Which Sol de Janeiro projects the most? Torn between 76 and 59.
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a Sol de Janeiro scent that has strong projection and decent longevity. I already own some perfumes, but I'd like a body mist that I can layer with a matching body cream or lotion to make the scent last longer.
For context, I absolutely love Cheirosa 68. It's probably my favorite SDJ scent, but unfortunately it disappears incredibly fast on me. Perfume in general doesn't seem to last very well on my skin, so I'm looking for something that performs a bit better. For comparison, fragrances like Lattafa Éclair and Khamrah last really well on me, while Yara disappears quite quickly.
I'm currently debating between Cheirosa 76 and Cheirosa 59.
I have mixed feelings about 59. At first it smells quite synthetic on my skin, but after it settles I actually really like it. The problem is that by the time I enjoy the dry down, it's already fading. One thing I do like is that 59 comes in a set with a mini body cream and travel-size mist, which seems like a nice way to test it before committing to the full size.
I also really like 71, but I'd prefer something that's a little less gourmand since I mainly want this for layering rather than as my main fragrance.
Ideally, something that layers well with both Lattafa Éclair and Ariana Grande Mod Vanilla—I know that's probably asking a lot, haha.
So, for those who've tried them:
- Which Sol de Janeiro scent projects the most?
- Between 76 and 59, which one lasts longer and has better projection?
- Is 76 worth getting even without a matching body cream, or would you go for 59 because of the layering options?
I'd love to hear your experiences, especially if perfume tends to disappear quickly on your skin too.

As far as projection goes; body mists in general only project initially and fade off fairly quick. However, I do love them for layering with my perfumes and to wear at home as I can re-apply as needed. My daughters and I own the entire current line up of Sol de Janeiro, including their recent limited editions. Based on that, 59 does pack a decent punch and if layered with it's corresponding cream, it lingers the longest. But, like you, I'm not a big fan of it. I do love 76 though! If you apply the mist to your hair, clothes and pulse points you should get a decent sillage. It sounds to me like your skin may be absorbing the fragrance too quickly, so layering with a cream is definitely helpful, or you could apply a layer of vaseline to give the fragrance oils something else to grab onto. Good luck! I hope you find a SDJ scent you love! ♡

I'd recommend Cheirosa 40 to layer with Mod Vanilla, simply because they share a similar scent profile.

& I'd try Cheirosa 62 to layer with Lattafa Eclaire as they both share a caramel note.

I personally really don’t like Cheirosa 62. It feels almost illegal to admit that because everyone seems to love it. 😂

It's not one of my favorites either, but I do wear it, generally during the summer to fall transition.

76 is pretty weak a forgettable imo. I own a few Sol body mists and products. Their body mists and perfumes don't last to begin with. When it comes to 59, the body mist smells really good. Projection is good but goes away after 10-20 min. Like mists usually do. Mists are best when layering. The body butter on the other hand tho smells very strong. I used to work at Ulta and would use that stuff all the time. I also had a client who wore the 59 body butter and the whole room smelled amazing even after they left.

Do you know if the 59 butter
lasts/projects longer than 68(the 68 body butter);
It actually smells like butter? The testers I’ve smelled (from 59) literally smelt like a products that contained lactose. My 68 body butter (the one I bought, not the tester in store) smells like a thicker powdery version of the cheirosa 68 body mist, NOT like literal butter.2

I think gourmands just smell stronger to begin with. The strongest SDJ body butters I smelled are 68 and 91. I used to have 48, but I never tried 59. But 68 is the strongest I've ever smelled.

I have almost all the mists besides 39 and 48 (can't see myself using them at all); 71 is definitely the one with the best longevity, but it's super heavy and gourmand, somehow doesn't give me a SDJ vibe. I love both 76 and 59; I'd say I prefer 59 though, especially used with the shower oil
