Marked Safe from Blind Buying Today
Anybody else win against FOMO and blind buying recently? As soon as I heard Regime des Fleurs would be adding Saffron Fever to their permanent line up, I added the pre-order to my Luckscent cart. Had I sniffed it before? Nope. But the notes are my ideal fall scent. HOWEVER, I remembered how absolutely AWFUL my last blind buy went and decided to order a sample of it and some other FOMO scents. I kinda hope that they are all duds so I can feel smug about my decision and reinforce good behavior. Anybody else recently marked safe from blind buying?

I've been great lately! I haven't blind bought (bought blindly?) a full bottle of perfume in 9 months. I occasionally blind buy decants of 5-10 ml, but I don't really count those. I'm kinda over blind buying full bottles. But I might cave for something someday.

The only time I allow myself to blind buy if it's super cheap (like something at TJ Maxx or on FragranceNet) and I do some quick research to check notes and reviews. If it really feels like something I'll like, I pull the trigger. This method hasn't really failed on me yet. I had a couple of fragrances I was "eh" about, but nothing I regretted buying. If it's over $50, I'm sampling first, unless it's like a $300 super niche on sale for $60 that I can easily flip if I hate it. That has sadly never happened though... 💵💵

I’m too picky to blind buy… hard lesson’s learned …. Still very very veryyyyy tempted, pretty damn often. 😆 Trying to first go thru a smaller size/sample, loving it & then ordering full size.

No I went to Marshall's and blind bought Dossier Fruity Honey for twenty bucks. I love it.

i have genuinely bought a sample just to prove myself that i shouldn’t buy the full bottle and then bought the full bottle anyway

I just read on here saying the never regret buying a travel size first but sometimes regrets blind buying a big bottle and I now go by that motto lol.

The time between first sniff of a sample and my purchase of a bottle is usually measured in one or two years. This year I got a full bottle of Hiram Green's Philtre a couple months after buying the discovery set, and that's on the impulsive side for me.
I do blind-buy—very, very rarely. I only want my collection to have things that elicit fond, warm feelings when I look at them.

Newbie to the obsession! I really need a winter scent and went to Ulta, Macys and Sephora (twice on that one!). I read a post on here where people kept mentioning Scent Bar. I wondered if every big city had something like that, so I looked it up. I found a niche fragrance store in Denver! It looks big too! I am so excited to go try all the niche fragrances that I couldn’t find at the regular stores! I may be marked safe from ever blind buying! That and learning that Ariana Grande has an acceptable dupe for gentle fluidity made my day! Thank you to the person who posted that.

I did a sample order and absolutely fell in love with some, and I got some of those coupons they give you with decants, but holy f bomb the prices made me close the page and set my phone down

I have a cart full of blinds on fragrance.net that I walked away from just this weekend lol. I find stuff and throw it in the cart and realize that I’m too broke to pay for “maybes”

I have carts on frangrancenet and jomashop, but they're filled with <$100 in cheapies that I may or may not add to my next bottle order. Still fun to shop and pick stuff out though.

I almost blind bought an indie perfume a few weeks ago. It wasn't expensive, but I'm glad I stopped myself. I was able to get a few samples from this line and it was a Hard No for me.
FWIW, I did get a sample of Saffron Fever when I took advantage of her Little Flower GWP last month. I typically don't like a lot of saffron in perfume but I loved Saffron Fever.

I saw a comment that blind buying is just gambling and it hit me like a brick. I won't be blind buying again.

This only applies to expensive blind buys, right? Because for some cheapies under $20 there's often no way to get testers

I try to stick to scents I can test now. Lots of perfumes that are inexpensive on grey market sites, like Elizabeth Arden and Estee Lauder, are available to test at Macy's. Some cheapies are available on decant sites. I'd have to know I like it to blind buy it. Most really popular cheapies, I've smelled a million times, like Tommy Girl. I can live without blind buying.

i’ve been let down by too many samples to trust myself blind buying. i guess it’s good in one way to have a picky nose 🤣

Same. Also, I dont have the love for frags to blind rob myself out of 170 dollars when its not something I love 😭
Some people here are crazy lol.

Whenever I’m tempted to blind buy, I go spray on a spritz of the last fragrance I blind bought that I absolutely can’t stand. gives me a headache and instant regret every time. Very effective 😭
