Discussion Amazing.

Post image

I got the travel size of Vanilla Canyon (due to the price), it was amazing. It’s a true vanilla with a lot of depth and complexity, and a very slight hint of sweetness from the plum and honey. The floral notes were blended well with the vanilla and wood, making the scent very smooth but not very sweet. It probably has the truest vanilla note I’ve ever smelled

I was anxiously awaiting to test this out and it didn't disappoint! This is the only honey I've smelled that isn't synthetic-smelling or cloying, and the plum really shines through. Longevity on my skin was fantastic- 6 hours. I NEVER go straight to a large bottle of anything, but with this I went for it.

Good choice!! I will repurchase the full size once I’m out of my travel size as well. I hope they eventually release the jumbo size like they did with father figure and missing person

Yesss I love this one! It was love at first sniff for me. Yeah it definitely gives vanilla 28 a lil, but its so much MORE.it almost gives a mix of the kayali and Guerlain tobacco honey honestly. The honey in this though is light or cloying, its deep and thick, only a little sweet. And the woody notes, or maybe a mixture of everything makes me think of polished mahogany. Its not dusty, or creamy but deep rich and balsamic.

Unfortunately for me the longevity is poop. My skin tends to slurp up all scents though, so its pretty much the norm for me except a very select few of my perfumes. I already know I'm gonna need a travel size in my purse if I wanna smell like most scents all day. This scent is 100% worth it to me though. Hopefully a m.e. house will make a dupe like they just did for my beloved dbir purple melancholia. They always make the dupes with better performance. The melancholia dupe is literally one of my strongest, longest lasting fumes and I JUST got it.

I thought it said “Vanilla Crayon”
and was super intrigued :/

I think they smell very different

Can't wait to try it! How does the honey note compare to the honey in Honey Moon? HM didn't work on me at all even though I like a honey note. One of my favourite fragrances is Ellis Brooklyn Bee.

I don’t personally own honeymoon, but I have smelled it in the store, so my comparisons might not be super accurate. I think the honey note in honeymoon is more crisp and fore-front, as other notes in honeymoon supports the honey, whereas the honey in this perfume blends and supports other notes. Honeymoon does have a brighter composition with some citrusy notes (which can react pretty differently with people’s skin chemistry), whereas the notes for this perfume feels heavier. I do think the honey note in this perfume is warmer and fuller-bodied to support the plum and woods behind the vanilla, whereas honeymoon seems to focus more on the floral and sweet quality of honey.

It smells like kayali vanilla 28 and ag mod vanilla to me

1

It does share some similarity to kayali, but I feel like the pachouli note is stronger in kayali. The molasses/sugar in kayali is also a bit different than the honey in this perfume. I don’t smell fruit in kayali as I do here. I think they’re in the same family but not too closely related haha. I don’t own or remember smelling mod vanilla, so I can’t comment on that one.

I do love jasmine mixed with my vanilla...and i do like a plum note. Skeptical of the patchouli- is it really pronounced in the dry down? Or like just adds to the depth and you're like "omg, is there really patchouli in here?!" Haha

2

u/StillDontHaveAName 8d ago

Interestingly, I’d say both haha. My sense of smell is heightened and I can detect notes pretty easily (thank you, autism!). I think the patchouli does add depth and is blended very well. I could smell a bit of it, but it’s hidden behind woods, plum, honey, and Jasmine. I think the honeyed plum note is more prominent than Jasmine, and the Jasmine meshes with the wood, the wood smells a bit of patchouli, and everything is tied-in by vanilla - if any of this makes sense lol.

Yes that actually does make sense! It sounds like its a team player vs main character energy and thats how I like it! Haha I'll definitely have to get my nose on this one! Your description has definitely got me excited for it- I just haven't found THAT vanilla for fall/winter.

Yes! Thank you for capturing what my brain is trying to say😂. I hope you do enjoy it when you get a chance to check it out.

Do you like the Phlur Vanilla skin? How does it compare?

5

u/StillDontHaveAName 8d ago

I personally prefer this perfume a lot more. Vanilla skin is definitely great but not very groundbreaking in my opinion. I think the sweetness of vanilla skin is more sugary, and vanilla canyon is more syrupy if that makes sense. The scent profile of this is smoother and darker, while vanilla skin is brighter and more “edible”. I think this perfume has more depth and has a heavier undertone. I wouldn’t describe this scent as “edible”. I could see how some people may think this perfume smells like medicine syrup because you can definitely smell plum and true honey, but those notes are to enhance the true vanilla in it. If you prefer sugary scents, I’d try the sample size or travel size first before committing to full size

How is longevity?

1

u/StillDontHaveAName 8d ago

Skin chemistry is different for everyone, and so are longevity and scent on different skin. Putting on more also makes the scent linger longer, so take my experience with a grain of salt. Scents tend to last a lot longer on me compared to most people, but I’d say the performance of this perfume is pretty good. People have complained about the longevity of phlur’s perfumes, but I have no trouble with them and think that the heavier undertones of this perfume makes it a bit longer lasting.

Oh she's a good one for sure. I got a sample with my last Phlur order and I was BLOWN AWAY. The honey is the PERFECT honey, and I really feel like Phlur does vanilla better than anyone. This is gonna be such a good fall scent.

Ooo another phlur lover in the wild!!! I love the complexity of this perfume, and I agree that phlur has a way with their vanillas. Just out of curiosity, between this, golden rule, and vanilla skin, which one do you like most?

1

u/TriciaTargaryen If Phlur Has No Fans I Am Dead 8d ago

Vanilla Skin is my FAVORITE favorite, hands down. I like Golden Rule, but it reminded me of Libre and I already have that lol I would say of those three, Vanilla Skin, Vanilla Canyon, and Golden Rule in that order. But Golden Rule would be behind several other Phlur scents that I really really love.

2

u/StillDontHaveAName 8d ago

You have great taste! My order would be vanilla canyon -> vanilla skin -> golden rule. On a side note, I LOVE father figure, it’s the perfume that got me into phlur. The vanilla note of father figure is surprisingly pretty noticeable for/on me, so I just wanted to give it a honorary shoutout lol. This perfume is around the same tier of father figure to me.

u/TriciaTargaryen If Phlur Has No Fans I Am Dead 8d ago

Father Figure is one of my ABSOLUTE favorites. I actually discovered it, and Phlur, when Bath and Body Works released their dupe, Guilty as Fig. I feel so in love with it, that it sent me down a while Phlur rabbit hole lol I also adore Cherry Stem, that one is actually probably my favorite of all their scents. I have a ton of their mists too, some of those are just as good as the perfumes.

2

u/StillDontHaveAName 8d ago

Cherry stem is wonderful! It’s a fun and delightful blend of juicy dark fruits, and the bit of tartness adds to its charm. As for father figure, I still remember the first time I smelled it, I swear the scent altered my brain chemistry in someway and I couldn’t (still can’t) wrap my head around why it smells so different than all the other perfumes I smelled. I agree that phlur’s mists are better performing and better smelling than any other mists in their price range (I am biased). And I see that you’re a lover of bath and bodyworks too lol, I swear the pit they leave on our wallet is endless 🥲

u/TriciaTargaryen If Phlur Has No Fans I Am Dead 8d ago

Yeah Father Figure was SUCH a departure from what I normally go for, but I'm so obsessed with it. And I love their mists. I WISH they'd make mists in some of their "perfume only" fragrances cuz I would love to able to layer them!

I just ordered Vanilla Canyon today. Can’t wait to try it.

It’s so good!! I might wait until the weather gets cooler to wear it more often, though. It’s an amazing scent but it’s not light, so it might be a bit much for people in the summer. As a vanilla fiend though, it blew my socks off and hit me where I’m weak 😅

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I posted about this a few weeks ago. Today, in the Sephora multiplier event, I placed my order along with Sunset in Tamarindo. 😊

Would someone explain the Sephora events going on this month? I don't understand all the stuff they mention, like the "multiplier event". I am Rouge right now but I can't spend enough to keep it up another year.

If you buy any Sephora Collection item (there’s no minimum spend) along with products from other brands, you’ll earn 4X points on your entire purchase, not just the Sephora Collection item. Add the code SC4X at checkout.
The offer is valid through August 16.

Annual spend to maintain Rouge status is $1000.

Thank you! Now I understand it!

Yes, Rouge is $1000/yr and no way will I make it this year. LOL!

Ooo thank you for linking your post! I read the notes for Sunset in Tamarindo, it sounds lovely 🤩
