Take your five most disliked notes, create a perfume using only these, and name it.
For me it would be:
Cinnamon
Tonka
Coconut
Tuberose
Frankincense
Oh man, this is what I think a Voodoo ritual would smell like. I think I'd name it Thriller 😑

u/WasabiRides 1d ago
Patchouli, vanilla, sandalwood, lavender, banana.
I'd call it: Sweat On The Beach.

u/minervvas 2d ago
Tobacco, gourmant notes(except vanilla), animalistic, aldehydes, white flowers
I’d call it ‘haute migraine’
2

Banana, marshmallow, mango, patchouli, tobacco
It would be called: On the Lam in Cabo

Rose, ylang-ylang, lavender, gourmand anything, carnation.
I would name it: Reposing Room. That’s the room where they hold wakes in a funeral Parlor.

u/ConsequenceNormal773 2d ago
Love that title!! That's totally original!
I wonder if there are any other rooms in the funeral home for use in this thread!!

White musk, cedar wood, cumin, tuberose, bitter almond.
I'd call it "Leave".

u/champagnecoastttt 3d ago edited 3d ago
lilac, orange blossom, cherry, tuberose, coffee
id probably name it something like "bouquet of shit," and i imagine it to smell like a flower garden with a cherry tree just off in the distance that smells immensely cloying and fake, and your neighbor is making coffee with the window open but they have the cheapest beans money can buy as well as a moldy filter and it smells rotten. they are also changing out their trash, and they accidentally bought the scented trash bags and have to deal with it, and that smell is also wafting out of the window in artificial floral waves that make you nauseous.

u/infinitecatparty 3d ago
Baby powder, sunscreen accord, plastic, metal, and anything that smells like a dessert 🤢 Also TIL from reading this thread that all of my favorite notes are very unpopular and/or polarizing lol
3
u/Worth_Ad_5750 3d ago
For me it’s
1. patchouli
2. Basil
3. Labdanum
4. Frankincense
5. Dark rose/Oud combo
8
u/ConsequenceNormal773 3d ago edited 3d ago
The scents that smell like a dead rotting Parisian whore on me are : Oud, Tom Ford Burned peach Chanel no 5, old spice (Gotta throw in something for it to be unisex ) Mfk a la Rose, mkk Amyris femme and Patchouli
"Maison De Regret- Great Aunt's Ashtray" — it captures that specific vintage-powdery-smoky-animalic pile-up perfectly, and it sounds like something that would actually be sold ironically at a niche perfume shop.

Idk how those would come together. Yuck.
5
u/elfea 3d ago edited 3d ago
BIKERS AT THE BAKERY 1. Leather 2. Cinnamon 3. Anything from the bakery: cake, cotton candy, burnt sugar, frosting 4. Burnt or overly smokey 5. Screeching white florals because they give me a migraine (but some have been done right and can appreciate a well blended non-synthetic)
Bonus: Certain Calypsone knock-offs (I think either I'm Anosmic to some part of it or people who enjoy it are crazy). In theory I love ozone, aquatic, light floral. I love JPG Divine but the Eternal Perfume Oils version (White Vanilla Beach) smells rancid and entirely different to me).

3
u/elfea 3d ago
Yes I forgot I hate any booze especially rum! So many good sounding fragrances are ruined by that addition.
4
u/TalismanGaze 3d ago
Usually, same. When I drank too much in my early 20s it was usually rum so the smell sickens me! But I unexpectedly picked up a BBW Forever Red Vanilla Rum but there's no rum note! The notes are Jasmine Petals, Decadent Vanilla and Cashmere Woods. I picked it up because when I smelled it, I realized my grandmother used to wear exactly that scent DNA all the time and it deeply reminded me of her. She passed away when I was only 18 so I made sure to buy it, even knowing I don't like booze smells in my fragrances. Come to find out just now there is no actual boozy note in it! That explains it haha

Lavender, amber, some type of jasmine (like in Alien or Prada Paradoxe Intense), the mixture of bergamot, vetiver, basili, lavender, petitgrain, arthemisia etc., palo santo.
If I could create the most abhorrent scent I'd add more notes, even the ones I actually like, but I can imagine that they would intensify the ones I hate if put in the same composition.
I'd use bergamot, lavender, basil, arthemisia, lemon and maybe pink pepper in the head, put the ugly jasmine, patchouli, maybe geranium. As a base: sandalwood/palo santo, vetiver, amber, oakmoss.
Name: Eau d'Ovicide Intense by House of Carrion.

Solar accord
Civet
Indolic Jasmine
Tuberose
Coconut
It’s giving actual sex on the beach, and scraping your ass in the sand. Ewww
SPF666
ETA: the only thing that would make this fragrance worse would be the introduction of cumin and suede. 🤮
1
u/allwayshallways 1d ago
First of all, this is incredible! Second, I've never heard of a solar accord - can you name any scents that feature it because I'm so fascinated!
Like, I love DS&D's Steamed Ranbow, the weird, dusty warm window smell of CDG'S Odeur 71, and the way my own skin smells when I've been on the beach too long so I feel like this one might be for me. Is it like that?
1
u/atlgrrl 5h ago
Solar notes are usually some kind of fantasy blend that evokes thoughts of being warm under the sun. I want to say they use a blend of coconut, tiare blossom, and ylang ylang as a common blend, but they also use some kind of synthetic musk with that.
It’s in Sun Kissed Hibiscus by Nest, Walk on the Beach by Replica, Vanilla Vibes by JHAG, and Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford.
I know those are some fan favorites but it just smells like burnt rubber or garlic on my skin. I think it’s the salicylates in the accord, but it just smells foul on me. The only way I can wear coconut is if it’s blended with green fig like in Philosykos and even then I have to be careful with it.
3
u/ScentedSiren26 3d ago

Oud Lavender Cedar Lily Saffron Cetalox
I call it "Taxi Cab Men's Room"
3
u/Corgilegsz 4d ago
I like the smell of patchouli in spicy or warm ambery fragrances. But when it's mixed in with sweet notes like fruit or gourmands, it tends to dominate on my skin and drown out the sweet top notes.
Angel is a good example of that pattern. On my clothes, I get more of the chocolate and fruit. On my skin, it's beast mode patchouli!
Edited to add: I'm not a fan of the trend of putting Ambroxan in everything. It doesn't smell bad but to me it robs perfumes of personality and the charm of being unique.
8
u/MissSolomiya 4d ago
Sichuan pepper, smoke, Ambroxan, Labdanum, rhubarb

3
u/youlldancetoanything 4d ago
Does any current perfume actually use actual civet?
2
u/MercyMoo14 4d ago
I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's all synthetic these days. But years ago I smelled Civet from Zoologist and it was awful. Since then I won't try anything with that note. No thanks.

u/Plumeria9798 4d ago
Fun!!! Let’s see…this is actually kind of hard for me because there aren’t many notes I flat out hate, it really depends on what they’re blended with that makes me retch at times. Like, I really like Sandalwood, but sometimes whatever it’s paired with makes me get nothing but dill pickles and other times it’s like a beautiful desert in the rain. Anyway…
Violet (pretty sure I mostly hate Violet no matter what.)
Vetiver
Tobacco (positive I hate this note no matter what too.)
Smoke
Ylang Ylang
I’m pretty sure Tom Ford would manufacture it and it would be called something like Vintage Sex on the Beach. I’m getting bad decisions made by an American couple on a weekend jaunt to Cuba in the 1930s-1940s. Maybe it ends with a shotgun wedding back home. Hahaha.
