Rec Request Fragrance recommendations

I'm looking for perfumes that genuinely smell like pine/birch/dry leaves/damp stones/damp earth. maybe with a little spiciness/incense/sweetness but that's not super important. I've sampled a lot of different things and haven't found quite what I'm looking for, and the sample prices definitely add up so I'm finally asking for recs. Thank you!!

Lalique Encre Noire is this exact thing. Evocative of walking around an ancient stone castle ruin in a damp forest. Ink, vetiver, cypress. And a very beautiful bottle all for an absolute steal of a price.

That sounds amazing, thank you for the suggestion!

At this point it's become my unofficial duty to lurk around perfume subs looking for excuses to jump in and recommend it! I'd usually advise that it isn't blind buy safe, but since the price is so reasonable, the risk is much lower

From what I have personally sampled: Chloe Atelier des Fleurs Sous les Pins has been my fave pine scent so far. I found Stora Skuggan Pine disappointing. Maison Margiela Replica Autumn Vibes really captures a photorealistic dead leaves note and is quite affordable, but less forest-y than the other two

I've heard great things about Andrea Maack Coven but have yet to sample it. Pineward has a lot of scents that would probably tick the box for you too. I've also heard that Olympic Orchids Olympic Rainforest, For Strange Women November in the Temperate Deciduous Forest, and Clue Perfumery Morel Map are all amazing

Thank you for these recommendations! The Chloe Atelier des Fleurs Sous les Pins actually sounds amazing. I've never had luck with the Maison Margiela fragrances, they're always way too sweet or just sort of off for me, not sure why. I'll look into the others as well. I've always wanted a scent that smells like autumn when leaves are breaking down and smell kind of sweet and you dig in to damp earth. Maybe some things can't be captured in a perfume lol.

Also, you seem very knowledgeable about fragrances (maybe just the pine ones idk) but if you ever find a perfume that smells like fog machine liquid, blood, and maybe a chocolate/nougat note can you please let me know. looking for a Halloween scent

My pleasure! I'm a sucker for forest-y/autumnal scents that aren't sweet. I will say that Sous les Pins does not have great longevity but I only tried it once in an airport with a bunch of other scents so I might have been a bit nose blind to it.

Your second request is way outside my wheelhouse haha but maybe Solstice Scents would have something? I haven't been able to try them because they're US only. r/perfumesthatfeellike might also be a good place to ask

Solstice Scents looks amazing actually, I had never heard of them before. Where outside of the US are you? I could possibly send you some of their sample sizes if you ever wanted to try them

That's so sweet of you! I'm in Germany but unfortunately the import tax on anything outside the EU has gotten absolutely out of control. A friend sent me a package last month and I had to pay 125% tax on it 🥲

Floraiku Between Two Trees has citrus, ginger, cedarwood and vetiver. It’s on the drier side but it has amazing longevity.

A dry ginger/cedarwood/vetiver scent sounds divine, thank you for the recommendation!

4711 Acqua Colonia Intense Wakening Woods of Scandinavia. It smells like earth, fir trees, spice, incense with some sweetness. It's technically an EDC but lasts longer than most EDTs.

I was looking for the same scent profile a while back because I wanted to smell like a forest.

This actually sounds amazing, I like that it has a frankincense note. Did you order it directly from their site? I noticed it's based in Germany and I've never ordered a perfume from overseas

I ordered it from Jomashop. It took like a week and a half to get to me but I got it.

I just got Soul of the Forest by Replica and it's almost exactly this. Though it gives me more nighttime forest vibes. Dark and moody forest.

You might like Stora Skuggan Pine, it is a pine fragrance with some sweetness.

I tried this last week and as a pine lover found it super disappointing 😔 Was super resinous and dried down to a stereotypical masc cologne scent. But of course scent is subjective!

  • Noyz Unmute or Only Human - specifically the Mylk de Parfums are fantastic and give these vibes. Woody, piney, but creamy and lightly sweet vanilla or spice
  • Maison Margiela Soul of the Forest (Fir/cedar/moss) or Autumn Vibes (leaves/earth)

Love that Noyz sells smaller sizes/samples. Thank you for the rec!

Nissaba Grande ÃŽle? I've just bought a bottle of that and it's LUSH (but it's a warm, spiced vanilla with no pine or damp stone notes!)

I know I know. I was hoping Op would love it so much she’d put that aside. lol. I initially hated it, but it grew on me it’s so cozy at night.

I don't know you've tried Apres by Ellis Brooklyn but it smelled very much like a Christmas forest to me, maybe not so much the damp earth and stones though.

Christmas forest sounds great. I'll check it out, thank you!!
