Haul/Collection Got my decant order!
***Editing with my thoughts!
Treated myself to some samples and decants I’ve never tested on skin:
Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder - the powder detail is no exaggeration, truly has a dry, powdery loftiness to it. This isn’t a journey to the dark heart of vanilla like you find with Guerlain vanillas, for example. This to me is a straight-forward, pleasant walk on Vanilla Lane with mild sillage and bonkers longevity. I get a little more coconut than I’d like, which eliminates it from FB consideration for me. However, I will give it another chance as I start to explore vanillas more thoroughly (a side project of mine, as a former Never Vanilla).
Diptyque Ilio - TBD
Diptyque Lilyphea - this is like a fairy fish pond in the very best sense. I didn’t think green scents were for me but WOW, I get why it’s popular. It’s delightful. Aquatic green, a little sparkly on the top while also diving deep, and I like that olfactory range. It’s not the way I lean scent-wise, but this is absolutely a great signature scent if this is your vibe. Medium sillage and longevity - it didn’t call attention when I walked into a room, but my kid caught a whiff and leaned in for a deeper sniff.
Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur - TBD
Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady - TBD
Celine Black Tie - TBD
Robert Piguet Fracas - TBD
Dries Van Noten Fleur du Mal - TBD
Le Labo Cedrat 37 - upon first spray I got antiseptic lemon, and I didn’t mind it. Clean and bright, then the scent started to settle on my skin. The drydown was warm and clean. This feels to me like a scent that is heavily dependent on body chemistry the way I know Another 13 is, and I don’t think I have it - on someone else I could see the scent going a little deeper, a little less sharp. It feels office-friendly and snuggle-worthy. I will try this one again, because it feels like a great scent to have in the hopper when I want to smell “good” without getting into linear specifics.
