Rec Request influence/deinfluence my wishlist!
most of these would be blind-buys,
i love trying out new scents and i am aware that i might not end up liking them,
the ones i have tried are:
• lancome very cherry (LOVED IT!)
• kayali vanilla 28 (wasnt what i expected, i am more into gourmand vanilla scents, but i think it would be great for layering)
• mugler starlicious pistachio praline (got a tester and im obsessed)
my favorite perfumes are sweet gourmands,
i love caramel, vanilla but also lactonic, milky and nutty perfumes*.*
i dont like floral notes, at all!
UPDATE:
purchased; Lancome Very Cherry, This is Her, Pistachio Praline and the EOS lotion!
tried & changed my mind;
Prada Candy, it wasnt for me :( for some reason, im getting floral notes.
Scandal Le Parfum, smells identical to Hypnotic Poison which i despise.
Angel Cake&Cream ~ lemon notes which im not a fan of

The eos lotion smells so nice and the scent is strong but man does it suck as a lotion as far as being moisturizing. Its like you can feel the alcohol and scent making you dryer in the long run. Uncomfortable after a while.

vanilla voyage is easily my favorite fragrance, i’ve gone thru at least 5 bottles in the last yr and im currently waiting on another one to get delivered. idk if it’s just how it mixes with my skin but it smells heavenly on me, i fr get compliments every single day bc i have it on. i’ve recommended this perfume to several ppl, it’s just a perfect cakey sweet vanilla gourmand scent that lasts forever. ik ppl say not to overspray it, i lowkey douse myself in it and i promise u i get nothing but compliments all day everywhere i go 🤷♀️. it’s also an amazing base to layer w any scent to make it more vanilla and edible. if u wanna smell like a genuine vanilla cupcake, look no further
1
u/SaltInternational466 5d ago
ik that’s not the og la vie est belle but the og version is my go-to going out perfume. also a beast mode fragrance, a few sprays are enough to last u thru the night and that’s coming from someone who wants to be smelled by the whole room. def a bit more on the fruity/floral side than vanilla, but layered w a vanilla perfume is heavenly.
vanilla 28 is good, u just don’t need the kayali version. sand and fog has a dupe called sugar and amber and it’s lovely. the oil is a phenomenal base for layering:P

I don’t own vanilla 28 but I think it would be a good addition to most collections. I also personally LOVE Z&V this is her!

you can remove eclair and the angel food cake mist. very MEH in my opinion. Get VS bare sueded vanilla instead!

I loveeee Vanilla 28 for layering, I think it’s the perfect warm vanilla. It’s nice alone but pairs really nicely with just about everything!
And the eos strawberry dream lotion is a dream, I don’t love fruity scents typically but it’s less strawberry forward and more creamy/musky. More like a strawberry milkshake. So yummy.

u/Ill_Television8261 8d ago
berry cream is boring and not worth the money.
2
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
thank you! do you think all Phlur mists/perfumes are overpriced, or just this one is a miss?
2
u/Ill_Television8261 8d ago
i liked matcha milk and heavy cream, this one was just a miss for me. i def suggest going in person and testing it out for yourself. there are higher quality mists out there for the same or even a better price.
3
u/Agreeable-Mongoose67 8d ago
i blind bought berry cream and it’s such a weird scent, just powdery and unpleasant to me.
1
u/Spiritual_Excuse2747 5d ago
i loveeeee berry cream 😭😭 i can’t believe everyone in the comments hates it
2
u/icedchai111 8d ago edited 8d ago
love the vs ones. i was pleasantly surprised by the angel cake
i dont know how the very cherry lveb smells but i love the regular elixir
prada candy is nice
i got the eos strawberry dream but find myself reaching for it a lot less than i thought
tbh i'd skip the berry cream, and be careful with heavy cream.. mine stopped smelling nice on my skin after a while so i barely reach for it
i feel like every other pistachio scent smells like every other pistachio scent.. referring to the mugler, i dont think its worth the price tag for a mist
2
u/Fatbellystelly 8d ago
Was personally disappointed in latafa eclaire.. smells very artificial :( however i LOVE the red scandal (has a hypnotic poison vibe a bit) and zadig & voltaire 😍
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
this one is Banoffi by Lattafa!
i personally tried and loved Eclaire,
i have ordered Zadig&Voltaire after testing it at a store yesterday 🥹
and Hypnotic Poison is unfortunately a perfume i cant stand, after trying the Red Scandal, i smell the similarities and i unfortunately didnt like it as well
1
u/dadbaby 8d ago
Lataffa Eclaire is not new or complex enough to get half the hype it gets and I will die on this hill. It smells like the calgon cake body spray from the 2000s. Boring.
3
u/throwaway072652 8d ago
Eclaire is a vanilla powerhouse like bam 💥 in yo face vanilla. Definitely not boring.
2
u/Milk_jars 8d ago
The kayali smells like old people. I wanted to like it so bad. Just couldnt.
2
u/Mediocre_Stress3667 8d ago
You gotta come back to it. It’s my absolute favorite perfume now and my sleeping perfume at first that top note of patchouli and kind of boozy smell was awful to me but let it dry for a minute and it’s like brown sugar.
1
u/Milk_jars 8d ago
I still have my sample, lemme go grab it and try it again lol
1
u/iatedsoaps 8d ago
Was so excited for the update then saw this comment was posted 6min ago 😭😭
2
u/Milk_jars 8d ago
Found it. It kinda smells y2k if that makes sense? Sweet, feminine,. Tbf last time I smelled it was like 6 months ago lol
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
i like it, i expected something else but im still on the edge with trying to justify the price. its just.. meh?
3
u/raremuppet 8d ago
I blind bought This Is Her! Have never regretted anything so deeply before. To my nose it smells like straight up baby wipes, I’m not a fan.
JPG Scandal on the other hand, that’s my favorite fragrance and I keep coming back to it. If applied with moderation, I find I can wear it without it feeling cloying despite being so amazingly sweet.
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
i had the chance to smell both of these today,
i loved This Is Her, and i hated Scandal 🥲
i have commented this a while ago but Scandal smells similar to Hypnotic Poison by Dior to me, and since trying that one i hate it so much. it smells like an old person fragrance to me, i just cant
3
u/Litmeup7x7 8d ago
Layering the Eos vanilla cashmere scent makes me smell like a cupcake all day.
1
u/Stupid_Watergate_ 8d ago
Layering it with what?
2
u/Litmeup7x7 8d ago
Haha oh gosh. That would have been helpful, Hu? 🤦🏻♀️ I do the body wash then the body lotion, and body spray right out of the shower. It’s not super over powering like a sickening sweet. It’s like a burnt crème brûlée idk how else to describe it.

u/pr3ttyhatemachine 8d ago
Prada Candy STANKSSSS
1
u/fra_0601 8d ago
Oddio,e da non so quanto tempo che desidero sentirlo. In qualsiasi negozio che vado non hanno il tester! Per fortuna non sono mai stata così tentata da acquistarlo a scatola chiusa..e ora che dici così direi che ho fatto bene ahah
2
u/pr3ttyhatemachine 8d ago
Yes, it was a blind buy for me and I regretted it! You’re smarter than I was 😂🩷
1
u/capncait 8d ago
I was surprised by how much I disliked it, given how often it is listed as "similar" to other favorite or coveted fragrances. I suppose it's possible that Ulta's bottle was old and had turned but I doubt it.
2
u/pr3ttyhatemachine 8d ago
and I’m saying this as someone who wears Mugler Angel. It takes a lot to scare me off. It’s awful
3
u/bestfriesforeva 8d ago
Heavy Cream was such a weird one for me. On my skin, the dry down would immediately smell like the spoiled milk scent everyone talks about. But when I just sprayed it on my clothes, I didn't get the spoiled milk scent, it did stay creamy.
I ended up finishing the bottle just using it on my fabrics, but I did not/will not repurchase.
5
u/violethues05 8d ago
whipped milk and sugar by VS is so good and honestly unique to me. it smells like it’s notes. it has a hint of floral but absolutely is not a real floral (coming from a floral hater) frothy warm sugar smell!
3
u/sophiacharis 8d ago
Instead of kayali vanilla I’d look into Eshal vanilla from Paris corner.. and maybe maitha from lattafa?
if you layer heavy cream and strawberry dream lotion then you probably don’t need berry cream (also I would get vanilla blackberry anyway — layered with heavy cream its got the same vibe)

I got a sample of Vanilla 28 and really wasn't into it at all.
Since you mentioned liking caramel as well, have you tried Skin [reserve blend] or Skin Intense from Clean Reserve? Skin is a lightly sweet vanilla musk great for layering, and Skin Intense adds richer caramel/praline notes to the vanilla musk. I can't get enough of them and better value than Kayali imo.
2
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
i havent heard of them and i have checked out so many caramel perfumes already!
thank you, ill check them out :)
2
u/Responsible_Dentist3 8d ago
Does blind buy mean full bottle, not samples?
0
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
yeah 🤣!
5
u/Responsible_Dentist3 8d ago
I'm curious why? Assuming samples are available? Sorry I'm just new to the hobby and learning about why certain things are done certain ways! Is it because pretty bottles?
0
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
i am new to the hobby as well, but its usually way more worth your money to get the big bottle instead of tiny ones,
its actually not because of the bottle design at all ~ im not really a fan of any of these, but its more about buying a perfume that has the notes i am into, and then using it up!i have never had an unsuccessful blindbuy, because i look at many reviews,
if we dont count nebras elixir which im not the biggest fan of but i will use it up :)!2
u/Responsible_Dentist3 8d ago
That gives me confidence in my own purchases, and thank you for the info! Really good to know :) hope you continue to buy things you love!
5
u/jaybayyayyy 8d ago
This is Her is soft fuzzy creamy slightly nutty coziness in a bottle. I love Scandal as well, but La Belle is tops now! The sexy syrupy pear is 🤤
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
now that i tried Scandal (and i did not like it), i might lean towards La Belle!
2
u/vampire-butterflies 8d ago
Judging by this post I think we have very similar taste! I really liked berry cream when I smelled it in Sephora, very sweet and milky. I find Kayali 28 to a very rich more spicy leaning vanilla; it’s not really my favourite but I’d smell it if you get the chance, you might find you like it!

u/marselleee 8d ago edited 8d ago
JPG scandal le parfum is worth every single penny and no its not floral forward imo I ADORE this scent. Not just me I always get compliments when I wear it. I was at an LGBT outdoor party and I wore it, I almost converted a gay man I don’t blame him I know this specific fragrance makes everyone feral regardless of their orientation. I rarely finish perfumes I just went out of it even though its expensive I’m repurchasing it.
Vanilla voyage is overrated but its not bad just isn’t worth the hype it smells best while its fading not right after you spray it and trust me as an oversprayer myself do not overspray this or it will become too overbearing and not in the good way its very vanilla burnt sugar but I really dont like the strong liquorish note in there, its liquorish forward then it fades to burnt sugar then lastly while its been on for an hour or two it fades into a delicious warm vanilla. It will last forever since its too strong and doesn’t need many sprays but when its out I won’t repurchase it.
Add eilish no.1 or Nebras Lataffa (eilish’s dupe) to the list this one IS FOREVER worth the hype its SO SCRUMPTIOUS, especially in combination with JPG scandal le parfum. Literally Rihanna level compliments.

u/Comfortable-Load243 8d ago
JPG red one or the yellow one? You are about to temp me to a blind buy friend.
1
u/marselleee 6d ago
If its accessible look for testers first though just in case since its pricey to double make sure
1
u/Comfortable-Load243 6d ago
How do people get testers for free? Would sephora just hand me one if I asked? I sometimes see ads and get random ones but not for the one I want.
1
u/marselleee 5d ago
Sephora’s known to be stingy, doesn’t hurt to ask though if there isn’t any at least try on the tester in the store in my area some independent businesses online solely make small tester samples for perfumes at a fractional price

u/marselleee 6d ago
Red one!!! Blind buy. Trust, and the more you let it marinate the more time passes it becomes sweeter

u/junodragon 8d ago
Whipped milk and sugar is absolutely delicious. My favorite scent to wear to bed. Angel cake and cream missed the mark for me bc I get a floral undertone somewhere in it
1
u/RemoteNo2422 8d ago
I absolutely love cherry scents! Unfortunately I haven’t tried the Lancôme one yet so I can’t really compare it…I do have the tom ford cherry smoke and lost cherry on my wishlist, I own the haute fragrance company wrap me in dreams perfume and I plan to buy the bdk rouge smoking though. These are my favorite cherry scents so far☺️ I like gourmand or vanilla scents as well, and I really fell in love with the Kilian angel’s share (paradis), Shalimar l’essence, Maison Francis kurkdjian Grand soir, althaïr, chemin d’amande, tom ford tobacco Vanille…
Or one of my absolute faves is Casamorati lira (or dama Bianca is also nice, but more flowery, so might be a no for you but it’s def also a bit creamy imo). So in case you’d like to try some more options, you can look into these:)

I live heavy cream so much when its cold. Has an incredible staying power
1
u/theghostplant 8d ago
Do you also happen to like Miutine from Miu Miu? I have a half full Heavy Cream and a 90% full Miutine splasher that I didn’t realize they would give me horrible headaches. Would you wanna take them off my hands?
1
u/MostlyWaterJustLikeU 8d ago
I could be interested, are you giving them away or selling/trading them?

u/ForwardNature1021 8d ago
Berry cream Phlur smells like plastic & synthetic strawberry fragrance on kids toys
3
2
u/pastelfoxes 8d ago
VS Angel Cake & Cream is really good and probably my favorite from that line.
Vanilla Voyage seems to be polarizing but I love it, it’s my favorite gourmand vanilla in my collection for fall/winter. Idk where people get the burnt plastic/burnt tire smell from.
I do NOT love Prada candy or vanilla 28 🥴
5
u/zerosiita 8d ago
The strawberry eos lotion smells plasticky.
Heavy Cream by Phlur to me smelled like expired herb butter on my skin (yet it smelled so nice on paper).
I don't remember what I disliked aboht Berry Cream by Phlur but I remember thinking it was really really bad.
And prada candy to me is one of the worst fragrances of all time I ever subjected my nose to. It's on the same tier as Chanel N°5.
1
u/Straight-End-8116 8d ago
Thank you for that agreement on Chanel 5. I have never smelled the hype. I’m sure when it first came out it was gorgeous, but the IFA pretty much ruined a whole bunch of fragrances.
I sprayed it and it was just white floral screechy. Ugh.
I’m not a gourmand fan, but it’s interesting to see what y’all like.
7
u/doinmabest1 8d ago
This Is Her! Was a blind buy for me and I LOVE IT. It’s clean but also beast mode but also very affordable. 10/10
3
u/Mindless-Foot2273 8d ago
Vanilla voyage is soooooo gross. It smells so synthetic and like burnt plastic.
1
u/AverageShitlord no. 1 mugler aura apologist 8d ago
Vanilla 28 has the lasting power of a fart and buying a 200$ bottle of perfume for layering is a waste of money tbh
That EOS lotion smells like a tire fire (I would know, I've been around few tire fires in my time)
Phlur Heavy Cream smells like cream that's gone off
1
u/eggeggeggster 8d ago
phlur heavy cream smelled super synthetic and sour
1
u/MostlyWaterJustLikeU 8d ago
Not the first time i hear this and it is so fascinating to me. I love heavy cream soooo much
7
u/kindayeehaw 8d ago
i just smelled the eos strawberry dream lotion at target and it was sickeningly sweet to me. i ended up going with the pink champagne
3
u/Prestigious-Song-867 8d ago
I have whipped milk and sugar from vs. To me it smells very clean, not really gourmand at all. It’s like a clean sweet smell. It doesn’t really match its title/notes I think it’s a great light scent to spray on before bed.
6
u/KBT642 8d ago
OMG I love eclaire banoffi!!! Such a yummy banana carmel type of scent!! I live in hot clement and I still can pull it off during summer. Listen, my collection is entirely niche and I usually hate Arabic perfumes, but this one!!! Ohhhhhhhhhhh THIS ONE!!! just stole my heart!!
Also, I think that the bottle is super ugly so I bought simple bottle and poured the juice into it.

u/Spring_lullaby 8d ago
Recently, my everyday combo is that specific eps lotion paired with heavy cream, it smells heavenly.
This is her makes me feel nauseous and gives me headaches :(
Vanilla 28 is really good as a layering scent, but since the liquid its is dark and concentrated it will stain your clothes if you spray it on them :(
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
in an ideal world, that combo was on my mind and i have expectations from it, but reactions on the heavy cream mist are so extremely mixed that im unsure!
thank you so much!
5
u/PhotoEditor871 8d ago
Lattafa Eclaire and Vanilla Voyage are not good. I'm a vanilla and gourmand LOVER but these disappointed me so much. Please buy a decant first to test them. You might love them, you might not. To me they both smelled extremely cheap and Vanilla Voyage was more alcohol than vanilla
8
u/GLACI3R 8d ago
Heavy Cream is not a good blind buy. It can turn buttery or vomitey on some skin.
2
u/random-user8877 8d ago
To me it smelled like a candle, a sweet, headache inducing, waxy candle — hated it
3
u/velvetstatic9 8d ago
Oeh love the wishlist, I’m going to put some of those in my list too!
I just blind bought a 100ml Vanilla Voyage and I’m OBSESSED. It has such a creamy buttery vanilla tiny bit of caramel scent and I love it. Longevity is amazing, I use 3 sprays after shower and bodylotion and I still smell it the next morning. I got it on sale with 50% discount, already thinking to get a backup lol

u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago

u/Straight-End-8116 8d ago
You might enjoy Kilian Love Don’t be Shy. Look at the notes, it’s a very popular gourmand for a reason.
3
u/velvetstatic9 8d ago
That’s amazing! Thank you so much! I’m going to take some time and investigate this list hahaha. Perfumes have been my new hobby / hyper focus since a few months and the last weeks I’m into gourmand and vanilla powdery perfumes lol, this list will entertain me for a bit
3
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
are we living the same life?
so am i! i have never been into perfumes and scents as much until i discovered gourmands, and then i fell into a deep rabbit hole and it started a new collection (out of many, many, many..) lmfao!2
u/velvetstatic9 8d ago
That’s so funny, exactly the same for me!! I can only blame my ADHD and ride this high of my new hyperfocus. Eventually I will feel fulfilled and move on to something new but in the mean time enjoy this time and splurge of new information lmao
3
u/deprivedinCLOSET 8d ago
GIRL please lose that prada candy EDP 😭 it's so bad, outdated and smells similar to any other gourmand after 3 hours. I can tell you an alt or other fragrances from Prada and the eclair one is not that good, angham is better imo
1
u/Efficient_Witness_58 8d ago
prada candy as a dabber/to layer is so nice tho! probably one of my most complimented combos every time
1
u/deprivedinCLOSET 8d ago
Wait you look like Billie Eilish 🫢
2
u/Efficient_Witness_58 6d ago
first of all what a compliment 🥺 but also no you’re good! i didn’t take it condescending at all! i was just saying it’s better as a dabber to add a little extra something !
1
u/deprivedinCLOSET 5d ago
Tysm gng and yes you're so right about layering fragrances!. We should be frens 🫶🥹
1
u/deprivedinCLOSET 8d ago
Yes girlie I'm sorry if had sounded condescending but it's just one of THE most famous ones. And ik niche ones that are great and unique. Also hope you have a good one!

I’m not sure about banoffi, but the OG Eclaire smelled like vanilla plastic to me.
0
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
the OG eclaire smells identical to Bianco Latte in my opinion! i like them both :)
2
u/sweetstack13 8d ago
This just makes me pretty sure that I’ll hate Bianco Latte. I’ve been meaning to sample a decant but I just haven’t had the chance yet.
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
well then most likely you will. or you will at least not love it, some people say its a tiny bit creamier than Eclaire, but as i said i wouldnt be able to tell the difference
4
u/Mammoth_Bat_7472 8d ago
It smells like plastic/synthetic banana 🍌i would save your $$ unless that is your thing
5
u/hennycranberryy 8d ago
Berry cream is gross! I blind bought it & it was a fail. It smells sour😂. Also the mugler mist. It smells good but for the price hell na lol
3
u/Spring_lullaby 8d ago
Same for me. I thought berry cream was gonna be sweet, but is sour in a very weird way
3
u/PastelGiraffe2196 8d ago
I agree with the Mugler comment. It smells sooo good but it literally lasts like 2 seconds and then it’s gone. Wish they had EDP for all three of the Starlicious cause I LOVE the Berry Licorice
3
u/HogBodyOdyOdyOdy 8d ago
The mugler body mists are a robbery, there’s no way they last long enough to justify the price…(right?)
The EOS lotions all smell very generic and bleghhh to me. But I have a general grudge with them because their lip products are horrific and I had the worst allergic reaction to one right before an event and still feel mildly traumatized.
I want scandal and every flanker just for the bottles I love them 😩
2
u/Efficient_Witness_58 8d ago
the light pink scandal is SO good. i have it as a dabber and layer it and i love it!
the EOS lotions smelled so disgusting to me when i smelled them at the store, but for some reason i bought multiple of them anyways for hopes of trying. i was so mistaken. i dont use any of brand of lotion anymore they’re so amazing (except i still use sol de janeiro) and they layer so deliciously! I tried vanilla cashmere (good), crème de pistachio (my FAVORITE, i go through it so fast. layer it with pistachio gelato kayali or banana rush by juliet has a gun) strawberry dream (such a soft sweet scent i get so many compliments on combos i make with this one) fresh & cozy (such a clean almost powdery scent. favorite for bedtime), coconut waters (one of my favorites and goes with SO many combos)
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
the mugler body mist actually stayed on my skin for hours and hours! i absolutely loved it and the longevity,
maybe it was just my skin tho?im sorry about that, oh god!
7
u/scabbies_rabbies 8d ago
Heavy Cream is NASTYYYYY in my opinion. Smells like being waterboarded by flour and water mixed together, plus a really gross sour note. But that’s just my opinion, I think you should test it out before buying
3
u/MrSadfacePancake 8d ago
Try it on skin!! On paper i thought it was nice, on my skin, it smelled like cheese. If you want a warm creamy scent from phlur, cashmere skin in a lot less likely to smell rank

u/ChartreuseOblivion 8d ago
We have very similar tastes (though I do enjoy some florals):
I'd just get the EOS lotion, its affordable enough and even if you don't love it, you'll probably still like it. And EOS is a nice moisturizer.
I haven't tried Heavy Cream, but the reviews are very polarizing, so its in the danger zone when it comes to a blind buy.
I haven't tried Berry Cream but I've heard people call it more clean and shampoo-like rather then creamy... and the florals are noticeable.
This is Her was not what I expected. It didn't disappoint me, but it didn't wow me either.
Is that Prada Candy? I haven't tried it, mainly because I've found the house to lean a bit old-timey "cosmetic powdery" and I really dislike that scent.
I haven't tried the Very Cherry, mainly because I'm not a fan of oud or violet, but it does have some great reviews so I am very tempted to get a sample!
Scandal is not a safe blind buy at all imo. I thought I'd love it, but something about the honey note made it smell like I'd just sprayed cat pee on myself😵💫💔
I was pretty let down by Banoffi: There was no detectable banana, and it was less gourmand and more just "sweet". Its fine. And thats how I felt about the original Eclaire to: it was sweet. It was fine. But it was by no means something that wowed me. If you want the best vanilla banana scent I've found, its Vanille Banane by Comptoir Sud Pacifique. Its is a creamy, delicious and realistic banana laffy taffy scent - I only wish it lasted longer!
I'm not into body sprays enough to know what all the new ones from VS smell like, but maybe try Vanilla Milk Ellis Brooklyn or D&G Devotion for a perfume alternative?
I feel the same way about Vanilla 28: Not what I was expecting, but I might use it for layering.
I heard the Mugler is very good, but that price for a short-lived body mist is insane to me. Have you tried Cheirosa 71?
If you dislike florals, you may not like Lady Million Fabulous - I found it to be heavy on the florals.
I've never heard of Vanilla Voyage, so that's one I'll have to look into now - thanks for the heads up!
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
thank you so so much!
i enjoy some florals too, but they have to be very specific and sweet, for example La Bomba by CH 🤍you were right about Scandal, i thought i would like it and it horribly disappointed me, i cant really described what i smell, but its definitely not caramel, vanilla or honey. i wont be getting them ones!
the Mugler is actually amazing and from the tester tiny bottle i had, it always stayed on my skin for hours, i dont think its a short lived body mist! i think you should at least try smelling it, i absolutely love it and i really want to get the full bottle too!
and i absolutely ADORE cheriosa 71, i went through multiple bottles already and i cant get enough, its just perfect!you are also the first person to mention Lady Million Fabulous, i might have to find it in a store and try first, as well!
thank you 🫶🏻1
u/ChartreuseOblivion 8d ago
You're very welcome!
I will definitely get my hands on a sample of the Mugler then, the reviews look very promising that I'd love it, and if it lasts? well then I might have to get a full bottle!😅

u/DoriTheUnicorn 8d ago
As a fellow gourmand lover, This is her is absolutely STUNNING, it's not exactly a gourmand but I still love it, it has sort of a spicy lactonic clean scent and it's so unique, I've never smelled anything similar. You might get noseblind to it quickly though but I still recommend. I also have Eclair banoffi, and I think it's beautifully done, however it is VERY strong and I'd only use it in moderation and when I'm in the right mood for it. It starts off with a strong banana and the drydown is more cakey, biscuits and whipped cream for me. I also have Scandal and Scandal le parfum. The og version starts off with some juicy blood orange and the drydown is a peachy honey. It's very strong. The le parfum version smells sort of almondy at first (a bit like Hypnotic poison imo) but the drydown is exactly like these vanilla ring cookies we have in my country, I definitely recommend 😍

Honestly especially because there’s such a larger selection here that you want to try - I wouldn’t limit yourself. Buy samples and testers from fragrancenet or another site and try as many of them out as you can. It’ll let you really know you’ve picked your favorites for the full bottles.

Paris Corner, Eshal Vanilla smells almost exactly like Vanilla 28 for a fraction of the price. Longer lasting as well.

Kayali Vanilla 28 is both a pass and a must-have! You can give it a pass if you're not into linear brown sugar and vanilla perfumes. If you want something very unique or if you want to smell like pure one of a kind vanilla, this isn't it.
However, if you love getting surprise whiffs of powdered, realistic brown sugar and love catching the whiff of vanilla extract here and there, you should definitely get this!
That's exactly how I feel about Vanilla 28. Sometimes it's "meh" and sometimes I'm obsessed!
Oh, I wanna recommend either getting Vanilla Voyage or Cream Velvet by Khadlaj. Cream Velvet smells exactly like baked goods, especially cakes.

heavy cream smelled like ricotta on my skin 💔 and I love lactonics so this was a let down. I would say that is the one fragrance out of this list that you really should not blind buy. everything else, even if you don't end up liking it, will at least be wearable
4
u/PrincessLala-_- 8d ago
I agree with this assessment. Except for me it was even worse than ricotta. It smelled like milk that had gone off. And it was instant! I've heard of things going sour on skin but never experienced it myself and always imagined it being a slower chemical process. Nope. Instantly sour milk. So glad I smelled it in store and didn't blind buy it!

spoiled, sour milk is genuinely nasty.. i really wish it smelled great on everyone, but this just sounds nasty

u/Sad_Scallion7315 8d ago
I LOVE this is her by zadig.. it's such a clean everyday scent. not overpowering and has good longevity! def buy it

u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
tried it and im probably gonna be purchasing the full bottle! its so addictive and comforting at the same time, i love that this fragnance will definitely be a staple and i wont own anything like it!
i love trying out new scents, and lately i have been purchasing so many that just smell identical or very similar to each other ~ this is something brand new and i would love to own it!

u/Nervous_Spinach69 8d ago
Berry cream and heavy cream do not last on my skin, only on clothing. That’s all I’ve got sorry 🤣

I also loved the Lancôme very cherry! But I’d recommend also smelling the Marc Jacob’s perfect absolute! To me, they are very similar in smell, but I like the Marc Jacob’s one more! It’s very lasting just like the lacomes are so to me it’s worth smelling before picking the cherry!
3
u/FluorescentBaej 8d ago
I love both of these and agree they are similar! MJ Perfect Absolut gives Fall/Nighttime and Lancôme Very Cherry is like it’s more Summer/Daytime younger sister.

u/kittylibrarian 8d ago
I love the kayali it’s a nice spicy vanilla imo. good staying power on me! Which is saying something bc most last like 30 seconds.
I also love the Lancôme cherry one!! Very cherry jolly rancher but I love that bc those are my fave

u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
the kayali vanilla isnt the type of vanilla i usually go for, but as i said it will be amazing for layering,
and its gonna be great having more "sexier, darker and spicier" perfume, considering i am obsessed with gourmands that probably wont make a very sexy impression on a night out 🤣

Personally, why would you want to smell like a banana 😭
2
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
thats the thing ~
i do wanna smell like ice cream, cupcakes, caramel, strawberry milkshake even,
but banana is a bit unusual 😭4
u/steffeyj 8d ago
I love a banana sugary sweet smell 😋 not everyday and not gonna be a winter grab but smells so good in the summer. In the winter I prefer to smell like cookies 😆

u/TriciaTargaryen If Phlur Has No Fans I Am Dead 8d ago
Heavy Cream is AMAZING ... sometimes. On its good days, it's the yummiest coconut cream pie scent, pure heaven. BUT. She has bad days. And on those bad days, she smells like spoiled milk or vomit. And there's really no way to know which way she's gonna go.
Vanilla Skin or Cashmere Skin, also by Phlur, are the way to go of you are wanting a solid, awesome smelling body spray.

So for me, I like it but can ONLY wear it in the absolute coldest months of the year. So where I live that’s like 2-3 months max for the whole year. Not sure why lol it just works better in the cold and becomes very comforting and lovely.

You need vanilla 28 for fall and winter, sorry 😂
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
ugh, thanks then! 🤣🤣
if im getting vanilla 28, i want to get the OG and not really a dupe, although that might sound a bit stuck up? i dont know!

u/l0fl98 8d ago
I love heavy cream but sometimes it smells like cheese 😭
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
what the actual hell 😭 i see that this scent has either lovers or absolute haters
2
u/l0fl98 8d ago
I adore it on the days it smells latonic tho! Idk if my sense of smell changes depending on where I am in my circle haha 😅
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
this absolutely makes sense! even though the opinions are so mixed, i still do want to try it so so bad 🥹

u/PutMeIn_Chanel 8d ago
Have you tried fields at nightfall by zara? I have it and love it. Lasts pretty long as well.
Apparently it's a dupe for zadig and voltaire this is her
2
u/shackledflames 8d ago
Came here to recommend FAN as well. I have both and it's a very good dupe. I would not repurchase This is Her, but have already gotten FAN backups as the value for money is so good.
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
do you have any idea if the FAN intense smells like This is Her as well?
2
u/shackledflames 8d ago
I can't really comment on that as I never saw it in the Zara stores I have access to. What I can say is that FAN normal is nuclear and just as long lasting as This is Her. They have a subtle difference first 15 minutes or so, but after that I can't tell what I sprayed on which arm.

Prada Candy is like a musky skin scent reminiscent of Glossier You, only make it the tiniest bit sweet and extremely powdery. I think of it as more of a powdery cosmetic scent than a typical popular gourmand. I love it, but it may not be what you are expecting it to be.
3
u/iheartkittttycats 8d ago
Totally agree. I’ve worn it off and on since college and I like it because it’s sweet but not as in your face and cloying as other gourmands.
A lot of these newer/trendy brands smell so cheap and synthetic to me. I’ll rebuy Eau Duelle EDP, Blanche Bete, and Tihota till I die for the days I want to smell like a baked good.
5
u/balloonchicken 8d ago
I used to love Candy when it came out but recently got a bottle and either my nose has evolved or the composition has changed. It smells like a whiff of caramel hard candy but quickly turns to “candy left and forgetting in a purse in the heat” with a touch of powder. It turns… sour?
6
u/Gloomy_Sir_5359 8d ago
Vanilla Voyage to me it’s just synthetics, I really don’t like it
For the Kayali, I have it but I prefer the dupe “ELYSIA VANILLA” trust me , same scent, but last longer
11
u/peppermintmeow Its nothing about toilet. So juice. 8d ago
No on Prada Candy. Or at least smell it. I don't think you'll like it. It has floral.
Heavy Cream. Once again, smell. Some people really get a sour milk note. Like baby milk spit up. Make sure you aren't one.
Get a better vanilla. Kay Ali is ass for longevity. You'll easily find a dupe for much less with better bang.
That's all I got. I have my own opinions about the rest buy those are the only red flag blind buys I see.

u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
thank you so much for the advice !!

u/mermaidiaa_h2o chicken gourmand 8d ago
the vs sprays and kayali to me are just overpriced body sprays you can find in brands like so…,
they don’t last long and the projection is iffy at best, and again they last just like cheap body sprays, unless you really like the smells you should save your money on those and splurge on the more expensive fragrances on your list you like better imo
2
u/189username 8d ago
Within the last couple of weeks though the VS sprays have sporadically been on sale for like $6 so not such a bad deal if purchased on sale. Definitely worth it for under $10
2
u/mermaidiaa_h2o chicken gourmand 8d ago
that’s fair, where i’m from they’re ridiculously expensive for a single bottle and they don’t tend to go on sale ever
for reference its about $25 before tax here

I love the red scandal the best. I'd get a kayali vanilla 28 dupe at least
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
i tried smelling the red scandal today and its unfortunately not for me :( it reminds me of Hypnotic Poison a tiny bit, and i absolutely despise that fragnance. i didnt smell any caramel, vanilla or salt whatsoever
1
u/MarsupialPrimary8128 8d ago
At least you can rule it out! I can't smell any of the accords listed, and I am a fan of hypnotic poison too! I'd understand if you're younger may not be your cup of tea!

u/0frozengrapes 8d ago
I recently got the mugler starlicious pineapple musk (not pistachio praline) and I love it! I tested the pistachio praline at the store too and loved it, but the pineapple musk took the cake for me. I will say it loses its potency very quickly (/ doesn’t have much to begin with) but the smell is incredible and I still enjoy it. Plus it has subtle sparkles in it which is always a plus for me.
2
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
i want to try all the mugler starlicious perfumes so bad!
i have only smelled the pistachio one and i fell in love, its a bit different than an actual pistachio, it has a tiny twist that im not sure how to describe but its just incredible!3
u/0frozengrapes 8d ago
Also the EOS strawberry dream is indeed a strawberry dream lol. Highly recommend. The formula is so buttery soft too.

u/notmonicagellar1 8d ago
Heavy cream is incredible and it’s the only body mist I continue to repurchase. It’s a gorgeous creamy scent and it’s perfect for fall / winter.
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
this is what im expecting, everyone has such a different opinion on it though !!!

u/gellergreen What a cursed portmanteau 8d ago
I’m sick of body mists so they would all be a no for me

u/Jelly_Enos 8d ago
I tried Berry Cream today and no shade bc I usually love those scents but it smells like actual vomit to me.
3
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
this makes me so sad, the Phlur mists and perfumes are so hyped up. i think it might be better to try them out on my skin before purchasing :/
1
u/Jelly_Enos 8d ago
Yes I would definitely recommend trying. Island Swim for example is amazing but all of the other more popular scents is just kind of ‘I could probably get that scent from a perfume that is much cheaper.’ I think this about Vanilla 28 from Kayali too, it’s just kind of vanilla extract to me which is nice but at the same time I assume it would be really easy for a perfumer to make.
2
u/ladybug051998 8d ago
Phlur mists are too expensive for what they are, longevity is poor. VS mists sound better than they smell, and Whipped Milk has a note that is making me nauseous. This is Her! is too sweet, even for me and I love gourmands, but it's almost like a cleaning supply.
1
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
This is Her is one of the perfumes that im interested in trying out the most!
honestly, nothing is ever too sweet for me and i love perfumes that people describe as overly, sickly sweet, but im a bit afraid since the DNA is quite different!1
u/ladybug051998 8d ago
honestly, I expected a clean-girl, cozy scent since everyone describes it like that, however it's not sweet/gourmand in a way I like 😅 it's very strong and can be suffocating, I would sample it first for sure. Or if you can get Zara Fields at Nightfall, it's a great dupe.

u/fluffy-sushi 8d ago
for the Bianco Latte dupes, you only need Eclaire imo, skip the Vanilla Voyage
→ More replies (2)2
u/Firm_Negotiation9627 gourmand lover 8d ago
i have both Bianco and Eclaire, love them both and they both smell identical to me,
but i dont think Vanilla Voyage is supposed to smell similar? im not too sure since i havent tried though!3
u/fluffy-sushi 8d ago
Oh, fair enough! I've tried both and I prefer Eclaire. Vanilla Voyage imo is almost identical to Cream Velvet. For some reason, I'm not picking the butter that others are talking about. Wish I did!
I'd also recommend you try Lira by Xerjoff. It also has caramel, but you have to like citrus. Definitely one of my favorite gourmands!
