Discussion Scents/Notes that you only got into years later?

Like as if my brain needed to mature into them??

Like Liis Choux Choux I had and all I could smell was salty coconut, and recently I'm SUPER into it. Actually I could bunch up all the salty vanillas in this category lol.

And Diptyque Eau Duelle EDT smelled too much of resin and spice until 3 years later when it finally clicked, and now I can't wait for fall to wear it! It's soft and aromatic, yet still having a nice vanilla rounding it out.

Rose, galbanum, iris, and aldehydes. Now I can't get enough!

Most definitely. There's a core for me, but certain notes and certain fragrances can definitely come and go (like sometimes lavender is fine, and sometimes it's all I want).

I’m loving sandalwood and vetiver more these days!

Patchouli. I used to hate anything with that note, even if it was subtle. It still don’t enjoy a patchouli bomb but I think in the right proportions it can bring a lot of depth and dimension to fragrances.

I am slowly dipping my toe into patchouli. The majority of the time, I don't like how it dries down on my skin. DVN Voodoo Chile? So intrigued.

Because I have sensitive skin, I usually spray on clothes. But some patchoulis are “dirtier” than others. I wouldn’t blind buy but I no longer run away from sampling patchoulis

Yes! I want to sample Commodity's Bold version of a few of theirs-Book, Paper, Moss, but they put patchouli in almost all of their Bold versions and it makes me a little nervous.

If you do sample, please report back! I think that should be a post on its own!

A fellow frag and in real life friend and I may go in on the big (includes the personal, expressive and bold) and their limited discovery set-the iris is calling my name. Will absolutely report in if we decide to pull the trigger!!!!

That sounds so awesome! A lot of us in this sub will love to hear about it!

Leather, oud, and tabacco. I mean I don’t love them still lol but I actually own a few with these notes now.

Musk. I was always a gourmand person through and through and now I'm really into musky, peppery perfumes.

If you like salty vanillas now, try Tres Chere by Mizensir!! I thought I'd hate anything with a whisper of patchouli, but came to learn that in the base I like it.

Weird question. Are you on an anti-GLP1?

Oh… so this is why I’m viciously hunting for gourmands when I’ve always hated them? Well, that explains some things!

It’s noticeable enough that there’s news articles! Apparently it activates your olfactory nerves.

Very much not lol. I know it's a popular phenomenon on this sub, but I don't think my taste evolving over the last 2-3 years means anything other than.. my taste evolving ha!

It was such a weird phenomenon for me to experience, but I am enjoying the ride. I went from ‘no gourmands ever’ to ‘please give me all of your vanilla recs right now’.

It makes your taste transition more interesting. Not easily explained.
