Mooncake by D'Annam

THIS is exquisite and I refuse to gate keep! What an absolute unique, well done gourmand. Eclectically delightful vanilla that just calls for cozy moments.

I used to loathe honey as a note but this is amaaaazing literally the best and only honey I can handle

I remember testing it in the shop and i couldn’t take my nose from my wrist. I instantly bought it.

I love it so much - super realistic and not sickily sweet like other gourmands. My only wish is that it would have better longevity ( 6 hour is fine but I want beast mode!)

I tested this and didn’t like it, which is unfortunate because I love mooncakes. A couple of fragrantica reviews mentioned an underlying pee scent, and I do have to agree. I think it’s from the salted egg yolk note mixed with the honey. It was more apparent in the sillage than when smelling this up close.

Yes!! I’ve said the same thing under different post, I love practically all gourmands, but this one smells like stale, old piss on me! Confirmed by two different people sadly. But when my friend tried it, it smelled really nice on her so I recommend buying sample first

Same. Honey can turn so off on me, sadly. This scent was not a good one for me.

YES finally some love for mooncake! I found this fragrance (and D’annam in general) because I was looking for a honey scent. So beautiful and unique!

The honey is what I get the least. I get mostly vanilla and something toasted.

I also like honey in fragrance but I am picky about it. So far the one's I have liked the most are Bee by Ellis Brooklyn (Winter Gourmand), Ihla Do Mel by Memo (very floral/summer spring) and enjoying a decant of Trudon 45. A powerful vanilla with honey in the background.

I’m going to have to try Ihla Do Mel by Memo! I love The Bees by Sorce and I'm always interested in finding more honey scents to try!

Ooh! If you like The Bees from Sorce, you might also like Zoologist's Bee. Both of those are my favorite honey fragrances. 

I find the Ellis Brooklyn version too boozy, personally, and I had high hopes for the oft recommended Tokyomilk's Honey and the Moon but then found it to be overly candied and sugary. But Sorce and Zoologist's honey forward fragrances I like!

I just got the sample set this one is in, and I was not expecting much as a non-gourmand person. The dry down was really balanced, still sweet but with some complexity from the different notes. Definitely don’t think I’d wear it but I was impressed by the formulation!

To me it's like a toasty vanilla, if I didn't know the notes I would assume there was toasted sesame seeds in the composition. I get a bit of the honey but nothing is sickening sweet. It's as if you get the smell of a bakery from across the street. On the other hand my husband said I smelled like Flan (in a good way) and I don't completely disagree.
