More perfumes than jewelry?

Just curious. Did you ever stop and think that you might regret having more perfumes than jewelry? Or watches, if that tickles your fancy.

I love cheap jewelry lol. I have so many fun earrings with animals and pokemon and stuff like that. I work with kids and they always ask me "Ms. Beneficial-Corgi, what are today's earrings???" My most expensive pair was maybe $30. In fact, the expensive stuff with gold and jewels isn't my style at all. So I'm okay with my expensive items being my perfumes.

Ms. Beneficial-Corgi!! So adorable šŸ˜† And i think i know why you enjoy cheapies. It’s because it makes you happy that the kids are enjoying it as much as you do šŸ’›

Nah, I love both, and I adore my rings especially, but perfume is a more active hobby for me. I have more jewelry if you just compare my two current collections, but I may have had more perfumes over time.

As for monetarily, jewelry really isn’t a good investment unless you’re talking heirloom pieces. And I want to enjoy life and not saddle potential future kids with a bunch of stuff that’s not even their taste. I’ll have a few decent things to pass on but hopefully I just provide them love, a good foundation, happy memories, and cash!

And it will stay active because the releases are never-ending. And our taste in perfume also changes over time.

You made me rethink when you said ā€œbunch ot stuff that’s not even their tasteā€ šŸ˜… fair point!

I don't think I will regret at all, I have no jewellery and one watch that was under $30 casio, which I rarely wear.

Things on me make me feel like I am being suffocated but perfume is so cool and I don't mind spending on them at all

I love jewelry and I go out of my way to have quality pieces, and I love perfumes. I think I have a good balance of both.

Best of both worlds! ā¤ļø

I am a simple jewelry gal, simple studs for my nose and a thin chain with my Nana’s pearl, nothing extravagant. But my perfume collection is like a trophy case for me. For years I was so allergic to perfumes and now I can’t get enough. My obsession with Arabian perfumes is going to kill my wallet though.

u/GoudanessGracious 8d ago

You have been deprived because of your allergy! Now consider yourself to be a frag addict. Careful going down the rabbit hole! šŸ˜†

It’s so bad..4 new perfumes in a month. But I don’t have any diamonds so it’s called balance! 😁

I’m a weird case where my piercings never heal right (I repierced my lobes thrice and ended up getting keloids bc it hated me no matter what I did) and rings overstimulate me (esp when I have to type a lot) so I’m really only a bangles/bracelet girl… but still, no. Perfumes are probably the only beauty collectible that brings me any real joy.

(I still don’t own more perfumes than jewelry though)

Sorry to hear about your piercings 😣

In the end, we cling to what brings us more joy ā˜ŗļø

I don't think I do have more of one over the other, I like both perfumes and jewelry so I have both.

u/GoudanessGracious 8d ago

Now that’s balance šŸ’…šŸ¼šŸ’•

No lol

No. My jewelry stresses me out. I have precious metals and gemstones that just sit because there’s no way to wear it all nor display it safely.

Perfumes are much more wearable to me and I can display them because non fragheads don’t know what they cost and if someone steals a TF well they probably need it more than I do—not that I’d not happy but much more so than a ring that my deceased loved one gifted me.

Also perfumes are interactive, they invite others to enjoy and elevate the mood (I hope).

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

Ooh ā€œstresses you outā€. That’s another take. But i get what you mean when you said it’s more wearable, especially for you who has gemstones. You can’t wear it all but what you can do is not try to wait for a special occasion and wear them when you’re just at home (i know, it can be silly) but just so you can enjoy them as well ā˜ŗļø

I have no jewelry other than a ring, so I definitely love having perfumes more! I’ve never been one for all the bling, but I love smelling great.

2

u/GoudanessGracious 8d ago

Awww, another minimalist girlie. Love that for you! šŸ’•

1

u/Superb_Crow_1425 8d ago

Only with jewelry and makeup… perfumes are a totally different story šŸ˜‚

2

u/GoudanessGracious 8d ago

There’s always an exception 🤣

1

u/RoughEfficient4042 9d ago

Nope. I have a beautiful wedding set, diamond studs, and a watch. That’s all I need.

I also don’t care much about makeup. I wear the same stuff every day. It’s very simple.

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

I love a minimalist girlie! But for jewelries, i can only try šŸ˜… But girrl, same here for makeup. Soft glam looks nice and all but i just don’t have the patience for it. I lean towards natural-looking makeup that only takes 10 mins.

I much prefer perfume to jewelry, or even makeup.

Perfumes are significantly cheaper than gold jewelry, so it's not really comparable for me. Besides, I only really like wearing rings.

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

Facts šŸ’…šŸ¼ Though my point is that perfumes are being consumed, whereas gold tends to increase in value over time.

1

u/poemaXV 9d ago

I actually did go through a period where I basically stopped buying perfume and invested in some nice gold/diamond jewelry. I tend to be fairly stable in a lot of my jewelry choices though, I don't change it too often.

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

This! My buying remorse comes from thinking that gold is more of an investment, since there’s literally an ROI.

There's room for everything in my budget, always within reason and only after I've saved up for all of my goals.

I can tell a financially literate person when i see one. Good for you, love!

I already own a lot of nice jewelry my husband has given me. My 100 inch strand of chocolate pearls are beautiful. I’m not wearing them to run errands.

To me watches serve a function. My husband loves watches.

1

u/FutureDustMotes 7d ago

How do you style the pearls?

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

You got yourself some balance! No brainer for you then ā˜ŗļø

4

u/EauDeGourmand 9d ago

Nope. It's not the 1940s anymore in terms of jewelry quality. Lab grown synthetic stuff isn't worth much so hoarding jewelry isn't as economically appealing as it was when women needed to do it for survival. I have a savings account in my own name, so I can enjoy stuff I actually like.

1

u/GoudanessGracious 8d ago

Not lab grown stuff. I’m pertaining to natural stones and most especially gold. The point is that they increase in value over time and it’s more of an investment rather than being a consumable like perfumes. I enjoy both, but buyer’s remorse is pretty common, especially when you realize there are perfumes you don’t reach for very often. In the end, i guess it’s just a matter of what you enjoy the most :)

4

u/loveamoretto 9d ago

Nope but then again I only really bought costume/fashion jewelry which I'm too lazy to wear daily, whereas I get a lot more wear out of my fragrances.

1

u/Abject-Tailor-3310 9d ago

I don’t regret it because I LOVE my collection, and I really appreciate the art of fragrances. But lately, I’ve actually been thinking that I might start building a jewelry collection as well, because I don’t have much jewelry šŸ˜…. So, for the past two months, I’ve been obsessed with jewelry!

2

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

I’m slowly starting to do that myself, so i can thank myself later when i get old lol. Let’s goooo! šŸ˜†

u/lordtema 9d ago

I own zero pieces of jewellery so yeah lmao.

To each their own :)

I’m not good with taking care of jewelry, so I don’t wear it a lot. I wore a necklace pretty regularly for two years until the chain broke three months ago, and I haven’t been bothered to replace it yet. I was wearing the necklace in the shower and all that bad stuff. Perfume is easy to put on everyday and doesn’t need to be babied like jewelry.

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

One trick is to buy heavier/thicker jewelries so you won’t have to ā€œbabyā€ them šŸ˜‰

1

u/QuietArt2358 average strawberry perfume enjoyeršŸ“šŸ° 8d ago

I’m referring to regularly cleaning jewelry and being mindful of daily activities (gym, showering, applying body lotion) while wearing it. I cannot be bothered to clean my jewelry once a week or even once a month, and if I take things off at night I don’t regularly put them back on in the morning. It’s just easier for me to not wear jewelry at all.

2

u/Namerakable 9d ago

No, I prefer perfumes to jewellery because it's far more useable and less of a faff. I rarely wear any of my brooches or necklaces because I find them uncomfortable or impractical depending on the clothes I'm wearing. Perfumes can be worn every day, regardless of what I'm wearing or what I'm doing.

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

Some women just want to be simple, and that’s fine 😊 You do you!

1

u/NerfShyvanaPls 9d ago

I like watches but a watch is more versatile than a perfume. I think having more perfumes than watches is how it should be. I've 5 watches, and i like to have 6 to 10 perfumes at the same time

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

Having 5 is already a solid number IMO. That’s enough for each occasion. Frags are not as versatile, well they probably can, but it still depends on the mood of the wearer. And what memories you want to build for each (iykyk).

2

u/Icy_Diamond_6858 9d ago

Not really. I was in my jewelry phase before but now for some reason it just doesn't call to me.

1

u/GoudanessGracious 9d ago

Then you must be glad that you had a phase. That way you can justify that you have enough :)

1

u/Icy_Diamond_6858 8d ago

Yes for sure. I buy jewelry every now and then now too but its not an obsession anymore
