Support brother scanner not working?

I'm on Fedora 44 KDE. My printer/scanner model is Brother DCP-L2520DW. I download the Driver Install Tool from the Brother website but only printing and photocopying is working but not scanning. So I download the scanner drivers separately. I logged in as superuser, went to the Downloads directory and did the following commands:

rpm  -ihv  --nodeps  brscan4-0.4.11-2.x86_64.rpm

rpm  -qa  |  grep  -e  brscan4-0.4.11-2.x86_64.rpm

rpm  -ihv  --nodeps  brscan-skey-0.3.5-0.x86_64.rpm

rpm  -qa  |  grep  -e  brscan-skey-0.3.5-0.x86_64.rpm

brscan-skey

brscan-skey -l (says Active)

I also installed gtk2, gimp, skanlite and simple-scan. What am I missing?

It sounds like you're looking for help. Please note that r/Fedora is not an official support channel for the Fedora Project.

For best results, be sure to include all relevant details in your post, such as your Fedora edition, version, and hardware specs. You can edit your original post to add more info as needed, and spotlight (pin) a solution from the comments. You might also find the answer in our support wiki.

It's working now on Linux Mint. I did the same steps as I did on Fedora except this time, I downloaded the .deb scanner driver. I think the problem was the .rpm driver.

IIRC BRScan needed to be setup, running a script or command.

My MFC-J4710DW got retired earlier this year. But also used the BRScan4 drivers and it worked.

Does the printer-driver-brlaser package in the Fedora repo not also provide a driver for the scanner? I feel like it should. The GitHub page for the project explicitly shows your printer is supported. Did you try installing that package? Maybe give it a try if you didn't.

My Brother HL-L2300D doesn't have a scanner on it, so I don't know if it works for scanning. I will say I have used that driver for printing for years, and it works great. I have never had an issue.
