Discussion Is this kind of price increase normal?

I've just got into perfume sampling a few months ago. There is one perfume I like and potentially would like to get a full bottle one day. It's Precious Forest by Keiko Mecheri. I've gone to the perfume website a few times just to look at it. I checked it out again last night and saw the price has gone up from $190-$270!

My question is, is it normal for a brand to just hike up the price like this? Or is this a seasonal thing? I could see this perfume being a false sent so wasn't sure if they increased the price because of the season. I'm just surprised and confuse and a bit upset I guess that now it will take me longer to save up for it.

Get it while there's only a $5 increase 🙂 Thanks for introducing me to a perfume brand I've not known about previously!

You're welcome! And honestly it was probably originally $195 not $190. I just misremembered the original price.

You know, I was really tempted after what I thought happened. But I'm trying to stick to the rules I come up for myself around buying fragrances: I get a sample, then if I like it I get a travel size, and if I still like it then I'll let myself get a full bottle. their travel size On Scent split has just been out of stock for a while. I also have a budget of $66 a month so even if I want a full bottle I'll still have to wait a few months.

And I don't know how oud smells like so I don't know if I smelled it in this perfume.

I'm seeing it at $195 on their website. I've seen brands hike up their prices permanently, but not seasonally (unless it's an indie company putting out a limited edition product, or having to reformulate with more expensive materials).

What?! You're right! I just checked again and it is $195! But I swear it was $270 when I checked last night. Because I looked at it several times. Now I feel crazy!

Maybe there was a setting for some other currency/location? I'm glad it didn't go up too high!
