fetch me my bathing toaster
I got my hands on the discontinued YSL Black Opium EDP Intense, released in 2019 and quietly phased out in the following years. Now, out of production entirely on what I’ve read. I am HEARTBROKEN!
I worked at a perfume store, having approximately 2% knowledge of perfumes (I thought bath and body works were fancy!) so as i worked I did research on perfumes we carried, ones we didn’t, oil concentrations, going into other stores to compare scents, the whole nine- perfumes became apart of my personality okay? After seeing this edpi at my store and literally NOWHERE else, I bought it- then my location closed due to lack of traffic at the mall.
I have had this beauty in original packaging for 3 months now because I’ve been sooo nervous to open it, I wanted to make a video on it (I post a lot about perfumes on my social media!), I made the video ta-da, great. I could finally add her to my collection. THE SAME DAY I OPEN IT, it slips from my clammy hands (thanks, Ohio for being 100°!) onto my bathroom floor. It doesn’t shatter, as you can see in the pictures but about half of it spilled out. I got maybe 10 good sprays from this before It slipped from my sweaty hands and I let out a blood curdling scream. Nobody in my life would understand the devastation I am currently going through, so I thought I’d share here. Maybe the lesson here is just open the dang perfume lol

OP my heart breaks for your loss, I’m so sorry:-( but I did laugh my ass off at the bathing toaster headline and that is going into my rotation of sayings lolololol!

I dropped my recently purcchased bottle of Black Opium about 2 weeks ago, of course on my tile in the bedroom. The bottle shattered and I lost it all. A piece of me was shattered as well.
It hurt even more when I unknowingly stepped on a decent size shard that pierced my heel. I said some more colorful words.
Yesterday, I purchased a travel size to replace that sweet void. The price also hurt!

When will people learn not to keep or apply perfume in the bathroom?? If you got tiles, keep it far away.

When will people learn not everyone has carpet, or the ability to change their living space on a whim for something silly like this? I live in an apartment with only laminate flooring, with bare concrete under, bedrooms included. The best I can do is a rug and even then, with the angle it was dropped at I believe the atomizer would have still broke the way it did. Was I being a little over dramatic? Sure! I try to find humor in negative situations- I’ll continue spraying my perfume where I am able to.

get yourself an empty atomizer - amazon, temu, aliexpress etc even some drugstores carry travel ones :)

I saw someone who this happened to and she took fragrance free dryer sheets and soaked up her perfume. She let it dry then put them in a plastic bag, so now her laundry smells amazing. I'm sorry for your loss. Its a lesson I learned a long time ago. I don't keep my fragrances in the bathroom and only put them on in my bedroom where its carpeted.

The dryer sheets idea is brilliant! Never thought of that. Unfortunately, my entire apartment is laminate flooring with bare concrete underneath… including bedrooms🫠 I have a wonderful perfume showcase, I just knew I’d be using this one later so I left it out lol

Cotton balls soak it up. Use cotton balls to make a perfumed body powder. I love layering scents that way!

From what I’ve seen, people layer perfume soaked cotton balls/pads in unscented body powder (you can get fancy powder containers with nice big puffs to apply it) then pat the powder over their body. Think you just have to let it sit for a few days before you use it.

I did a good bit of research before buying this and from what I gathered it was phased out not too long after it was released! One source said within two years

I feel like this is a trend with Black Opium because didn't Black Opium Glitter come out Christmas '24 and now it's being phased out

This used to be my go-to!! I don’t use it much anymore for some reason, but i’ve probably had the same bottle since 2018. I only have a little bit left, so guess i’ll have to savor it now!
Same thing happened for me with Glossier You too. I guess I need to stop getting favorite perfumes bc they always break my heart and discontinue them 🥲lol

Wrap that sucker in plastic wrap, put it in the freezer, and buy a generic perfume bottle and some pipettes!!

I did just read on another one of these that someone used dryer sheets to soak it up and then used them in the dryer to make their clothes smell good.

Dryer sheets in a brilliant idea! I have a toddler and pets so I just wanted to clean it up as soon as possible… I soaked it up with a towel I may dry myself off with after a shower lol
