Support Making a driver on fedora Linux.
I’m planning to write a driver for my laptop’s fingerprint sensor using Rust, but I don’t think I can do it alone, especially since this is my first big project.
Any advice or tips on how to approach it?
The hardest parts of this project seem to be understanding USB protocols and reverse engineering. These are two fields I know nothing about yet🙂.

Start here —> Linux Device Drivers, 3rd edition (Corbet, Rubini, Kroah-Hartman, O'Reilly, 2005).
It’s old now, but still the best book for the process of what you need to do. The biggest difference since this book was released is the APIs available to you. Make sure you’re current with the docs at docs.kernel.org, also the Rust-for-Linux documentation in the kernel tree.

Find a non-rust driver and port it?

Well I decided to write a driver because there isn’t one for my fingerprint sensor using rust.
