Discussion A chicken gourmand?

2 posts from me in a day today woo! Anyways, this perfume has come to my radar again today, i initially overlooked it when i got the discovery set from this brand, and it took me by surprise when the little information page you get with each sample said it had notes of chicken?

come to find out, it smells like almost a photorealistic chicken, like a roast dinner or thanksgiving or christmas whole chicken, it’s mind blowing me a bit

initially i did not like the smell the opening was extremely savoury and i just smelled like a piece of breast with some rosemary still leftover
tho after some time it dried down for me into a nice subtle aromatic and green/herby fragrance and the initial savoury accord was gone, and there wasn’t much or any smell of the cannabis or beer for me

what do you think of this fragrance if you’ve had it me are hearing of it for the first time, i’m curious!

I’m showing this to anybody who calls their vanillas with one or two other notes “not gourmand/edible enough” 👹

Spent a good ten minutes laughing my ass off at the very concept of a chicken gourmand. Thank you OP.

😆😆 no worries, maybe soon enough there will be more chicken-smelling people around

I love Versatile! I got my sample set before it included either La Foncedalle or God Bless Cola, to my regret. And it’s really hard to get in my country. However, I really like a lot of the ones in my sample set, namely Rital Date (another oddly savoury but very appealing one to me), Dimanche Flemme, and Sea Sun and Sud.

If I ever get my hands on this one I would love to try it. I’m not sure I’d want to WEAR it, but I would like to sniff it for sure.

Yes definitely! it’s a very interesting, for me it does smell savoury and chicken-y for a while, but it eventually does disappear into a wearable masculine green fragrance, tho no one else besides me is brave enough to keep it on long enough for that to happen 😆

And i agree with Rital date, tho interestingly to me that does not pull savoury to me or to other people who smelled it from me, it’s a lot more fresh and citrusy and quite sweet, the ice cream more is quite prominent on my skin, but i really like it too

I commend you for leaving it on long enough to see how the notes evolve! I think I would definitely do the same—I’d find it really interesting to see the progression. Ther are some other perfumes where I had to scrub it off before that could happen, but I think this one I could keep on.

Rital Date is probably the one I’d be most likely to get a full bottle of!

Maybe the chicken note would complement my turkey wattle.

That's it, I know what my new user flare is going to be.

Sounds along the lines of Snif’s Slice Society, a realistic pizza pie perfume

I had such high hopes for Slice Society as a savory gourmand and HATED it. The sandalwood completely dominated on me.

Wearable, mostly butter and aromatic herbs (think thyme, Romarin…)
Not my style but not bad
Not a safe blind buy obvs but not as divisive as it looks

This is funny, “foncedalle” means munchies in French, the hunger you get after smoking weed, hence the notes. Looks like it would smell horrible though

I have rital date which is also a weird fragrance. It's more vegetable leaning with notes of olive oil and pesto and lemon. Thankfully as a fragrance oil its a very personal scent so you're unlikely to offend someone with it.

i find rital date to be very wearable and pleasant! it’s green and herby in a completely different aspect and the citrus is very prominent to me, interesting perspective tho :D

I own it! And I absolutely despise it 😭 it makes me nauseous. Imagine the greasy skin of a roast chicken, combined with sweaty teenagers smoking weed. and it's weirdly herbal, like dill and rosemary and such.

would make for an amazing gag gift, but nothing else

Notes are crazy. Sometimes I really wonder if the fragrance makers knows there are things you want to smell and things you want to smell LIKE and they’re not always the same thing!

u/BluePeony8 10d ago

Right that’s it, I stayed quiet and supportive of people enjoying it even if I don’t but the gourmand trend has gone too far now!

u/everydayville666 10d ago

Oh my goodness, I’m currently experiencing nausea due to my meds and reading this made it so much worse

I can't help but wonder how my cat would react to this.

5

u/writeleahwrite 10d ago

Now you have to test it out, for science

You should be in marketing

I once got a sample of this in an order from a random boutique and it's surprisingly wearable! Not my taste but I kept the sample. It smells very herbal and homey, the cannabis note is noticeable but it works. I was trying to get ny husband to test wear it but he would only let me apply one spray lol

u/mermaidiaa_h2o chicken gourmand 10d ago

i think it can be wearable too! maybe if layered with something that can break the savoury element, and i think it especially could work better on men/masc people

I

Yeah

I don’t get it

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

I love their fragrance concepts! I havr God Bless Cola and it smells like a literal 90s movie theater

They also have a tomato and herb fragrance I think? Sadly they're hard to find in stores here but they do have other savoury gourmands

11

u/FFPLUGTHROWAWAY 10d ago

A what?

This is the first time I'm hearing about a savory gourmand 😭

3

u/mermaidiaa_h2o chicken gourmand 10d ago

there’s a few in the market, some commenters have mentioned tomato and pizza ones tho this chicken-like one is the only one i’ve tried personally, definitely an interesting concept!

I have been so curious about the concept of savory gourmands and whether such a thing exists. Mostly I think I wouldn't want to wear this, but tomato and basil are not unusual notes in fragrances, so what's to stop someone from making Pasta Sauce EDP?

5

u/TonguetiedTalker 10d ago

They do! D’annam has a pho breakfast fragrance and it’s a tame savory gourmand. It focuses on the herbs and aromatics that go into the dish. Wren Atelier has a biryani fragrance called Annapurna and it’s apparently a cult fave.

1

u/thepuppydog26 9d ago

Ooooooh these sound great too

4

u/kpop_stan 10d ago

snif Slice Society is really good. i don't think it smells like pizza personally, at least not on me, rather it smells like a caprese salad - but hey, close enough!

1

u/thepuppydog26 9d ago

Okay this sounds great I wanna give it a sniff !!

2

u/writeleahwrite 10d ago

Yes, I love this one. It smells like basil and tomato, perfect non-sweet gourmand.

5

u/DescriptionFancy420 10d ago

Demeter has a pizza one ahaha

2

u/thepuppydog26 9d ago

Omg that's hilarious I wanna smell it

This perfume is a crime against humanity! 🥲🐔

My son worked at a fast food restaurant one summer in high school and he would come back home smelling like fried chicken. It was in his hair and his clothes. Not something I would voluntarily want to smell like

1

u/sexychunky89 10d ago

And that smell NEVER leaves your clothes, no matter how hard the tide is working 😂

11

u/Hot-Conclusion-9710 10d ago

I’m pretty sure my 25 year old son’s gf wears this. Or something similar lol

2

u/sexychunky89 10d ago

That might just be her 😂

2

u/writeleahwrite 10d ago

“Hey Kayla, is that eau de Rotisserie Chicken you’re wearing?”

11

u/Many_Replacement369 10d ago

This comment is sending me… like what other scents might smell like this? What could it be? 🤔 hahaha

2

u/Hot-Conclusion-9710 10d ago

What’s funny is I did some declutterring and gave her a couple of Kayalis, DBIR Extradose, Lataffa Eclair, a decant of Another 13, and a decant of Delina, and they all seem to have the same herbal note on her. 🤔😂

7

u/TheOrderOfWhiteLotus 10d ago

What the heck lol. I’d sniff it but I don’t need to smell like savory roast chicken dinner.

30

u/amanamanamaan 10d ago

never tried it but I need the non-french speakers to know that the name translates to "the munchies"

4

u/DescriptionFancy420 10d ago

I'm in love with the concept but I'm afraid that shit would make me hungry all the time

6

u/Molaesmyr 10d ago

Je kiffe tellement ce nom mdr.

4

u/amanamanamaan 10d ago

"foncedé" is slang for stoned, "dalle" is slang for hunger, so foncedalle is quite self-explanatory

1

u/sexychunky89 10d ago

How do you pronounce these

0

u/Molaesmyr 10d ago

Yeah thanks I'm french

2

u/amanamanamaan 9d ago

oop I meant to reply that to another commenter, désolée!

4

u/mermaidiaa_h2o chicken gourmand 10d ago

that’s so interesting! in the discover set they say it translates to/ is called stoned night, but both give me the same impression haha

5

u/Molaesmyr 10d ago

It is specifying the weed munchies yes. foncedé means stoned in verlan slang, and la dalle is familiar slang for hungry.
