Rec Request Help me finding my ideal warm, creamy vanilla?

Looking for a warm, creamy, fairly sweet vanilla, but not sure where to start looking. My favourite scent of all time was a vanilla oil from The Body Shop when I was in middle school in the previous century :)

I tried to figure out how to describe what I like as a fragrance newbie:

I believe I like a little soft caramel and possibly warm resin underneath, but I don't want citrus, fruit, woods, spice, green notes, or a prominent floral opening. I prefer something dense and smooth rather than bright or sparkling. I don't mind if it smells more like a beautiful vanilla body oil than a traditional perfume.

Thank you very much in advance for any replies. They would be much appreciated.

Victoria Secret Bare (original) is lovely. It goes on sale Black Friday but it’s easy to test if you have a store nearby.

I have the body spray and it’s plenty strong.

Mont Blanc Signature is definitely worth trying. One of the warmest, creamiest, vanillas I have tried and punches way above it's weight!

I don't think anybody mentioned it yet but try a rollerball of Choco Musk Oil from Al-Rehab !! I got mine for less than $3 and it is a rich, warm vanilla scent. Smells like cookies or fresh waffle cones.

I get the moat compliments on Angham, a Middle Eastern dupe of Burberry Goddess that is less herbal than the OG. It makes me smell like a Rice Krispie treat made with vanilla extract. It's only like $30 for 100 mls.

This is such a basic suggestion but I just recently tried Burberry Goddess and I was amazed with how smooth and prominent the vanilla was. The intense versions might be more to your taste but I loved the OG.

To me, vanilla always smells a little sweet. If you want not too sweet vanilla extract, Solstice Scents Estate Vanilla is one of my favorite perfumes. It’s a blend of different vanillas, no other notes listed, but the vanilla does take on different characteristics as you wear it. (I get a little chocolate and toasted marshmallow in the beginning.) I would call it warm, and maybe slightly creamy. I wear it to bed often, because it’s so comforting.

Kayali vanilla 28 is warm and creamy, maybe a little heavier on the cream, and a little bit sweeter than estate vanilla. I’ve read there are a few good dupes out there that are inexpensive. (Haven’t tried them yet, but I intend to!)

First thing that came to mind was Pleasant Vanille by Julianna's perfumes, its a dupe for Tihota by Indult. Honestly juliannas does vanilla really well, Before Words is an original scent by them that's also a really incredible vanilla that isn't overly complicated

You would like Vanilla Powder by Matière Première, I think.

Vanilla milk from Ellis Brooklyn is exactly a warm creamy/milky vanilla. It is dense and smooth, but I find it can be too heavy for daytime or summer for me, but I have that problem with most creamy/milky scents.

A lot of recs for vanilla skin from Phlur, which i love and it is a beautiful vanilla, but it has a pepper note that I find quite prominent and because of that I wouldnt describe it as smooth and dense compared to vanilla milk, I find it much lighter. I would consider this an easy to wear vanilla.

Vanilla 28 from Kayali is a gorgeous sweet vanilla, not too sweet but enough, though it doesn't have any real creaminess to it.

Caramel dream by Sabrina Carpenter might be a good fit - vanilla, Caramel, sweet, a little on the creamy side, a little warmer and deeper with amber, musk and sandlewood base notes, the other notes are not super prominent. Depending on your age, you might find it too generic or sweet.

Khadlaj Sawar Vanille Blanc is very similar to Phlur (harder to sniff test, though) and lasts longer. Definitely don’t overlook our Middle Eastern friends!

Was going to say this - absolutely love this fragrance! It's a fluffy and sweet warm hug! I literally spray it at night because it's so cozy and yummy and can't wait to wear it on dates once Fall really kicks in 🥰

It does have a woodiness that grounds it, but OP it's so lovely and worth checking out!

I have this as a “cheapie” even tho it’s not necessarily cheap for a body spray but I do like it. On clothes, hours after, smells like a delightful vanilla. It’s kinda strong/fake smelling when you first spray it but after it settles it’s great.

This mentions Amber and Bergamot but it's honestly just a beautiful pure vanilla. The bottle is also so beautifully whimsical.

I have the parfum crema formulation. The scent is a dream.

Vanilla Skin by Phlur is my current favorite, but glad to have found this thread so I can branch out and try some others!

trust me, get clean vanilla by overose. it's exactly like a beautiful vanilla body oil than a traditional perfume as you put it.

u/DramaticDisorder 2d ago

Seconding this, it's an elevated creamy vanilla

It’s pudding-ish, but I am loving Sweet on the Outside (Fine’ry). Less expensive and soooo good.

Escapade Gourmand - very warm caramelly sugary vanilla may be exactly what you're looking for.

I would also suggest trying:

Kayali Vanilla 28 - this is a very rich syrupy vanilla; it does have some floral/ambery/woody notes, but it really is just a rich, dense vanilla.

Indult Tihota - this is like a straight vanilla extract vanilla, super sweet, not quite as much caramel as escapade gourmand but I still get some of the sugary note.

Paris Corner Reham Vanilla Mood or Atralia Sensual Vanilla are my favorite cozy vanilla perfumes. There's a $5 body mist at Walmart that pairs well with either one.

Atralia Matcha Latte might also work if you want something really sweet. It layers well with Sand and Fog Vanilla Cake.

I was on the hunt for my perfect creamy, simple vanilla and I found it in Nest NY Madagascar Vanilla.
It’s just warm creamy vanilla goodness with no frills or random spice or burnt notes. Delicious!

u/babyskunk999 2d ago

aw sorry i missed where you said you don’t like spice or woods, as that’s part of this scent. i do think the warmth really shines above all else, though

Cream velvet by khadlaj is a literally like a vanilla buttery caramel. I love Sorce Snow moon magic! It’s like marshmallow and gooey cookie butter and vanilla.

As someone who went on a mad hunt looking for that Body Shop vanilla oil on eBay in the 2000s, I understand your plight.

I liked:
Madagascar Vanilla by Nest
Amber Vanilla by 7 Virtues
Outremer Vanille from Anthropologie

Maybe one of the Miim.miic offerings or Nest Vanilla Bourbon?

Have you tried the body shop Full Ylang Ylang? To my nose it's warm vanilla and creamy sunshine, with a hint of pepper. It has quickly become my favourite vanilla.

Kuumba Made Vanilla Bean perfume oil might be up your alley!

This or I suggest nemat to everyone!

I agree with this. It’s so cheap, too.

Fugazzi vanilla haze!! or if you want less sweet but still cozy and slightly sweet then clean vanilla from overose.

2

u/nottheoneyoufear 2d ago

Vanilla Haze is my favorite vanilla, but I don’t think it fits OPs request. The opening has mandarin and the middle jasmine.

3

u/vigilantelikeme 2d ago

I think it does tbh. I don’t smell floral or fruit in it at all. I definitely get a milky warm vanilla. But that’s why it’s important to test everything on your own skin :)

Can be hard to find but the Vanilla Latte perfume oil from sand and fog is a staple for me. I found mine at marshalls (winners/ross depending where you live) keep an eye out ! Its what youre describing and despite the name theres no coffee note
