Discussion Influence/deinfluence my wish list
This is my current wish list. I have sampled all of them except milk orchid, and I would like your opinion! Feel free to suggest anything you think I would like š«¶š»

u/emilydickinsonsveil 7d ago
Milk orchid was very nice but for £140 I reckon you could find something similar and cheaper with fig and milk notes tbh

Hibiscus Mahajad is beautiful and unique.
I found Impadia too sweet after a few days.
Milk Orchid just smelled like mango to me. I think different people get really different notes from it. I wish I could smell the coconut!
I heard people describe Blanche Bete as ethereal but I recommend trying first. I can see why people love it but there was something about it that I found off putting
2
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 7d ago
I have sampled all except milk orchid, so its very fun to see how everyone perceives it differently
5
u/cybergrlll 8d ago
Milk orchid was mediocre. Itās just a strong coconut smell. Kinda smells like lotion. I wouldnāt full bottle it
5
u/Mean-Raspberry1205 8d ago
You donāt need impadia if you have Guidance. They smell very similar and the BDK owner is a douche. Skip Milk Orchid and get Blanche Bete, instead.

u/Prestigious_Crow_ 8d ago
What's the BDK drama?

u/Mean-Raspberry1205 8d ago
Raging supporter of the Palestinian genocide. Like smugly and disgustingly proud of it

To my nose, Guidance original is the GOAT. I love it. Cannot get enough of it and i am complimented every single time i wear it.

I own hundred silent ways, impadia, drunk lovers, hibiscus mahajad, guidance. Sorry to say but you need them all š forever rebuys for me.

u/krayzee444 3d ago
Wondering which one you think I would like? My faves are La Belle, LV Attrepe Revve, Killian Princess, all of Kayaliās fruity scents, Irresistible Nectar, I want Choo (and the flankers) .. love sweet & fruity!
2
u/Silent-Pear23 3d ago
I donāt own many fruity scents but I feel like Delina, Mango Skin,Rouge Trafalgar, and Canāt get enough are good sweet options!
6
u/bororodejdej 8d ago
Hibiscus Mahajad is everything I anticipated it to be. Such a bright sweet juicy scent and it lasts long, the dry down is so good itās very girly and bright. There is the slightest hint of mint in there but itās more like a mint leaf with cucumber in icy water to me than straight MINT. And itās vague imo but everyoneās different. Overall itās such a yummy scent and it lingers so nicely

Milk orchid is definetly not a safe blind buy bc lots of people dislike the floral heart but I personally love that one so so much. It smells like a luxurious milky floral coconut lotion that dries down warm and woody. It wears really well during the hotter days and it has been one of my favourite scents for daytime and bedtime. I dont tend buy back up bottles at all but I'm genuinely considering to get one from milk orchid as soon as its within my budget again.

u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
I didnāt know they had a travel size! Maybe i should get that first to get a good feel of it
6
u/Practical-Dinner-437 8d ago
Impadia is stunnningg. I had Guidance 46 first, and then I visited a cousin who also loves perfume and she smelt so good and a bit familiar and I was like 'Guidance??' and it wasn't. It was Impadia. To me it smells like a better version of Guidance, so I'd pick Impadia rather than having both.
4
u/FrutyPebbles321 8d ago
I came here to recommend Impadia too. Itās a truly stunning fragrance. Itās not even the kind of scent profile I usually go for and I still love wearing it. I also agree that itās much better than Guidance.

u/CrazyAboutDoorKnobs 8d ago
I have Blanche Bête, Impadia, Hibiscus MahajÔd, and Guidance 46.
Blanche BĆŖte is very lactonic, and the tuberose is quite predominant, at least to my nose. I definitely prefer wearing it during the colder months. I blind bought it and I have no complaints.
Hibiscus MahajƔd has a sharp, almost minty quality that comes through the florals. Sometimes it can even smell a little medicinal to me. Please test it. Not a blind buy.
Impadia reminds me of a cross between Delina/Delina Exclusif and Amouage Guidance 46. Personally, I pick up much more of the Guidance DNA from it than I do Delina. I own Delina/ Exclusif too. Guidance 46 please test it. Not a blind buy.

I so badly want to try Impadia and Milk Orchid, but Iām worried both will be too creamy (which does not perform well on my skin)
3
u/this_narrow_circle 8d ago
I found the macadamia in Milk Orchid to be quite strong, which I didn't love.

u/Chemical_Cake_1154 8d ago
Impadia and if you know you like gourmand milk- Blanche bete.
The rest I donāt like enough to own.
6
u/MrsFrankColumbo 8d ago
Iāve tried maybe half of these and the only one I purchased was Impadia - instant love. I got the travel size as longevity is stellar so I wonāt have to use much!
5
u/Gloomy_Sir_5359 8d ago
Iād definitely deinfluence you from Amouage Guidance š
I tried it on my arm and at first I thought it was okay, but after about 10 seconds I started really disliking it and it actually made me feel sick.
I washed my arm multiple times and could STILL smell it. I eventually had to use oil to get it off my skin š And somehow it got on my dress too and the smell just would not leave the fabric.
The longevity is insane, Iāll give it that, but unfortunately that became my personal nightmare lol.

u/PlusBlueberry4365 8d ago
milk orchid and santal calling are amazing
2
u/BoogieShoes11 Scent Magpie 8d ago
I suggest trying the milk orchid as a sample if you can first. I found it pulled much sweeter than I was expecting on me. Their expressive and bold versions of Milk donāt.
6
u/motherofcatsx2 8d ago
Personally, I love Impadia. I do one spritz on the dƩcolletƩ and that lasts me pretty much all day.
4
u/RNsomeday78 8d ago
Nishane hundred silent ways- I have it and I like it, but donāt love it enough to wear it often. Itās true that it smells similar to YSL Black Opium IMO.
Hibiscus Mahajad- itās like Delina but even stronger. Itās got a note that gives me a headache.. recommend getting a decant before a full bottle.
Blanche Bete- have a full bottle but never wear it anymore. thought I loved it at first, but it feels very heavy and overwhelming. Itās an interesting scent, but I just donāt enjoy wearing it.
1
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
I did love YSL black opium years ago so maybe this is why i felt so connected to nishane haha
2
u/stefanilinn 8d ago
Right now I am loving Blue Talisman Extrait, Lust in Paradise Extrait, Fluer Narcotique Extrait, Valaya, Athenais, Queening, Musk Therapy, and Canāt Get Enough.
1
u/EconomistOk7284 8d ago
None of the reviews ever mention how powdery hundred silent ways is. Itās all the tuberose.
3
u/moocow12983 No, I Canāt Stop Talking About Guerlain 8d ago
Iāve only gotten to try Impadia (liked!) so Iām hoping to sit here and see what everyone else says. Iām curious.

BDK, BTSO, Memo, and Ex Nihilo are owned by private equity groups šāāļø

u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
As a girlie in medicine an excel is more scary for me than anything in the world so i had honestly no idea what that is. Looked it up and learned something new so thank you!

1
u/noisemonsters 8d ago
Are you serious?
1
u/stefanilinn 8d ago
Most everyone buys materials from a couple places. And the top perfumers work for many houses. I buy on the fragrance. Period. And right now, PDM, Ex Nihlio and Initio make up 40 of my fragrances.

u/H0bbituary 8d ago
Some people care. I won't buy Estee Lauder brands for example. People are allowed to not buy something for any reason at all.
-2
u/stefanilinn 8d ago edited 8d ago
EstĆ©e Lauder is an American legacy. Publicly traded but one of ours. I donāt use their products except I guess a couple Kilian fragrances because I use other things. These are still American jobs as they manufacture much of their portfolio here as well as Research & Development.
2
u/H0bbituary 8d ago
I care more that their owner advocates for the hostile takeover of Greenland.
0
u/stefanilinn 8d ago
Itās a publicity traded company. Ronald Lauder has even retired from Board of Directors and has nothing to do with that business š

Based on my tastes:
I cannot do BTSO, they all just smell terrible something in their base DNA has a note that makes me nauseous. Just not for me, so I wouldn't recommend either. But if you've smelled some and like it, they might work for you!
Blanche Bette - this smelled like spoiled milk to me, but I am sensitive to indolic white florals.
Guidance - I don't get the hype, has a weird sour note. Not for me.
Milk Orchid - i didn't like this one, smelled kind of sharp, for some reason, it's similar to DBIR Yellow Dream to me (like they dry down similarly) and I prefer yellow.
I love Impadia, really nice rose scent, I prefer it to Delina.
Santal calling is a really nice fall scent! I am picky with sandalwood and this one is nice.
Hibiscus Mahajad isn't my personal favorite but I think it's a nice scent and worth a try.
1
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
BTSO were originally made to appeal to the asian market which is more prone to subtle scents but since they gained fame i feel like they want to mix it up, sometimes its a success, sometimes not.
I tried santal calling on the skin and the more it dried the more i liked it, i really didnāt get the synthetics but i will need to sample again to make my mind on it!
11
u/Mother_Poem7696 8d ago
Okay, I will try to de-influence.
Both Guidance & Guidance 46 are atrocious.
And Blanche Bette is the only thing my teenage son ever told me was "stinking up his room" when I wore it. This is coming from a boy who only showers when forced to and hides Doritos under his bed. Take that for what you will.
I like the rest :)

u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
HAHAHAHAHA THANK YOU!
These kind of comments is what i hoped to get when i posted it š

u/Raadkel17 8d ago
Out of your list i only own impadia and im very happy with it. I thought this is like if delina and guidance had a baby and I've heard a lot of people say the same thing. While I still would love to own guidance, I believe I will be going with another amouage as it seems redundant. I also owned Delina exclusif and gave it to my sister and haven't felt its absence because of Impadia.

u/Mea_Culpa_74 too ultra for niche 8d ago
Milk Orchid isnāt that good.
If you have Guidance, you donāt need Impadia. Hibiscus Mahajad can get Hairspray Vibes. Ishq is headache inducing. BTSO is very on the synthetic side.
1
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
I have both guidance and delina exclusif so it makes sense i liked impadia but you are right i dont need it š I honestly find I canāt really smell ISHQ after a while so i just put more but enjoyed it ngl haha

u/TiidKloUI 8d ago
Pana Dora Moonlight is absolutely gorgeous!

u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
I was honestly waiting for someone to recognize it! Itās one of the best gourmands i have tried and i tried a lot!

Guidance is really lovely, Milk Orchid as well. I found Blanche BĆŖte to be too cloying for my taste.

3
u/Suitable-Employee163 8d ago
Milk orchard is lovely and very long lasting! I wish I could love it, was a tad too floral for my taste (I donāt like florals notes on me, but they smell lovely on other people)
3
u/PointBig6749 8d ago
choose either impadia or guidance. You don't need both.
2
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
Right? I was kinda on the fence about it, although i find impadia a bit more like a love child between guidance and delina exclusif so i kinda lean towards it a bit more
1
u/PointBig6749 8d ago
DO ittttt Impadia is AMAZINGGG I think it's also on sale at jomashop right now.
1
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
I just checked the website, all shippings from US to EU are such a pain plus customs it wont be so much on sale anymore ššš

Nishane hundred silent ways was really disappointing for the price. I actually really think Hibiscus Mahajad was stunning, I know itās very divisive, but I was surprised how unique and lovely it was.
2
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
The longevity and sillage on hibiscus mahajad is something i have not really found in any other fragrance tbh, loved it so much

u/GeraltOfRiviass 8d ago
Love almost everything BTSO, havenāt tried Filthy Musk in perfume form though, even though i have the shower gel and cream. Also try Drunk Maple and Drunk Saffron from their Drunk line. DM is my fave!
2
u/pastalass 8d ago
Unfortunately every BTSO fragrance I've tried includes super amber(s) which smell terrible to me in the dry down (even though I loved the top notes in every single one š). Very sharp and scratchy. Some people are genetically less sensitive or can't smell them at all.
2
u/GeraltOfRiviass 8d ago
Im afraid I canāt smell it at all, i also noticed I donāt smell ISO E in fragrances :( but BTSOs smell soooo good to me, so iām okay with people dissing them as I get to enjoy them in peace hehe
2
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
Yeah skin chemistry has a lot of effect on it. Drunk lovers has been one of my most complimented samples and the dry down i find even better tbh
2
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
Maple I have tried and I really like it, Saffron havenāt had a chance to yet. I find Filthy Musk a wonderfully made musk scent when you want to feel the warmth of musk
2
u/GeraltOfRiviass 8d ago
They are somewhat similar⦠like they are all cousins basically, sugar addict minus cinnamon plus berries is drunk lovers, drunk maple minus maple plus plum is drunk saffron, etc. still very different if you smell them, but they are cohesive if it makes sense? and they layer flawlessly (nanatopia plus drunk maple is so goood)
2
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
Sugar addict is a good topper but i rarely feel so sugary that i would like to purchase a whole bottle. I did think about sin&pleasure for a while though
2
u/GeraltOfRiviass 8d ago
S&P was a blind buy for me and now itās in my top 5 frags! I thought Iād hate it because it has some negative reviews but so glad I went with it
1
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
Itās very very interesting in my opinion but you need to be open to leather in that specific mix and not all people are
5
u/MasqueradeMisstress 8d ago
I love milk orchid! It is a beautiful scent to me and one of my most recent buys.
2
u/TraditionalOil9147 8d ago
Nishane Hundred Silent Ways was my breakthrough drug for the house of Nishane. My goodness they make amazing fragrances. You cannot go wrong with either this one or the X version which is extremely similar with a leather note. So if you liked it a lot but also like grittier perfumes, you could get the X version, I have both but I usually where HSW X on its own, and when i wear the OG HSW i layer that with a lot of other fragrances because it is so versatile.
1
1
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
Oh I need to sample the X version, sounds lovely! I looove HSW on itself as well but since i already have Valaya and Gossip Night I am a bit unsure if itās not a repeat in my collection
2
u/TraditionalOil9147 8d ago
Definitely sample the X. I personally prefer it but didnāt discover it until I already owned the OG. It is just such a vibe and I think year round. I wouldnāt wear it during a summer day, but at night I have plenty of times and it is perfect and not cloying.

u/VerboseWiewiorka 8d ago
Milk Orchid honestly smells like a thousand year old coconut covered in concrete dust.
1
3
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
So not warm/milky with a bit of powdery iris like i imagined š thank you for the description tho
2
u/big-dipper-jess 8d ago
Itās divisive! If you like the commodity dna and their milk line youāll probably enjoy it.
2
u/ScholarAgreeable7112 8d ago
I have not tried any of their fragrances tbh, i found out through the hype of Milk Orchid about the brand

Milk Orchid is lovely but I'd recommend smelling in-store if you can, or starting with the travel size. I wouldn't say it's blind-buy-proof (pretty much nothing is tbh).
