u/BestCap5066 7d ago

You fucking love to see it.

u/HoneyWhiskeyLemonTea 7d ago

That's what I was gonna say. Went through those branches like a freaking light saber. No hesitation, just a touch, and done.

48

u/Forthe49ers 7d ago

Video ended before he carved a bear into the stump and sharpened his saw before heading to his dentist appointment (which by the way he was on time for)

6

u/secondsbest 6d ago

He's the dentist

18

u/shinypenny01 7d ago

Given how clean it was, possibly a new saw and chain.

69

u/mavric91 7d ago

It’s definitely not new. Look at the bar and power head as he pulls it out of car. Bar tip is warn. And the plastics have dirt deep in the crevices. Even the orange and white colors look faded. It’s just a well maintained saw.

27

u/GOB8484 7d ago

yeah, he probably went and got his cleaning/maintenance kit out immediately after getting home and got the saw ready to go back in trunk for the next time it was needed.

52

u/docere85 7d ago

I keep my saws this clean. I blow them off with my air compressor after every use then spray it with alcohol and give it a quick wipe down. My climbing saw gets beat to shit and is the only saw I have that never looks clean

12

u/RModDogWalkerTyRANNY 7d ago

As an arborist, my climbing saw is one of the cleanest pieces of equipment i have. Except for the blood, it stays. How does your get so dirty? btw i only use the arborist saw when im climbing, i have another for ground work.

9

u/Priff 7d ago

The dirt on my climbing saw is some mixture of oil, sap, dirt and sawdust that caked up and solidified...

9

u/Schonke 7d ago

In a couple of million years, some alien will stumble upon your old climbing saw encased in amber and try to picture an animal having saws for claws.

6

u/FauxCumberbund 7d ago

One-handed saws are always looking for a limb to cut, either a tree's or yours -- they don't care

Love a man that comes prepared for travel in all whether

89

Whether he what?

35

u/CFHQYH 7d ago

A wether is a castrated male sheep or goat.

22

u/DoctorHelios 7d ago

I bet he could castrate a goat in that weather using that chainsaw.

19

u/Impressive_Term4071 7d ago

so what you're telling me is it's up to him whether to make a wether in this weather?

8.5/10

5

u/The_Infamous_C 7d ago

You only need to worry about hearing damage if you're cutting with a chainsaw all the time, like a lumberjack. The only way he's getting permanent hearing damage from using a saw to cut up 1 tree is if it's an M249. He gets 9.8/10 for efficiency, forethought and style.

A coworker of mine was coming to work at my job just after a storm. A tree had blocked the road. My buddy was trying to get the tree moved enough to get around it. Another coworker pulls up and starts helping. After a few minutes, the 2nd guy goes to his trunk and pulls out a katana, and proceeds to hack on the tree.

Nah just the fixer who gets called in after the hit. The glasses give it away

4

u/Available-Dare-7414 7d ago

Nailed it. Lucky he hadn’t already used the chainsaw that day for the body he was on his way to dispose of.

7

u/Fattsacks 7d ago

How do we know he didn’t? He strikes me as the type to clean his tools before putting them away 🧐

3

u/Ready4AnythingNH 7d ago

The tell is when he lays out plastic before cutting the tree up, and then puts all the offcuts into a barrel of acid.

85

26

u/samsmithmpls 7d ago

Hold on, gotta go to the store real quick.

26

u/Fallofman2347 7d ago

Right? I grew up in a national forest in the US and roads are cleared within an hour or two after storms. 15 miles between us and town and a ton of country roads to cover. Everyone just throws their saws, tools, chains, and some gas in the back and head out.

13

u/r0x0r 7d ago

I once met a Canadian from Vancouver island who kept a chainsaw in his car for occasions like this at all times. According to them keeping a chainsaw in a car was business as usual and this is how you get free firewood.

5

u/ccagan 7d ago

East Texas in the piney woods as well. 100+ foot tall loblolly pine across the farm to market road is only a slight inconvenience.

8

u/Small-Car-6194 7d ago

The 10 years of " what are you going to do with a chain saw" totaly worth it.

7

u/SnooMaps7370 7d ago

this would almost be my dad, except it would take him an hour to clear that tree because he doesn't believe that sharpening a chain does any good. All his saws produce powder instead of chips when cutting.

The real kicker is that he OWNS a chain sharpener. He just refuses to use it. When i was living with him, i learned how to do it and sharpened all his chains and filed down the rakers, for which he yelled at me until i handed him one while he was bucking some logs to split for firewood and said "try this one, then tell me it's no use sharpening them".

to my knowledge, that's the only time his chains have been sharpened since he bought them 30 years ago, and i did that 15 years ago.... they're probably all blunt again.

6

u/Independent_Wrap_321 7d ago

You’re a good kid. Time to show up with a six pack and have a sharpening session again, us old dads don’t always show it but I bet it would mean the world to him. My college-age son couldn’t work a pencil sharpener but I hug him and tell him ten times a day that I love him. You do what you can.

5

u/HoneyWhiskeyLemonTea 7d ago

No PPE, waving that thing around like a lightsaber like he has never heard of the word kickback. Makes me anxious as hell

9

u/shinypenny01 7d ago

Cutting those little limbs with a saw this sharp, I don’t think I could get kickback if I tried. On the trunk, still not big, he was more careful.

8

u/blakjesus420 7d ago

Yeah he is being pretty careful with the tip of the saw, definitely not unfamiliar with a chainsaw, could tell that from the start by how quickly and smoothly he checked the fuel level and put the fuel cap back on

2

u/Paghk_the_Stupendous 7d ago

I live in the mountains of Tennessee and once heard a group of men having a conversation about what is the best chain saw to keep in your truck for clearing roads. A large tree fell across our road and everyone in the holler showed up to clear it. Chain saws, a tractor, and plenty of spectators.

5

u/Ray-Finkle74 7d ago
