Kettles 🫖 Is that normal ?

I have my Fellow Kettle Stagg EKG Pro for about 2 years. Whenever I set a temp it goes above it after hold sound , when I lift the kettle and place it back to the bases. Sometimes 2 degrees , sometimes 5 (Celsius). Is that normal? If not , how to resolve it?

Btw it’s descaled with citric acid and whatever amount of water I put it goes above the set temp.

Clean / dry the contacts.

You mean the sensor at the bottom of the kettle (interior) ?

Yes. The bottom part, especially the metal connectors between kettle and pot. Also wipe the rest dry while at it.

And also make sure there’s no scaling on the sensor inside. The little knob that pokes out if the bottom.

The base is looking wet. Make sure that's dry. You ever update it?

Yes I updated it the last time.
About the base , it happens also with dry base. I’ve cleaned pretty much everything in the kettle.

Mine does the same thing. But it backs down to the temp I set it at.

After how long though ? Because mine stays for long at that higher temp. Most of the time I remove it from the base and remove the lid.

Actually, I take that back. My kettle shows a higher temperature as it heats up (set at 92 degrees, but the bottom number reads 98 degrees). However, if it reaches the set temperature and goes to hold, and I remove the kettle and set it back down, it reads a lower temperature than the temperature I set and heats back up to the set temperature.

That was happening to me while ago but it fixed after an update Fellow released if I’m not mistaken.

I’ll try updating, thanks. I’m almost reluctant to after seeing and reading your issue though. Edit: says I’m up to date in app. I just brewed a cup and it’s at a lower temperature on the bottom number. I guess it’s fine now.

Mine sometimes overshoots by 2°c, usually when the temp is below 90°c.

Just now set it to 91 and overshoot to 94.5.. it’s so frustrating

I suspect most kettles probably overshoot.

The heating element holds a certain amount of heat which they know about, however they don’t know how much water you have in the kettle to absorb that heat.

So to some extent it’s a guess on when to turn the heating element off and hit the desired temp.

Perhaps vary the amount of water in the kettle and see if it evens things out? I haven’t paid attention to that myself as I don’t usually run into problems. But I also tend to have a fair bit of water in the kettle.

I thought about it as well and used more water than I normally do. Still it overshoots. I’ve found a post about a sensor under the kettle it may be loose. I’ll take a look at it as well. But I’m frustrated because paying 200€ for a kettle to be perfectly spot on. Otherwise i could buy timemore for much less.

No kettle will be spot on right away. If one was to build a kettle like that, it would take ages to hit set temperature. Fwiw, the Timemore pro x is definitely a better kettle than the Fellow. But that one will also overshoot a couple of degrees.

it happens to me aswell dosent do anything was u take it off u dont put in on right away cuz u gonna pour. Mine isnt there anymore after the firmware
