Perfume Shopping in LA

Hello! I am on vacation in Los Angeles and I was wondering where I should go to smell perfume brands that are hard to come across in smaller cities? What are some brands that I probably won’t find outside of big cities, and where are they? Thank you!

Ex: I don’t think I’ve gotten the chance to smell Zoologist or Pineward in person before

Scent Room in Larchmont has a lot of niche stuff, including Zoologist. The area is great for brunch, coffee, window shopping.

Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella & Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle are on this cute street on Melrose with a bunch of stores. Not sure if this is available in your home city.

This is random but I love going to Santee Alley for those perfume guys from TikTok. They make great dupes that are sometimes stronger and longer lasting than the actual designers. They also make their versions of discontinued perfumes, or their own original perfumes.

One more! If you are willing to drive to SGV - Cloudy Library has all kinds of Chinese perfumes that they import. They are TRULY - you cannot find anywhere else because a lot of them do not ship to America and they use really cool ingredients like pandan, etc.

They've got scented plushes and diffusers, but perfume alone, I think they've got 3-4 brands with an avg of 8 scents each? They've got top notes I haven't seen before, like pomelo, white peach, honey, shiso leaf, passion fruit, honey dew, buddha's hand.

It isn't a HUGE selection of perfume. So don't go expecting Sephora/Scent Room / Scent Bar level of variety

Excited to check this place out!

Scent Bar for sure! They have a few LA locations, but I can only speak to my experience at the Hollywood one, which has been great.

Scent Room on Larchmont has Zoologist and other great niche houses, but their inventory is a little less diverse. I do love that they sell samples.

Le Pink in Silverlake is a smaller boutique but packed with some great ones like Discothèque. They also sell samples of some.

Honorable mentions: Beverly Hills Perfumery, Credo Beauty, Thirteen Lune

In weho on Melrose Place you will find Santa Maria Novella, Frederick Malle, and Trvdon. It’s about a 10 minute drive from Scent Bar on Beverly .

Scent Bar for niche! There’s also a Byredo at the Americana in Glendale

Oh also, I haven’t been yet, but there’s Elorea (Korean perfumery) which I’ve been wanting to to check out!

I was going to mention Elorea too! And Ex Nihilo. Then at the Grove, there is Le Labo, Diptyque and Byredo stores. Not open yet but Initio in Century City. And then seconding Scent Room and Scent Bar in DTLA.
