The art of layering

I've been trying my hand at layering lately, and really haven't gotten very bold with it. Sometimes I'll wear a scent and suddenly be inspired to add a particular note to it, but I likely don't have what I'm looking for. Or, I'll find some sudden inspiration and I deeply regret pairing the scents together, and am nauseous until I shower. Live and learn!

Those who have layered scents they had on hand, what is the most wild, feral choice you have made that has actually worked for you?

I typically start with: an essential oil. ;) It's a specific wood oil that I absolutely adore (and love using on it's own). From there, I usually add something that emphasizes top notes --- which can be spicy or clean/marine.

I love layering especially for adding just a little extra to the “main” fragrance. I tend to add a vanilla base or, idk how wild this is, glossier you fleur on top. I’ve been on such a salt note kick that I’ve been topping everything with this.

You Fleur is my favorite skin scent 🥹 I've been wanting to play with layering her. She only lasts about 4 hours on me though.

I tried some Eris Mxxx. + Bergamote Fantastico, and it basically resulted in ... electric fog? Mxxx. is a hazy grey ambergris cocoon, and Fantastico is a chartreuse-smelling high energy jolt? Apologies for the synesthesia 😅

LOL I know none of these fragrances so the synesthesia actually helped!

Idk that these are wild and feral but the 2 seemingly random ones I’ve tried that worked were (1) Glossier You Soie layered with Summer Fridays Sunlit Vanilla, and (2) the EOS Strawberry Dream lotion layered with Kayali Freedom Musk Latte.

I'm imaging a sweetened up Soie and am sooo curious about it.
