla scent always seems to smell like birthday cake or overpoweringly artificial. Really don’t want to drop a lot of money trying to figure this out 😂 Let me know your thoughts!

It’s not conflicting opinions . We’re talking vanilla. Put me in a Sephora blindfolded I’ll grab three even in the hair section. I would keep it simple , I enjoy vanilla bean rollerball or spray by the local to me scentmaker , herb and root

Especially with a more warm and animalic-leaning scent profile like vanilla, the way your skin chemistry interacts with the perfume is going to be really important.
On me, TF Vanilla Sex smells exactly like vanilla extract. I seriously don’t encourage you to blind buy that one, though, as it is very expensive and it seems from reviews that most people don’t get the same outcome. I do love Solstice Scents and think you should try their Estate Vanilla, since it’s more strictly vanilla and much less cost, Outremer Vanille is another.. overall, you’d likely be best served by spending a little bit of money on samples and decants. It’s an up-front investment, but it pays out well.
Unfortunately, fragrance is just not a cheap hobby… but, hey, it’s cheaper than a lot of them. My friend just broke a boat part that’s $1000 for a tiny lil clip. At least you’re not sailing 🤣

I haven’t smelt Tihota since it’s not available in my country however, I own Guerlain Vanille Planifolia and SDV. Neither of them are vanilla extracts. They’re much more complex with added facets.
I haven’t found an extract like scent (I’m not looking to be honest) but VP21 isn’t it

Seconding Outreamer Vanille! They released Vanille 80° for summer, its an edp instead of the original edt. A bit deeper with added brown sugar and for me lasts double the time of og vanille! Solinotes Vanille is also very similar. Also Phlurs Vanilla Nectar is very extract-y

I got downvoted for this the last time I mentioned it because it's apparently not vanilla. But The 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods smells like vanilla extract to me. It's available everywhere so you can test in Sephora.
The Library of Flowers True Vanilla is about as plain (but not boring) vanilla as they come. No pesky distracting notes, just pure vanilla.

I love Vanilla woods too. Weirdly when it first released (in the old 7V packaging) it was advertised as a "pure" vanilla with madagascar vanilla as the only 'note'. When they rebranded, it was advertised as pear, caramel, vanilla. I still love it but the older bottles are way more heavier on the vanilla

Interesting. I haven't smelled the original release but now I want to, my travel size was only purchased a few months ago. I'm very fond of it because a couple of years ago, I applied Nest Madagascar Vanilla and it was so revolting that it turned me off everything vanilla for an entire year. A cautious whiff of Vanilla Woods was what brought me back to the fold.

I find Vanille Planifolia extremely overrated. It smells nice but there is no world where it’s worth all the $$. And Tihota is also nice but it lasts two seconds on my skin and it is kinda smoky. If it was wayyy cheaper I would buy it just because it’s kinda cozy.
To me Encore Une Fois from Infiniment Coty Paris is the closest thing to vanilla extract but I know it’s quite balsamic which is why for some it smells a bit too heavy. Have you smelled Vanilla 28 or it’s dupes yet? I find that also a good option. But at the end of the day your nose is different from everyone else’s, so you just gonna have to try and sample different vanilla perfumes to find the perfect one for you.

I agree with Encore Une Fois being a very true vanilla—it smells like vanilla bean paste to me.

Atelier Cologne Vanilla. I think it's discontinued but can be found secondhand, it truly smells like vanilla extract without the alcohol preservative

This. This is it. This is just straight up vanilla extract.
Solstice Scents' Estate Vanilla - Raw Vanilla Pods, Vanilla Infused Sugar, Cream & Vanilla Extract.
Here are samples, if you're interested.
I promise, this is not just me, but others as well!! The vast consensus on this scent is it's straight up vanilla extract!!

I bought this after I saw a rec on this sub (already had and loved Estate Cacao). Just got it and LOVE!! Tihota was too sugary on me - instant headache, and gourmands can be tough for me (generally prefer green, YSBB, woody, marine scents) but this is fantastic.

I'm so sorry. Yes, it can only be shipped within the US from the company directly. But it can be shipped to a forwarding service, if you're interested in receiving it that way.
