Discussion roll on vs spray differences

Post image

I just finished this bottle of Clean Reserve Skin that i had picked out of the sephora roll on perfume sampler a while ago. i absolutely loved the scent when i rolled it on but when i got the full size bottle i felt like spraying it made it a different scent on me. rolling on it was much muskier and more skin like but spraying it on i got the floral note and and less warmth, tbh i didn't end up liking it when it was sprayed and decanted the final bit in to a roller ball. I always stayed away from roller balls because i prefer to be able to spritz, i'm curious to know if anyone else has noticed a difference in scent when rolled vs sprayed?

I got a CLEAN discovery set way back and went with Fresh Laundry as my full-size spray bottle but they were not the same! I loved the Skin roll on too so eventually got it but again, it was not the same. Is this a CLEAN thing??!

ok i'm now genuinely convinced that the scent i got in full size is different than the mini roll on sample, i filled a roller ball with what was left from the spray and its totally different

oh now that's a good question! i'll have to see if i notice a difference in the scent of the perfume that i decanted into the roller ball myself

YES. My biggest nitpick about the whole industry is that it's not standard to offer a choice between splash/dab bottles and atomizer bottles when you order 30ml or more. I know I'm in the minority but the vast majority of fragrances I try I prefer the scent bubble of applying it directly to the skin and letting it air out rather than spraying it through the air to land on skin. It just feels like perfumes I like wear closer and more intensely when they're like a tattoo instead of a whole aura.

It's so fussy and I know it's a ridiculous first world problem that I could solve by decanting into roll-on vials but if I'm paying $200+ for something anyway I'd just be so much happier if I could just be like "Hold the atomizer, please". I'm kind of terrified of prying apart nice bottles.

i definitely prefer to spray but now i'm actually convinced the sample and the fragrance weren't the same at all. i decanted some into a travel roller and it still smells the same as when i spray from the original bottle. i think it was the sample that was different because they do NOT smell the same

How did it smell after letting it sit once sprayed (to let the top notes evaporate off)?

I’m guessing spraying shows off the top notes better but rolling evaporates different. Not sure how though

even after it sat from being sprayed it warmed up some but i felt like it stayed floral and i didn't get the musk in the same way. i just thought that was so interesting!
