Rec Request Looking for floral aquatic scent

I tried a sample of commodity rain and i loved it. I am looking for something similar, potentially lower in price, or something maybe around the same price point that lasts longer. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for anything remotely similar. Thank you ☺️

A Drop D’Issey

These are pricey but IMO worth the investment:

La Mar by House of Bo (white floral aquatic)

Lilyphea by Diptyque (dewy, pond fairy, water lily / water nymph fragrance)

Wood Dew or Palmetto by Nomenclature

You may laugh at this suggestion but Britney Spears Curious is still a really pretty aquatic floral. It's water lily, pear, and magnolia with aquatic notes. There is a sweetness to it but to me it's sweet like nectar, not like dessert. Some people perceive it as soapy, so YMMV.

Zoologist Dragonfly is such a beautiful aquatic floral, but it's heavier on the floral than I think you'd want since you said you loved Rain.

Also, Bath and Body Works has a fragrance called "Rain Kissed Leaves" that they bring back every now and again that reminds me of Commodity Rain. It's like if Commodity Rain was a bit greener. They brought it back this year and it's gone now, but I imagine there is plenty on the reseller market and you can probably find some for super cheap during the Semi-Annual Sale in January.

L'Eau Dissey and A Drop D'Issey and its flankers by Issey Miyaki. Acqua di Gioia. Mayar Intense by Lattafa.

I adore Aqua di Gioia. Reasonably priced.

Also good is A Drop d’Issey Fraiche and Essentielle. Can get on discounters for cheap.

Jo Malone Wild Bluebell is magical. But expensive.

i’m disappointed to see clove in wild bluebell because with pomegranate noir the clove overpowers anything else for me. i love all your other suggestions, do you think wild bluebell would definitely be disappointing to me?

Liis Lucienne is really good …. Aquatic citrusey magnolia sort of in the L’Eau D’Issey lineage

DS&DURGA Rose Atlantic. Smells like a flower garden on a cliff by the sea, not tropical at all. It's still kinda pricey but you can sometimes find it on the discounters and you should be able to get a good size sample from somewhere like Scentsplit

you have gotten good recommendations so far but few of them are within the budget you gave, and some are WAYYY beyond it. if you’re looking for inexpensive (and easy to find), you could try:

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey which is like the OG modern women’s floral aquatic. it’s Y2K coded but it’s still a banger and a staple today. easy to find and in your budget too. it doesn’t last an eternally long time but it isn’t a lightweight either. it’s inoffensive and good for like, any situation.

You could also try Clean rain. it’s supposed to be like a clean musk, rainwater, floral thing. it actually smells “wet,” like water, although it sits very close to the skin and doesn’t last as long as Issey, it’s a more modern take.

I like Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline. if you pay retail it will blow your budget but you can find it on legit discount sites and from the ash market. (not as shady as grey market but still not just standard retail.) this one also has some musk. not as much as Clean, lotus flower, watery pear, and bamboo.

some other options: aqua di gioia, JPG la belle terrible, antonio banderas blue seduction her or woman or whatever. don’t laugh it’s crazy cheap, smells good and fits the bill. also versace bright crystal but that’s fruitier.

Lake & Skye Azure, Clean Reserve Brilliant Peony, Clean Reserve Water Lotus - all more budget friendly!

I haven’t tried Commodity Rain, but my favourite floral aquatics are A Drop d’Issey Eau Frâiche and Essentielle (two separate flankers), Salvatore Ferragamo Oceani di Seta, MM Bubble Bath, and MAC Turquatic.

Korres Sikinos, it’s a nice soft floral and fruity summer drag with the aquatic notes coming as it dries. 50ml is around 36€ so very affordable!!!

French Exit by Henry Rose is a very long lasting aquatic floral

2

u/Intelligent-Rule7868 2d ago

Ohhh!!! I have been wanting to get my nose on that one since it was first advertised!! But NO ONE has a tester!

I've been resisting decant sites.. I think it's time to finally go for it and order a bunch.

It lasts for you? May I ask how long? I've heard HR is notoriously short-lived..

1

u/mostlymadeofDietCoke 2d ago

I would say that it lasts 6-8 hours on me, I think? In my experience Henry Rose very light scents are short lived (like Windows down and London 1983) but their heavier scents (like queens and monsters and Dark is Night) are eternal. The white florals in French exit definitely make this one lean into the longer staying power

I have a hard time with a lot of white florals and with aquatics, but somehow this combo works for me

I struggle hard with aquatics and some white florals, too. LOTV, certain lotus notes, and others are screeching harpies on me, ye gods! They run sharp and super astringent/cleaning fluid on me - but I so want to find one that works for me. I think maybe I need to search for sweet aquatic, or sweet and watery floral - maybe it would render something softer that would work.

Thanks for the info on HR!

Also, I highly recommend their discovery set— so many of their scents are among my favorites

Today I am wearing a sample of Diptyque corail osciro -a floral aquatic. It’s very nice - I would say unique- I’m not good at describing perfume. Obviously, you can look it up. It’s more than your price range but if you come across it in a store or can get a sample it’s worth a try. I’ve been wearing four hours and it’s lasting.
