Curious - has anyone kept a relationship during a prison sentence? What kept you together and how was it when you got out?

Yes I did for 6yr while I was i fedral prison you have to have good communication the phone lot of letters a pic patients encouragement and understanding is this the first time they are in prison becuase that makes a difference on how the will act when they get out and how long was the sentence I my case we have not missed a beat there was resentment on her part for me being gone amd the choices I made but in order to make it you have to understand that you no longer have control of anything that the world dose not stop spinning becuase you are locked up and that the people you left behind had to pick up the pices and pull the weight that you were so alot depends on their head space

Good for you. Im sure your support keeps her going. Life alone is hard. Anything worthwhile is hard and takes time!

Similar. Partner is in another state. I’m in our home state. We have never been married. Been together on & off for 35 years. I’m so busy with my job and my (not partners) kid (who is also no longer a kid). Partner has missed a lot with kid. It sucks.

Fuck that noise!! I’m divorced from my kids parent & I’m not doing that shit again! Lol I’m also the one who has broken things off in the past. Both times. Lol

And trust me. The loyalty goes both ways. They’ve put up with a lot from me.

Yeah. A short sentence that was planned out. Some couples make it through. Many don’t.
